We are so back!

It was still April 1st four hours ago.

he's not doing this out of the kindness of his heart

diLW.jpg - 1000x1000, 57.46K

green light 3 films that you know you will just write off for taxes

somehow profit?

What is Zaslav’s game?

I feel some tax breaks coming on

Why he smiles like he has a gun pointed at his head

not an April Fools' bit

What the fuck is going on at Warner Bros.?

No idea, I thought they were trying to sell Looney Tunes.

Give us Skate Jam we were promised.

He smiles like he's pointing a gun at you under the table.

Wait really, might be my second chance to 2d animation.

"Please don't come for me Luigi-san"

Warner makes a flop cartoon, sold a movie many demanded, and now make 3 times more shit noone cares about? Are they just testing the irrelevance?

They need to whore out their IP before Zaslav sells the company

Easy to see.

thought they were trying to sell Looney Tunes.

Because they tore down a derelict building?

sold a movie many demanded

They demanded it because it was cancelled. Nobody would have cared otherwise. They made out like bandits getting 50mil for this. It would have never turned a profit theatrically

Cry that WB isn't using their IP

Cry when they do

Warner makes a flop cartoon

a

implying just one

Just sell it to Disney and get it over with.

e02c16b2ef69a.jpg - 2000x1000, 168.68K

Wtf? Why?

I dunno if it was either

wait, people actually like Looney tunes? ah shit, we have to make more

or

oh god oh fuck tdebu is making 10 millions dollars that we desperately need

or

people are going to kill us if we don't make cartoons again

For 3 years straight, constantly abandon and kick the IP in mud

Now, all of a sudden greenlit not just Looney Tunes, but Tom & Jerry, and fucking Flintstones movies

I feel like I'm more confused as to why the fuck are they doing Flintstones than anything

I think it was latter, Warner was built on cartoons like Looney Tunes and they completely gutted that whole department. It's honestly ridiculous how awful their feature animation division has been compared to everyone else. Even Paramount and Sony have it better these days, and for Warner that's embarrassing.

"Oh God, Superman is gonna under preform and we put WAY to much faith in DC."

It's honestly ridiculous how awful their feature animation division has been compared to everyone else

They were always retarded and unable to create a feature film. Yeah we like their films as underrated classics, but they all bombed and bombed hard.

Executives are a weird bunch
You see, Day The Earth Blew Up and Coyote Vs Acme will bomb because it’s the idea of prior executives and they suck so they need to be cancelled or limited release to prove how much they suck
Looney Tunes 2028 is going to succeed because it is THEIR idea and they are awesome and the best and deserve another mansion
That’s how all executives think

that's it? we're just back for no reason? tdebu released, cva got bought and is coming out next year, and now all of a sudden wb is giving a shit about them?
ok what the hell sure. here's hoping said new projects are good and aren't written off in a few months. why Flintstones though.

They never abandoned animation or Looney Tunes, you've just been reading too many doomer articles and reading too many imbeciles on this board go on about how cartoons are dead because they wrote off that shitty Coyote movie. All the crap about Warner selling off the LTs is utter bullshit and the only reason they keep taking cartoons off the streaming service is because they're putting them on other channels and fast channels for free instead. It costs them money when children sit there and stream cartoons all day. Also, they've been busy remastering their entire catalog of cartoons into high-definition. Just recently the Hanna-Barbera cartoons all got new transfers. They just announced that they're finally going back and spending the money to restore the long-lost Bugs Bunny Show from the 1960s. If they didn't care about animation, why would they bother doing that? The Looney Tunes are more available now than they have ever been in their entire history and they have a ton of new animation-related Blu-Ray releases in the pipeline. They care about animation, they just don't want it on Max, which they see as an adult-focused platform. That's it.

wait so the studio being demolished wasn't a nail in the coffin
it was literally just an excuse to get more space to make more shitty HBO shows

but no Scooby Doo

don’t forget Race Jam

It's still fucked up but it's hollywood, what isn't

This, it's what happened to the Dark Crystal show at Netflix, it was the pet project of one executive that ended up leaving the company, resulting in their replacement throwing it out for their own stuff.

why are you glad? you know very well all of these IPs are going to get screws by the nowadays messed up social politics and upside down values
none of these very old IPs should get contaminated by this current and awful Zeitgeist

I too remember when Daffy Duck discussed about social politics in his new movie

yabba dabba doo posting kept Flintstones relevant enough to warrant a movie

The Flintstones hasn't really been known among kids not counting cereal and vitamins since Cartoon Network stopped rerunning it on a regular basis in 2003

Just let them go to the public domain so that way everyone can use these characters to do whatever without the need for corporations to lose money and social media manchildren to whine about

1F5Pzki.png - 640x640, 698.53K

But aren’t the Flintstones still doing reruns on Boomerang? Plus there was a DTV Flintstones movie that was a crossover promotion with WWE back almost a decade ago

Manchildren would still whine for some reason.

