Y'know I always thought Toffee was Eclipsa's descendant. Back way before we knew much about him, I thought Toffee was after Star and the Wand so he could take away the power that was his by Birthright, so that the kingdom could be invaded and returned to Monsterkind.
Its not just you guys, its like we reverted back to pre 2016 Anon Babble.
Wrong, or at least I believe it is something else, you see, it coincides way too good with the whole Anon Babble shit going on at the time, the whole presentation of monster being absolutely evil and then out of nowhere changing them to victims and even going as far as turning a veteran into a villain, it all seems to be aimed against rep party.
Season 2 really gave a different impression of where the show was going. There was some kind of connection or parallel between Marco and Tofee that was completely dropped.
I still remember that bullshit with Marco and the cape and I knew the show was going downhill.

don't forget the plot threads that never got addressed and the blood moon ball crap.
there's also the fact those spells are living creatures (sort of)
There was already the Mewndependence Day episode where the Mewmans were depicted as kinda assholes colonizers and their history as propaganda laden, and how they hoarded corn.
The seeds of the latter season stuff were there. But a lot of it was incredibly hacknied, Toffee went from being a major threat to getting face rolled by Star going Super Saiyan, Eclipsa being "a good guy" as a twist was immediately revealed and thus didn't feel like a twist.
Honestly the retcon that bugged me the most was the Mewmans just being people, which makes "Mewberty" and a bunch of other episodes completely irreconcilable.
Maybe it was always gonna end that way and the writers just ran out of gas after season 2, or they were making it up as they were going along and ran out of ideas.
I just want to believe it could have been better because of how good the first two seasons were.
it was 100% a tumblr roastie that drove the series into the ground.
