Would you want him as your dad?
Would you want him as your dad?
No.
Why not?
Hell no. Hank himself is a pretty shitty dad too though, honestly. Out of anyone I'd want Dale as a dad.
Have you seen the show?
Nta, but he abuses his wives, gave Hank PTSD, and sent Bobby to military school for fun
He's annoying so no.
My father is already Hank
Yeah, he never beat Hank. He did everything else, but at least he didn't beat him.
On the hand he's a bastard to Hank and Peggy. But he's really nice to Bobby and Good Hank.
That doesn’t absolve him of being a piece of shit hellbent on making everyone he ever met hate him
OP... do you have something you want to talk about?
I get self concious about whether I'm a good dad but when I hear anons explain how their dads are in these threads I usually feel better about my abilities.
Hell no, he's just insufferable to be around. I don't want to have to constantly replace plates.
Not Bobby. Or Dale. Or GH. Or Topsy. Or that Japanese woman he fucked
Bobby
Bobby's too sheltered from Cotton's worst behavior. If he found out what Cotton did to his grandma, he wouldn't like him anymore.
Dale
Dale's crazy and think time-traveling Mongols took his DNA
GH
Literal baby. Didi probably told him the truth about him in the new show.
Topsy
He's another senile old guy who still thinks it's WWII.
that Japanese woman he fucked
Michiko only knew him for a few months at most while he was invalid. She only got to know him when he was on his best behavior. How would she react to Cotton on his normal days?
What the hell? Hank is a good dad
Come on, the love he has for Bobby is pretty conditional. Not the worst dad ever, but he strikes me as that type of parent that breathes down your neck constantly.
Come on, the love he has for Bobby is pretty conditional.
This has been proven multiple times not to be the case, as much as he tries to project otherwise. I do agree with the original claim that Dale would be a better dad, due to not being nearly as emotionally stunted. But Hank is a good dad, just has a touch of the tism.
Hank's not a bad dad, he's certainly the best one out of the KOTH cast, and definitely better than the dads from other Fox cartoon sitcoms. But Hank being a boring stick in the mud who rarely connects to Bobby's passions while pushing his own on him annoys some viewers because it's more realistic than Homer strangling Bart or Peter raping Meg.
If he found out what Cotton did to his grandma, he wouldn't like him anymore.
Do what? Rush her during a pregnancy?
Come on, the love he has for Bobby is pretty conditional.
He wants Bobby to conform to particular, often unreasonable expectations, but I don't think his love is conditional though it may appear that way because of how emotionally and socially stunted he is. One of his character-establishing moments is in the pilot when he tells Bobby he loves him no matter what.
Not the worst dad ever, but he strikes me as that type of parent that breathes down your neck constantly.
This and I'd find it really hard to deal with that growing up.
Use her as a footstool.
This and I'd find it really hard to deal with that growing up.
Exactly. That guy there had a point that it's more annoying because it's more realistic than Peter ass-fucking Stewie and Meg. I'm not like Bobby at all, but I grew up with (both) parents that just controlled me 24/7 and tried to push their own on me and it hits close to home. I'm a person that just wants to be left alone and have my freedom. I don't dislike Hank for wanting to set Bobby in the right path when it comes to some things or want him to celebrate Bobby being a degenerate, but he just sort of strikes me as that sort of guy that just can't win with, even if he had any other son than Bobby. I don't see him as an abuser or the worst parent ever, but he seems super hard to deal with, whether it's intentional or not.
It's a roll of the dice. He'll either be an asshole to you or be an asshole to everyone but you.
I'm gonna be him when I'm old. I'm already racist and homophobic so I still got a long way.
If he was cool with me for some reason and I saw how he treats most people, I would not want to be around him.
Bobby is fat. Hank is a terrible dad for allowing his son to be that fat.
Dude was a legit terror for his wife. He dragged her into a plot to assassinate Fidel fucking Castro, for God's sake. The fact that Hank grew up as well adjusted as he turns out is nothing short of a miracle
The Tilly episodes are never fun because the writers understandably don't know how to make an abused old woman funny.
The one where Hank goes on spring break with her and we learn about what Cotton did to her is funny, even though Tilly and her friends were rude to Hank
Peter raping Meg
I thought Jerome and Quagmire (almost) did that.
Hasn't everyone in FG raped at least once?
Would you want him as your dad?
no. he doesn't have any shins
He almost raped her in the episode where he decided he was a redneck. Season 5. Maybe anon meant that.
Stewie hasn't, but he did steal Brian's DNA and use it to impregnate himself.
I don't think Joe or Cleveland did, either.
Cotton, you're back from the dead?
Nah, Cotton wouldn't use Hank's Wife name like that
This is nonsense. Hank is a wonderful dad. He's not perfect, but that's not a reasonable expectation to have for any parent. He tries to get Bobby to be normal within reason because that's an important part of socialization that you need to teach your kids. If you enable your child's 'specialness' too much, they end up ostracized by their peers, developmentally stunted, and resentful. But Hank still gave Bobby plenty of leeway to be weird and explore his own interests. He even got to share in those interests at times (propane comedy show, shooting, rodeo). It's an incredibly fine line to walk as a parent where you try to encourage your child's passion and creativity without letting them be cringe. Hank walked that line admirably. He's a proper authoritative parent. Not overbearing and authoritarian like his dad, but definitely not weak and permissive.
Hank is a wonderful dad.
He's a good dad, but I wouldn't say "wonderful."
The first step to accepting that Hank is a good Father with reasonable intentions is understanding that Bobby is a fucking weirdo who can be easily taken advantage of if left to pursue his weirdo interest
Sometimes Hank has to push himself onto Bobby because otherwise Bobby would have gotten donuts and other sugary goods thrown at him while on a walk-way in a mall posing for new clothes
When I was a teenager, my dad used to trim my pubic hair. He had me lie down naked on his bed so he could cut at it with a pair of scissors. He also used to pop pimples on my face and neck to the point where I'd be crying and begging him to stop. He also showered with me, smelled my armpits and penis after I showered, and walked around the house in his underwear a lot. He signed me up for 4 different sports despite my being an unatheltic coward, all of which were horrible experiences that made him resent me even harder.
What
It would be funny if Louis did it more