"You can't-a run from me forever King Boo!"

they're live-action animated with shitty cel-shading

huey.png - 1460x1708, 147.66K

Goddamn hypocrites

IMG_0573.jpg - 1170x916, 722.05K

Aren't they always making tom and Jerry movies though?

The reports say they're fully animated, although CvA is still there

It'll be for theaters instead of DVD slop

They care about animation.

Bro is meatriding hard

You're a little late for that meme. WB was parading around Looney Tunes dressed as DC heroes for their 100th anniversary while shelving their projects.

All it takes for y’all to stop shitting on WB is them greenlighting a few movies? Fucking sheep

They're not greenlit, they're "in development".

yabba dabba doo posting

What

Isn't Boomerang just a preschool channel now? Last I heard, Flintstones reruns were on MeTV.

Krillin…

there's a non-zero chance the Flintstones movie has a Mario 7 reference

Funny enough it has the same directors as the Illumination Mario movie

I’ll believe it when I see it

Just let them go to the public domain

And why would these companies do that?

All for a price of a McDonalds Happy Meal

Yes they still have reruns on Boomerang, so there are some kids who know about it, but Boomerang was never as big as Cartoon Network since it was in less homes

I don't how truthful people on Twitter are being but supposedly they got shown a sneak peak of the Flintstones movie and it looks good

It sounds like a decent idea until you realize that people are using iconic fictional characters from childhood as horror/slasher movie characters

He's going on death row, not exactly the smartest decision.

They care about animation, they just don't want it on Max, which they see as an adult-focused platform. That's it.

You know with all this animation news for WB today, my new theory is that they're waiting for Max to shut down and will just license all their animated stuff to Netflix and Prime Video.

Because slashers are dirt cheap to make. No one with money wants to do anything with these properties. They'd probably invest in the ones made by the big companies instead.

They're probably just going to outsource now instead of doing it in house.

my new theory is that they're waiting for Max to shut down and will just license all their animated stuff to Netflix and Prime Video.

Way smarter AND more profitable than having their own service. MAX cost them too much.

Exactly. Most horror movies in general are cheap as hell to produce, and are especially tailor made for the jaded indie studios

That's exactly what Dreamworks ended up doing after The Wild Robot

no source or reports outside this one twitter post.

I can't figure out who here is more retarded

WB has been doing this starting with The Lego Movie for their then-new animation studio back in the early-2010s

so many retarded zoomers on twatter kept spamming links to the Looney Tunes restorations on archive.org after LT got pulled off Max that WB noticed and had it taken down

FUCK

Because if you don't own the IP, you can't milk it. Disney copies old fairy tales for sure but they add enough original content to them that they can copyright it and make money off it.

Then again, Universal adapted horror literature with some of their horror movies (i.e. Dracula, Frankenstein and Invisible Man)

I highly doubt any of these movies aside from the Flintstones actually reach the production stage.

Dark Universe is looking peak (the theme park, not the botched abortion of a movie verse).

Mainly because there marketing sucked.

Most executives think like that but not all executives.

>They just announced that they're finally going back and spending the money to restore the long-lost Bugs Bunny Show from the 1960s

When was this announced?

True, but still among kids, it's kinda niche.

Your'e not wrong.

I wonder if they'll make licensing deals with Lugosi Enterprises, Karloff Estate and Chaney Entertainment?

They better be 2D just like TDTEBU

It’s going to be CGI mixed with human actors and you know it will be

Judging by the news, the WB ones will be fully animated. So Minions tier at worst.

So more cocomelon shit

CG Looney Tunes
Oof we’ll see how that goes

I remembered seeing it and it surprised me how amazing it was back then. Maybe they could pull it off
