Which one will be the best recieved?
Which one will be the best recieved?
Superman cause it's Superman, no one really gives a shit about F4.
Which one has the largest marketing budget?
We'll take it from here, OP.
superman. Its just not easy marketting the Thing's Penis shaped head. In fact I would say Fan4stic had more advertising
if only. But i distinctly recall one of the many lies Gunn saying was that the awful Blue Beetle movie that came out was part of his DC universe. So I have no hope. Maybe Green Lanterns buddy cop show will be better but Ted and Michael are done.
Crazy how both of these comics started their respective universes. Now if either movie fails it may as well kill the movie universe
Gunn's films /shows seem to get fairly decent critical reviews (even if I don't care for them)
MCU golden age is over so critics don't seem to care about giving them bad reviews at this point.
I thought both teaser trailers looked pretty decent
Pablo Fagscale is such a horrible casting choice for Mister Fantastic I actually don't know if I'm going to bring myself to even pirate the movie
at least this will likely be his career downfall and he will be blacklisted afterwards
Man of Steel was decent and WB let it slide and spent the whole Snyderverse trying to get rid of it.
I think if I'm going by The Suicide Squad/Peacemaker Gunn is below decent and definetly not the guy to handle Superman. Gunn's "skill" is to take obscure characters and make them pallatable to the masses. Creature Commandos, GotG, Suicide Squad are all super middling films and somehow... THIS is the guy they wanted? Its like the Justice League movie all over again. They've poached a MCU director to save their mismanaged franchise and everyone but WB can see how dumb that is
marvel (timely/atlas) wants to pretend they've been big boys since forever, like fawcett and DC, so they have claimed they started with the defenders
with namor, silver age cap, and the og (anodroid or whatever the fuck he was) human torch and whichever other c- and d-list characters they had on that squad
Fantastic Spic's reception will be warm purely from the good faith of Marvel Rivals.
Superman has an uphill battle.
They'll have to be better than decent is what I'm saying. And from what I've seen of Gunn's movies and the trailer... this Superman sounds like a safe slop movie. And that really sucks as a big Superman fan.
Wait is Reed's actor actually Mexican? Are they going for an I Love Lucy "Ricardo" thing? Its been 60 years. Everyone knows Mexicans aren't like that
My only hope is that The Batman 2 is good and Reeves can make it and get out. I've heard Gunn has made things very difficult for that movie (because Gunn wants Batman for himself) and the movie might be delayed. Although I gave Joker 2 the benefit of the doubt as well.
this Superman sounds like a safe slop movie
It totally is, leaks are already saying it has a very goofy tone like Guardians.
WELL WHAT DID YOU EXPECT IT'S A JAMES GUNN MOVIE
Then don't direct Superman? Continue with The Suicide Squad and let someone else handle the mainstream DC heroes.
The last time Superman was interesting unfortunately.
Its Superman without the budget and he's not in metropolis, and there's no Luthor, and Lois is ugly and they fired the actor for Jon because he didn't sign up to play a gay kid. And yet it still will end up being more interesting than the new movie. And by the way. This whole thread has become about Superman because no body guves a fuck about the Fantastic Four. FF First Step is going to fly under the radar but Superman is going to be a travesty
No one really gives a shit about Superman either.
Superman. FF has the pressure of fitting into an established universe/franchise. This iteration of Superman is kicking off a whole new cinematic universe/franchise and thus has nothing to measure up to.
But people are more familiar with Superman. You can ask the Average joe what Superman is and he can tell you everything Superman stands for, who he fights, who he loves and what his best movie is. People know Superman without picking up a comic.
Same can't be said for Fantastic Four.
When I had to use the public bus I once knew this black guy who everyone called Superman. Dude never picked up a comic but he had this T-Shirt with the S and a book bag and a bunch of other shit. Just covered in Superman merch. I gave him a Superman jacket that didn't fit me and he was pretty cool. When I asked him why he liked Superman so much he just said "Superman's strong. People need to be like that."
That would give hope if anything because that movie ends teasing Ted is alive and they need to go find him.
Familiarity does always not equate to caring. Everyone knows who Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Dracula, and Frankenstein are but that doesn't mean people would care enough to go see a movie about them.
Rumors say Gunn wants the Paki guy from Eternals to play Booster Gold
Eh. The MCU will live to Doomsday and Secret Wars. If those fail then yeah, the MCU is dead. I highly doubt it with all the memberberries and nostalgia in the movies. Plus general audiences eat up anything that has Spider-Man.
If Superman, DC is in hot water. WB will probably push for a Batman movie. It will be either Matt Reeves The Batman part 2 or James Gunn’s Brave the Bold movie with Damian Wayne. If that Batman movie doesn’t make expectations, then DC is scewed. Either Zaslav sells DC Comics or pulls a Marvel comics and licenses out the characters to different studios.
This anon is right. Just look at how the Dark Universe bombed.
Normies love Superman anon and most don't know or care about all DC nerd drama shit, they just see Superman and will go to a movie cause he's in it.
Every Superman movie done decently though even if it lost money due to other factors.
Critically? Probably Superman. Gunn always scores high
Anon, most Superman movies hardly made any money. Even Dr Strange has a bigger box office draw than Superman.
Superman will have a higher critic score but Fantastic Four will make more money.
Whatever happened to that Black Superman movie by Tanaheesi Coates?
Feige himself has creative oversight for Marvel Comics for some reason so however DC falls, they will always be above Marvel.
I don't think there will be a Batman 2 either way. And if this new DC Cinematic Universe fails I wonder what happens. Will WB sell the property?
I don't know, but Jurassic World Rebirth is going to make the most money.
Daredevil flop
Captain America BBC flop
Fantastic Four would be devasting. Then again Snow White seems to have failed but Disney is still moving forward with the live action Lilo and Stitch
The MCU flick. It used to be that they could put their name on a cow pie and critics would eat it up. Fantastic Four also just looks better while Superman seems to be a reactionary mess without an overarching plot, more characters than be developed, and a bunch of disconnected set pieces. It's centered on how Superman doesn't kill in a world where literally every other superhero does since WB still has PTSD from the response to Zod's neck being snapped in Man of Steel.
I don't think there will be a Batman 2 either way
Ahahahahaha no. There will always be another Batman.
of course they are moving forward with it it releases in 2 months. The bigger surprise is that they are apparently thinking about another Maleficent movie for some reason.
They're both going to bomb and in the future will be (erroneously) cited as the final nails in the coffin of superhero films.
That was The Invaders, dude.
I mean a direct sequel to the Reeves movie. I think The Penguin show is all we have left.
Sci Fi in general isn't a big draw for normies.
I'm shocked they haven't done a Hercules movie yet.
Not if Superman flops.
So its basically Whats So Funny About Truth Justice and the American Way? Except it isn't because James Gunn is marketing it as All Star Superman with Bizzaro/Ultraman as the villain. And a shit ton of characters from DC to pad the film. I saw Hawkwoman in one trailer. Why would they have her in when we JUST got introduced to Hawkman? This looks like a bloated mess
