Warner Bros and Discovery are now in the process of splitting up.
This is due to Warner Bros finding a buyer to bail out the losses.
The original buy out got rejected by the FCC due to owning too many TV channels, namely TBS and CNN.
Both Warner Bros and Discovery have decided to split up so the Warner Bros side's but out can go through.
Warner Bros is keeping the film library, the cartoons (Looney Tunes and related TV shows, movies and specials, 1934-1967 MGM shorts, 1933-1958 Popeye shorts, Hanna Barbera, pre-1992 Ruby Spears, cartoons based on their movies, Spielberg/Ruegger shows, DC shows, CN/AS originals, ect), HBO, Cinemax, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, the IPs and DC Comics.
Discovery is getting everything else but their IPs are staying with Warner Bros.
Buyout was a bidding war and there was a winner.
Either Disney or NBC Universal will buy Warner Bros out once the split happens.
Set to be finalized by late 2025 at the earliest, 2026 on average.
