Metroid Dread gave Samus Metroid-like energy draining abilities she uses on living beings because she's also part Metroid now, and spurious scaling from some manga bullshit might put her at universe level or some dumb shit.

Issue Xeelee Sequence as a setting is that it is, at least loosely, bound by a set of laws of physics. Like the reason they can time travel is because Baxter allows for causality to fall away, so you can travel to before you are born and kill your father but continue to exist.
So by this measure, characters capable of ignoring physical laws (mostly through just not exploring the effects their abilities would require) present a massive issue.
Let's go with the time travel thing again to explain an issue. You have Goku and you want to beat Goku. You can travel back in time and kill baby Goku, but this will have zero effect on the Goku of the present. You only created a split timeline where Goku died as a baby.

Samus vs Kerrigan is great thematically. Orphans honed and trained for combat that become wetworks killers, spliced with a hodgepodge of alien DNA that grants them exotic powers, and have complicated relationships with the donors of said essences. They even have a neat irrelevant connection in that they're both named after athletes, since Samus' surname apparently comes from Pele's real name and Kerrigan was obviously named after Nancy Kerrigan. But yeah, ideally Kerrigan and the Zerg fight another army. Maybe the Tyranids.

So this proves good animations trumps all, even a dogshit match-up can be saved with good animations.
