I yearn for the peak years of the fandom 2012-2014.
No other series had such a fandom with it that made its universe feel so full of life and potential with all the fanart, stories, animations, etc.

Season 1 and the S2 opening two-parter were peak. Genuine 10/10 show in its age demographic. Great writing, great characters, great voice acting, great worldbuilding. Quality dipped after that and I stopped watching after S4. Not that I think it got bad. It was still pretty good and sometimes you could see the spark was still there, it just wasn't as good and I lost interest.

The last two seasons really suffered from an over-bloated cast of characters. It tried to split its focus on too much and everyone suffered for it.

I continue to wonder why ponies continue to be banned in a world of frogs and Wojaks which derail more threads and boards than ponies ever could.

First couple seasons are solid kino, I even like season 3. But season 4 onward it became clear that hasbro was starting to meddle a lot more - the writing and songs got significantly weaker, the plugs for new toys became more obvious, and you could tell it had gone from being a project that the creative team was genuinely passionate about to just another job to pay the bills.

I'll take this opportunity to ask: isn't the rule about them kinda outdated nowaday? We're not in 2010 anymore when it was gigantic, people aren't going to make 1000+ threads of them on Anon Babble each day.

If you know why the clusterfuck of a season ending happened, it's a little more understandable. Essentially Hasbro corporate cancelled the show and the last episode was the series finale. After all the scripts were locked and animation had already begun the show was uncanceled and the crew had to somehow make the premise usable for several season without any delay to fix things.

In retrospect giving Anon Babble its own board was a mistake - it took a lot of creativity away from Anon Babble while also giving the worst, most cancerous aspects of the fandom a place to fester and grow.
