She's now in a rehabilitation ward where they started trying to see if they can get her to move her leg at all today. I failed to launch after highschool and never really pulled myself together, so I've still been living with my parents at 39. But my dad died in May 2022 (which I posted here about) so it's just been her and me. I've been kicking myself all week over how much of a burden I've been on her (and my father, when he was alive). I was sufficiently unable to deal with it that at about 1 AM I started calling all the numbers on the list my mom made for me when she went in for cancer surgery in November, the only one who picked up was the priest from the church we started going to when my dad died (though my attendance has been very spotty) who got me to calm down enough to eat a little and go to bed at about 3. I've been having to suddenly start keeping normie hours, which I'm not at all used to and I've barely managed to just keep myself fed and rested enough for the most basic functionality even with the church helping us by arranging for people to take me to and from the hospital (I don't have a driver's license). I won't be able to stay up for Toonami/Toonami General anymore, which I will miss greatly, but not nearly as much as I'll miss my mother being able to live normally (and my father being alive at all; looking at everything that need to be done to get the house ready for my mom to come back to it as a cripple, I've been realizing how much I (and she) have let everything fall apart even more than before since his death). She is a far better mother than I deserve and she doesn't deserve to have this happen to her.
