You're conflating the schizos from the regular people just there. Tumblr's website was decent enough to catalog art and other stuff because what are you going to use, Deviant Art? The porn ban included artists which were a decent draw on the site and some of them had to do NSFW because of commissions and shit. That also weakened fandom circles and made interacting with people worse, which Tumblr was actually bad at.
