They could have shown Beast Boy becoming a more mature and serious person after everything he's been through, but then he'd become a completely different character, which is unacceptable for the studio, so they'd leave him as a worthless idiot forever - for this character, it's over before it even starts.

I don't think so. They are to oil and water without any kind of real bonding bridge. Raven likes BB even more than a friend I'd argue but there's no doubt she gets annoyed with him and that over 10 or 20 years can get to women. BB needs someone who can match or understand his freaky side while Raven needs someone not always turned up to 11. Maybe if Raven was capable of emotionally changing she could be a better match for BB. But I doubt she ever would. BB on the other hand would need alot of tragic shit to bring him down to Raven's long ter. acceptable range. Personally think they work better as best friends without any kind of commitment weighing down their relationship.
In terms of shipping they're hard carried by fan content and TTG. Unlike Zuko x Katara, there's barely any real content that says they can go together. Raven had more moments like that with Robin than BB even if it was just an episode or two.

Take into account Dick and Starfire haven't been paired together since the early 90s.
