They had a plan- they wanted to make Transformers Prime their flagship show and invested the most money(along with having Rescue Bots as the junior version to start kids early), with GI Joe as a backup.
But then both shows disappointed, and TFP especially could not recoup it's money in toy sales. All eyes were on TF as a franchise after the 07 movie, and between disappointing(but financially successful) sequels, animated being tossed around the schedule,Prime being on a channel no one really had, it stagnated the momentum.
Then, somehow,MLP got a big fandom and visibility, which took Hasbro by surprise, but even then they really didn't properly attempt at cashing in until after the peak.But when they do, they start flooding the market attempting to recapture both what made the show appealing, and what made fandom projects work- and failed miserably.

Adventure Time's 10th season is a lie and a scam. It had 9 originally, before they cut up seasons 7/8 to "make" another one. There's enough episodes for 10-11 seasons to be fair.
