Despite everything that happened during Civil War Tony, in his solo series, got some fantastic characterization in that era. Director of SHIELD Tony was just amazing and it feels so awful that the immediate next run removes all those character moments and turns him into a carbon copy of MCU Tony.

The MCU was the death of Marvel. Symbolically hailed by cancelling EMH. That was the last gasp of TRUE Marvel. RIP.

The good times. Before the Disneyfication.

Still laugh my ass off that Tony Stark was supposed to be the 'good guy' and Cap the 'bad guy' despite all the downright evil shit the Registration side pulled before, during, and after the whole debacle.

You mean that retread of a story from the 80s that already called out how stupid an idea that was?

Movie Civil War felt so hollow because outside the Avengers there aren't any superhumans and the movie Avengers were already a SHIELD project. There was no New Warriors or Nitro and no Stamford Incident so there was no grieving mother spitting in Stark's face saying "people like you are why this happened". The inciting incident of Civil War can't involve the Avengers directly, that misses the whole point

tony was right. get fucked.

Cope

Tony did nothing wrong

Tony was a hypocrite, especially considering less than a few years prior he was having a melty over the government being in control of his precious armor enough to go on a rampage.

I'm with cap.

I've read somewhere that CW was originally pitched for the Ultimate Universe. I don't know if it's true but ifi it is then fuck that makes so much more sense.

Tony has a point, but he went about it as comically evilly as someone could. I don't think it's unreasonable to want to know just who some of the people who have the capability of drowning the Eastern sea board on a whim are, but I don't really get why it needed to be public record. Why couldn't S.H.I.E.L.D or the Avengers just maintain these records secretly?

Tony never was a Fascist, he's just a Randian and animated by the knowledge that everybody else is a complete waste of oxygen.

post mcu timeline when Civil War happaned again and Carol outright slaughtered Tony and everyone forgot and forgave her

there was no grieving mother spitting in Stark's face saying "people like you are why this happened".

That was Viola Davis's character.

Tony did nothing wrong

He LIED and kept LYING

I mean if youre gonna pretend no civilians died when Ultron lifted Sokovia as a meteor you have to be high they just didnt show it during Age of Ultron, then Hulk had a rampage where he murdered a bunch of people too but again during the movie we just see Tony's pov and quips but those are the incidents mainly.

It's not a comic about data security, it's a comic about Iron Man building a prison in a hell dimension and a cancer cure being weaponized.

Never let them forget the negative zone prison.

Reminder that the whole thing was a revenge plot.
The main line universe' Tony is dead. The one that's kicking around is one the Avengers snagged from another universe while he was a boy, brainwashed and aged up as a replacement. Kid didn't appreciate it.

and that was the end of Marvel, everyone died and the current characters are homosexual clones designed in a lab to be gay and the inverse of their true selves who died on this fateful day.

Get off his dick, Reed.

The biggest issue I have with movie Civil War is t hat we rushed to have the Avengers at each other's throats and break up the team when it barely feels like we've even had an Avengers team at all. The first movie was pretty much all set up but then everyone was back to their own solos so the only real Avengers we had was Ultron and they split up almost immediately after. It was way too soon. It was shit in the comics too and I resent them rushing to this story like it was the most important one of all time but at least their was weight behind the characters splitting if only from history.

Nah Steve was meant to be right thats why he is assasinated as a martyr literally cus being correct gets him killed.

Im fine with them rushing to Civil War what I hate is they had the fight at a fucking airport instead of in the middle of new york or any populated place when the entire point of the comic is they get so distracted by their issues they cause more property damage with the biggest fight being in NYC. In the movie this would mirror the alien invasion with the difference being this would be 100% their fault and they sidestep this to make a much less serious or dramatic fight happen at the airport that feels more like a kamen rider tv "fight at abandoned empty location" than an epic movie event.

Not all of them, Reed and Doom are still the originals, Miles and Peter as well along. I don't think there is many others however, Franklin Richards is debatable because Sue and the kids did die when the ship exploded during the final incursion.

the whole thing was all a bit too safe and clean. It basically amounted into a gigantic spat rather than a huge issue. Hell the whole thing came more off like a jealous rampage about who Cap's real BFF was than an ideological debate.

I often get the impression that modern writers don't really understand the true meaning of what they write is.

Why would anyone willingly work with the government when it has consistently been shown to be corrupt and staffed full of people who work for evil organizations?

Die, you treacherous skrull. You are not the real Pym.

1. It's not about protecting the corrupt and evil people, it's about protecting the people from the evil government.
2. That's politics!

