I want to learn how to draw digital, I keep buying drawing tablets but I always get distracted using my PC. Should I just get an iPad/Samsung tablet and draw there instead?

Bugs.

Duh, it's Bugs Bunny.

Learn focus. Listen to relaxing music and doodle in SAI until you feel you're ready to challenge yourself to draw more seriously.

Why SAI?

I'll be honest, as someone who owns an iPad to draw with, the problem isn't the platform as much as it is you I'm afraid. I do agree that comfort and setup are important in getting yourself in the working mood but it's just that - a mood. If you're being distracted you need to work on eliminating or mitigating what it is that is distracting you, first by identifying it, and then finding a way to control it. Let's say it's browsing Anon Babble, I get on my laptop, I turn on the browser and check my emails, social media, and then look at the Anon Babble catalogue, it's a habit. When you identify it you can then ask your brain 'Do I need to do this? Can I read this thread another time? What if I just *didn't* go on Anon Babble and instead check my emails and DMs then open up Clip Studio or whatever programme you use'. Or go back to traditional drawing and instead of opening the PC open your sketchbook.

Bugs FUCKING Bunny

that pic

Lol

Where's this picture from?

Hugh Chungus

I draw with my mouse. Whenever I start drawing that's all I do for the next 5-ish or so hours and i ignore everything else around me, sometimes even not drinking. You really need to learn how to focus to draw. When I was a kid, I would sit on a bench for 20 minutes and just observe. One day, I did the same thing but for nearly 2 hours. I unintentionally taught myself to be patient and live in the moment then. If you don't want to do something as extreme as I did though, maybe look into meditation? If you can't handle distractions then you can't draw.

I mean, the exact episode or short.

He needs Daffy Duck to his side.

Honestly if this is a problem for you, you simply dont have the creative spirit. Creative people dont need to force themselves to create, it comes naturally. Often to the point of overwhelming them.
If you forced yourself you could probably squeeze out something mediocre but you would put yourself through a lot of pain and never make something great.
You are probably, like the vast majority of humans, meant for menial work.
This might sound depressing but humans throughout history have largely depended and those masses of worker bees to ensure our survival.
Once you accept your role in life and put these dreams of art behind you, you will finally be a peace. Just work and enjoy the art of others.

I think there is some truth in that, but at the same time I also believe that distraction and addiction can overwhelm creative people. The other side of it is that some people enjoy creative things but suck at it whilst others make some great stuff but hate the process. I agree with the idea that most people should be contented with being 'ordinary' and enjoy others work, BUT if you enjoy the creative process but are intimidated by the stresses of it (and I know drawing is stressful) then training and scheduling yourself to get better at the things that hinder you can help, and it's certainly a more productive way to pass the time rather than playing vidya all day.

Fuck off defeatist faggot

I keep buying drawing tablets

The fuck are you doing to them?
I've had my intuos 3 for almost two decades now.
I've only been considering replacing it because I'm tired of dealing with the driver issues from using something made back when windows XP was new.

This

and what makes you think you won't just get bored of drawing on your tablet and go back to being distracted on your pc

How hard do you get distracted that your tablet breaks and you need to buy a new one many times?

It doesn't break. I just don't get comfortable with them. I first got a Chinese one but I couldn't get it to work properly, the drivers didn't work and the pen stopped working after a while. Then I got a screenless Wacom tablet, which is fine, but I wanted a tablet that worked with my phohe, so I got a Chinese one (again), which fucked me over (again), and now I'm here.

Post your art

Yeah

I always get distracted using my PC

Just listen to a podcast or something

I've had my intuos 3 for almost two decades now.

Same hat up until a couple of years ago. I switched to a Wacom One, having a screen on it does a lot for my wrist and shoulder, completely changed my hunch game

The intuos was a great old workhorse though, gotta love it

listen to a podcast

Any recs?

I wish I had the motivation to actually begin drawing
I don't know where to begin

draw a bunny

The F Plus - Weird shit from insane parts of the internet, read by a bunch of genX tf2 nerds.
Extra Credit/The F Minus - F+ fan podcast that started off reading rejected material but branched out to new subjects. The reader cast skews younger and gayer so while F+ reads a lot of horrifying porn and angry boomer comments, F+ reads a lot of adorably cringe fanfiction and fandom wikis
Marvel by the Month - Two (later three) guys go through all the Marvel superhero books one month at a time, starting with Fantastic Four #1. They summarize what was going on in the books themselves but also stuff that was in the news at the time of publishing, and behind-the-scenes lore (Kirby and Ditko leaving Marvel, etc)
The Dogg Zzone 9000 - Remember Seanbaby from Cracked? He and Brockway (also from Cracked but I don't remember him) and various guests talk about exactly the kind of thing you'd expect from a Seanbaby podcast. Sometimes Seanbaby forces everyone to play a fake game show, sometimes Brockway forces everyone to play a fake DnD campaign. Start with the Gorilla Flow episode.
Bigfeets - Seanbaby, Brockway, and Jason Pargin (also from Cracked but you remember him as David Wong) watch every episode of fake-reality bigfoot-hunting tv show Mountain Monsters. They start off recommending that you watch every episode along with them but over time they give up. Apparently like half their listeners think it's a fake show they made up.
Better Offline - A journalist's personal doomer analysis of the tech industry. His accent is mostly tolerable and he hates the Zuck. Various guests go into more in-depth analysis of things like anti-trust laws and stock buybacks. The only podcast in my current rotation that almost feels like it's for real adults.

The F Plus is also adjacent to a bunch of other podcasts that I think are mostly dead now (I Don't Even Own A Television, Song Crimes, maybe Left-Handed Radio isn't dead currently?) but you can dig around in there.

I was going to add the warning that The F Plus readers are 99% goblin-voiced lunatics but I reached the character limit.

I use an iPad Pro (2020) with a pencil and it still works great for me. The screen is about the size of a sheet of paper and the app I use is procreate.

I think it’s free or cheap.

11 or 12.9?

This. It sounds more like OP is bad at time management. OP should try the pomodoro technique (set 25 minutes to work, 5-10 minute break, repeat). It's kind of like working out where the biggest hurdle is starting. Some rigid structure can be helpful to build up resistance to distractions.

Because the UI is simple and easy to understand.

It's furshit though.
Plus I'm mediocre at best and none of it is even pornographic.

Whenever I finally replace mine, I'm definitely looking into one with a screen.
That disjoint between the monitor and the monitor is always awkward to deal with even once you're used to it.

Lol I dunno

cant draw with what you have you wont draw with anything else

I think he will draw though

I have the 11, good size for portability.

furshit

non-pornographic

All the more reason to share imo. Help restore balance

All i have is a phone and a stylus. Is that enough if i hang out in drawthreads and Anon Babble to learn drawing lessons?

Yes I found that works for me, starting is always the hardest part.

I keep buying drawing tablets

Why can't I,

hold all these tablets?
