Seeing Looney Tunes fall into cultural irrelevance is nothing short of depressing
Anon I don't know how to tell you this but the Looney Tunes haven't been culturally relevant since the mid-2000s at the absolute most. Getting a bit of controversy over films getting canned or being shit and appearing in multiversus were the sum total of their impact in the last decade and a half.
coomable goth werewolf girl with exposed tummy is more popular then a franchise that hasnt been popular since ghetto daffy duck shirts in 2003
No fucking shit sherlock
Anon, I don't know how to tell you this, but despite what Wayne's World may have implied, most people don't want to fuck Bugs Bunny in drag.
cultural irrelevance
it's just porn
Space Jam is one of my favorite movies of all time
Looney Tunes is a sitcom from the year that one
PARTY ROCKERS IN THE HOUSE TONIGHT
song came out
At least Looney Tunes have that zany wacky metaenergy to be somewhat relevant to zoomers. And it has Lola/other girls so it won't die out completely any time soon.
Now look at Popeye. Dude got his movie canned, attractions at Universal park removed, no new cartoons or anything, but somehow every generation is still knows him. Characters like Casper just fucking died after 90s completely (both in-universe and out)
And that is entirely on WB fucking up pretty much every IP they own. The fact that people had to BEG for the fucking Looney Tunes movie to actually be released, when WB used to CELEBRATE and treat new Looney Tunes content as a big deal, is bad
WB fucking up pretty much every IP they own
When did it start to be like this? 00s something?
I loved the shit they were pulling out in 90s but everything past 2003 was just mid and ever since mid-10s it was just a pointless IP juggling without any substance.
mid 2010s, when they started putting out those DCEU movies
The last memorable version of these characters was from The Looney Tunes Show. Which is back in 2011. It's to be expected things would fade after that long. It's almost impressive how they managed to screw up a franchise this well known like this.
To be fair Popeye is basically joined at the hip to one of the most common foods ever, makes him very easy to remember
I really like that somehow people know Popeye is still around. Even after Popeye's Chicken dropped him from the advertising and logos. I don't know how or why but I'm glad for it.
Now you know how your parents felt when betty boop and popeye didn't get popular.
character designed to lure in horny furries has more porn than characters who weren't meant to be in porn
Stop the presses.
nigga please
Posts a character with little push
Wendy from casper is hot. Harvey comics had top tier lolis in their line up
idgaf op i dislike helluva boss i just want more porn of my cat husband sylvester since i think hes more hotter than the rest of the characters that are considered hot like pepe or bugs or smth
Who will be forgotten first?
between casper and popeye? definitely casper, at least popeye cartoons still hold up but casper will always be a lame-o
He has over 2000, and for a furry male that's actually a lot and indicates significant interest
For comparison Death has around the same amount and he has double what almost all Hazbin/Helluva males have and only the top males have comparable numbers
That’s just how things go. Something gains popularity, and if it’s fortunate, it becomes a phenomenon. But over time, it gradually loses its relevance, just like everything eventually does. It happened to Popeye, and one day it will happen to someone like Superman. No one is immune. The best they can hope for is to be irrelevant, but not forgotten.
alright, fellas, which one of the termite terrace boys do you think is a full on furfaggot? My money's on Bob Clampett
what the fuck is that art, it looks so hideous
Lola is way hotter than Loona tho
Felix the Cat who fizzled out in record time.
I'm a little surprised that happened honestly. Why couldn't he stick around?
Kiddo, Looney Tunes fell into irrelevance on July 10th, 1989.
But keep in mind, anon. That Popeye hasn’t had much going on for decades, and yet plenty of people still know who he is. Meanwhile, Bugs Bunny has had tons of content over the past decade, including games, TV shows, movies, and comics. And yet he's still about as recognizable as Popeye, despite Popeye basically doing nothing for years.
This makes me think that if WB ever stops pushing the Looney Tunes, they’ll fade out pretty quickly. But hey, that’s just my two cents.
Psh. More tranny rabbit boipussy for me, son.
Felix died largely because he couldn't adapt to the post-20s age, and more importantly didn't have the supporting cast to keep up and make shorts on their own
Felix is a strong character. But who else is there for him? Literally no one, all the ones spammed are from the 50s show and no one likes them.
Mickey had Goofy and Donald in succession and they spun off to their own shorts that all three could eventually come together with. Porky later had Daffy and Bugs and the rest of them come up and hoist their own shorts.
Felix's series is just Felix. One character can't keep things going forever
I liked his bag of tricks show!
and no one likes them
I liked Poindexter. He was always kinda nice to Felix even when everybody else wasn't
he's still about as recognizable as Popeye
Eh, I don't know about that. Is Popeye really that known? Outside of Boomerang or Me TV reruns I don't think I ever see him anywhere anymore. Does anyone now a days even know who he is? Meanwhile Bugs is still relatively well known and shows up in marketing and various projects all over.
The Popeye raft ride is still kicking and probably still will be for a while given that a Lost Continent replacement is a bigger priority for IOA.
Bugs Bunny has a shitload of memes surrounding him even outside Big Chungus. The only thing zoomers know about Popeye is "The Sinbad the Sailor short was the first shonen anime" and how he inspired Mario and One Piece.
Character designed to be rule34 bait from trendy zoomer show has more smut than franchise whose sexy female characters can be counted on one hand
Whoa, holy shit, stop the presses this is big news!
Oh no, not the same outdated Hollywood related gags that only North America would get, nooooooo!
Seriously, Back in Action exposed how shallow the Looney Tunes were as characters outside of their waning 90's relevance being coupled to street culture and NBA's biggest star.
It's weird to think that both Casper's and Little Lulu's relevance ultimately deflated simultaneously in the 90's.
When they won awards and acclaim for LOTR.
Betty had the same kind of street appeal as the LT. There was all sorts of merch depicting her as a trendy 90's girl.
Bugs doesn't have an actual statue dedicated to him like Popeye does.
Yeah, we know, Don.
The original cast of Thimble Theatre is largely forgotten, but Popeye is a Navy symbol. And he fought a somewhat popular anime character in Death Battle.
Think on this: Bugs managed to outlive Oswald and Br'er Rabbit even while the latter was a character on Splash Mountain.
These posts in this thread are just the usual doom-cooming and snarkslopping about relevance from irrelevant failed experts