Continuity too much work even when it is the literal job. However I do think the Miles thing will come up again because before Maker went to fuck around in the current Ultimate Universe he offered Miles the chance to go with him because apparently he 'hoped Miles would do the same if the position was reversed', and left him with device that he could contact him with if he changed his mind. Likely will come up in the big Ultimate/616 crossover later this year.

I think its stupid for a blanketed registration act but like omega level mutants should be at least reregistered if not contained. Imagine if xavier had a crash out and decided to give everyone on earth a fucking stroke or something. Or that bitch from the new mutants movie where her unconscious nightmare dreams created a literal tornado bear demon. Its retarded how X-men comics act like mutants are prejudiced for existing without taking responsibility for the more dangerous examples. Non mutant Mutates are also apart of this too

Imagine if xavier had a crash out and decided to give everyone on earth a fucking stroke or something

I don't have to imagine, that scenario basically happened in House of M except it was Wanda instead of Charles but same general idea.

Tony Stark is a fascist, but he is willing to dox a government super-kill squad because....

It is kind of a weird premise after 20 years

Well it's not so much continuity as it's just either a complete disregard or not fully understanding the true weight of what they write is. Like Beast spent the last few years getting vilified, then killed and replaced with a younger copy of himself and that's just the end of it. We're supposed to justt accept that as being fixed or better but the truth is a character we've known and loved for years is still a dead villain now and this time copy bullshit isn't the same thing. All of the x-men are dead plant baby clones. New writers see a clone or a copy and think that's the same thing.

beast sad.jpg - 1280x721, 64.23K

Isnt that the comic where wanda essentially wipes like 90% of the mutant populations powers away? What a stupid fucking premise

IMG_5525.png - 511x1005, 742.32K

also can't their shame or whatever lead to characters like onslaught without them even trying to?

No that’s the twist ending, the premise is “every super hero gets what they want” but what Magneto wants comes first, so he’s basically in charge of everything and mutants treat regular humans like shit

Sounds like a good start

They killed Hitler for six gorillions, but Jean Grey literally omnicided multiple planets. She can't even stop herself whenever she does.

I hate how no one takes this into account or even mentions how unstable mutants are in the comics hat afaik arent used as a strawman for racists. Id kill for a nuanced character to basically decry racism against mutants inherently while still bringing up the dangers of omega level mutants. But i dont read comics as much as some other fags here so maybe they already have such a character i just dont know

Wasn't there a what-if where this ended up being the answer, where the avengers ended up policing and holding their own accountable, and the only one who had records of everyone's secret identities was Captain America because he was the only one who everyone actually trusted to know them?

I feel like at least into the mid 90s the mutant hate was, while hardly subtle, was at least a bit more restrained. Most people who disliked mutants did so out of fear and ignorance and usually in hushed voices and whispers. If pressed you'd get some answer like "I don't really know" or "It makes me nervous." The fear was the angle more than the hate. Occasionally you'd get people like Stryker who tapped into that fear and rile people up.

The Xavier Institute's general situation like the Gay Agenda setting up gay milita training camps inside of Iran while also running a global program that specifically grabs all the gay teenagers who got abused by their parents or community.
They aren't trying to be sensible.

Yes, but it’s also how it played out in the main continuity. The Initiative showed Tony was the only one who people needed to give their identities to, which is why Norman Osborn went after him during Dark Reign.

I don't endorse it, but it is just a fact of industry. Beast is a great example of this too, fucker was a member of the Illuminati when they were probably at the worst time to be after one of Charles deaths.

They were throwing anything and everything at the wall for events to make sales. Problem is they will do something like OMD in Spider-Man and we still live with the continuity consequences of that because a few guys at marvel cannot cum without their own Paul.

There was an old way of describing how to write in the big 2. Basically it goes that you're getting your turn to play with all the toys. You can do whatever you want but at the end of the day you need to put the toys back in the box and not break them. Well modern writers intentionally break the toys but then think it's all okay because they get a new one to replace it.

Don't forget the space gulag

images (10).jpg - 263x192, 11.72K

Gulag for fucking space ants

Because the real serious fight was Bucky Tony and Steve with Zemo pulling the strings. They had to get the dumb cgi out the way before shit got real.

Question why the fuck didn't Asgard declare war on Earth after Tony cloned Thor as his personal weapon. Like that shit should have led to serious heat with the gods.

And yet somehow only Hank Pym is ever treated badly for his, by this point, far FAR more trivial actions.

Asgard was destroyed, then reborn on Earth with its inhabitants also being reborn in human beings, then it was destroyed again. Thor beat up iron man for cloning him though

I think they were all dead at the time which was why Tony cloned Thor in the first place. I may be misremembering the order of events though.
