Cool, are they gonna put microtransactions into movies?
fuckk no
From a customer perspective, video games are the absolute worst of the entertainment industries and EA is one major pillar responsible for that.
EA CEO gets fired for being incompetent
Disney CEO gets fired for being incompetent
EA hires Disney CEO
Disney hires EA CEO
"Want to see the ending of our latest movie?"
"pay me 10 bucks again for the ending bucko"
Gotta love the corporate revolving door.
If they ask me $100 to have the Zootopia 3 sex scene DLC I will happily pay that
Electronic Arts
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
Are they just saying this so that whoever does get the job looks better in comparison?
Gamer here, uh.
Y'all are boned. This guy helped to make EA what it is.
dying company new CEO is from ANOTHER dying company
LMAO
And here I thought Disney couldn’t get any worse.
FYI: under his management EA got SEVERAL annual "worst American company" awards
Why don't they just sell the company to Japan so we finally have quality Disney products in this century?
all Disney princesses suddenly play soccer
every sequel is now the identical movie with 2 minutes of additional content you have to pay extra for.
but when you pay for a cinema ticket you have to put your hand in a box and hope you don't pull a blank.
...Thats not Fenneko.
WOW YOURE SO INTERESTING ANON.
Sorry I had to sort like 3000 jpgs yesterday.
Fixed.
I remember we all talked about this kinda stuff a while back during Zaslav's great purge. If they're looking for an outside CEO, they're looking for an economic engineer who can cut costs and turn flops into profits by whatever means available
the problem is this isnt vidya, vidya can be milked very easily as there is a bigger retarded playerbase who will buy useless shit.
i remember this dilbert episode
No fucking way, THAT'S the best they can do? HAHAHAHAHA
Then lets hope his methods fail and they kick him to the curb swiftly.
First thing Japanese businessmen do when moving in on a Western company is micromanage the shit out of anything having to do with production.
If you wanna know what the Japanese buying a western company looks like, look at Jim Beam. The Americans were outright offended at the Japanese wanting to change a product with that much tradition behind it, then it turned out the Japs had no intention of changing the recipe, rather all their talks about sweeping changes to the things was just them wanting to micromanage the shit out of production because that's just in their fucking blood
go watch new disney movie
the ticket is strangely cheap
booth tells me to pull a lever
gives me a sticker, tells me to bo to the back f the line and try again to get a ticket if i want to watch the movie
regularly priced tickets are at either the front or the back of the theater and everything else requieres paying extra even when the theater is empty you arent alowed to change seats
when you order online the time of showing is randomly selected and you cann be stuck watching the movie at 4 am
Japanese businessmen don't want incompetence from employees
Shame on them.
Kek, I haven't gotten to post this in forever, but just imagine this alongside the Timmy Turner "please God let this happen because it would be so fucking funny" image. Absolute travesty. Fuck corporations, fuck corpos, and fuck the golden parachute upwards-failing revolving door. But the schadenfreude-loving accelerationist in me wants this to happen since I've already written off Disney and it would be so shit.
Granted, this is some random Twitter bullshit, likely not real, and just bait, but the mind boggles.
Wall Street Journal is reporting this
It’s very much real
Well holy shit. Here's hoping some bullshit happens.
Fun thing I found in the Variety article:
In addition, when Bob Chapek was CEO of Disney, Wilson engaged in talks “about potentially selling EA to Disney, but the negotiations didn’t lead to a deal,” per the Journal.
Kek, I wonder how much that had to do with their abysmal track record with all the Star Wars stuff and Battlefront 2 especially. That had actually got Iger to directly pay attention they fucked it up so bad. Article does also say that he isn't a front runner and it's early in the process, but he is in consideration.
If anything, I bet this is corporate jockeying to put the name out there in "public" awareness with shareholders and the like as more a publicity leak than an actual surprise. I can see it backfiring because of, well, the reputation of Andrew Wilson, but far be it from me to sing the wisdom and consideration of Disney business guys at this point.
Will he fire Kathleen Kennedy for what she did to star wars? At this point that's all I care about.
No anon. You don't understand. I'm not even saying Japanese businessmen would do a bad job with Disney, but if Disney got a Japanese parent company or something. You can expect them to apply the kaizen principle almost immediately.
In Disney's case? I'd imagine that would be a total fucking overhaul of the company from a structural point and an inevitable conflict within the company.
can you really get people to run a company from another company??
Obviously he'd leave EA first. If he hasn't already.
The mouse is DOOMED.
evlyting muss rook SAME!!
And made lots of money. Shareholders don't give a shit about anything other than making money.
It's over for the MCU...
