Been reading a lot of them lately and it’s interesting how many become reality years later. Like they’re sort of testing grounds for potential ideas, and a way to gauge fan reactions in a time before the internet

I always thought a cool idea would be “What If…Bucky had lived?” where Bucky is rescued by the US instead of the Soviets and becomes the Cap of the 50s and 60s instead of Mace and Burnside

What was stopping him just getting them amputated anyway? Sure it would be painful but it’s relatively simple to amputate arms. And it’s better to have the scars than the many arms you can’t hide

I could see the US experimenting on him similar to the Soviets did and similar to what happened to Burnside and Monroe. Him being the director of SHIELD would be a cool alternative though

Maybe it was a pretty risky procedure, I mean you gotta think his entire torso anatomy is altered for the arms. Besides it worked out well of him in the end, he became a stronger and more popular hero with the extra arms.
