I've been wondering - is Anon Babble the place where people could talk about Welcome Home? It got its newest update a few weeks ago and it's ongoing. But it's a mixed media project, so I wasn't sure what Anon Babble thought about it.
I've been wondering - is Anon Babble the place where people could talk about Welcome Home...
If you have to wonder if it's Anon Babble, odds are IT AIN'T Anon Babble
puppets anon it counts.
Ah, cool. So, does anyone wanna talk about it?
Only if it's about my girl Julie.
isnt this some stupid 18+ webshow with puppets?
Replace the autistic faggot and became the new main character
Based as fuck.
She said "shit," she's naughty
It's a horror ARG with lots of different media involved. Here's a good example of all the stuff in it:
youtube.com
surprised she doesn’t have some sort of competition with Sally both are “stars” and Julie represents the sun
The autistic faggot is still here welcomehomerestorationproject.net
They have different goals, I think - Julie is just happy about anything, Sally's obsessed with stardom and drama and shit
What kind of 31 minutos is this?
still knowing the neighborhood that’d cause some drama especially with Julie’s mental breakdown over possibly returning to her band.
Post it
i remember wallyfag's doll request
Only drama we know of is that Frank saw some shit
There's always the Unfiction thread on Anon Babble.
Explain
Let's be honest most of us know more about that than the ARG.
I was under the impression the ARG died when the creator had that mental breakdown because they were worried they'd never live up to expectation.
What's happened since then, all I remember is that Wally supposedly sees us through the screen and the house is probably the villain
More like Sesame Street if Big Bird was secretly the Anti-Christ.
Like I said in the OP - there was a major update on April 12 or 13th, I forget. Plenty of new content. It's still going strong - the creator is even doing a Q&A on Tumblr right now
Are people talking about this organically? It seems like it had some hype initially mostly because of its potential, but the author didn't capitalize on it fast enough and the moment passed.
I was under the impression the ARG died when the creator had that mental breakdown because they were worried they'd never live up to expectation.
That is funny because there was another creator (a teen one too) who actually went through that last year.
I suppose it's about if you're still interested. It updated very recently which is why I made this thread and was wondering people wanted to discuss/share art/shitpost.
Top tier puppet cutie she deserves more love..... and by love i mean porn.
She is vewy cute and troubled
the neighborhood is apparently always going through shit Eddie constantly gets treated like shit same with the bird and Julies family apparently wants her back
was it the creator of that terrible Godzilla series
going by the art anon posted he’s talking about the FPE creator
True - Eddie gets put through the ringer, Poppy got fucking bricked in her house (???wtf), and there seems to be a lot of problems between Julie not acquiescing to her family's desires to be one color, join their band, play an instrument, etc. Clown (the creator of Welcome Home if you didn't know) also just said recently homophobia is gonna be a blatant theme so that should be a fucking blast
The recent update was totally Julie centric for the people that love some Julie
She's canonically genderfluid according to the creator. So the thing with her family is absolutely going to be "family chud".
no one should take about this because its not even a real thing, its like a retarded zoomer collective headcanon
What does that even mean
Holy shit this is still going?
Did it finally become more than just a "ARG" proof of concept?
That was said fairly early on anon.
Apparently the whole cast is autistic too because the creator is and Wally makes a big deal about how the reader doesn't judge him for being different.
I kinda get what's going on here. The core horror is this idea of having a Sesame Street-like wholesome place only for bitter realities coming and crashing in on it.
If I were a betting man, we're gonna learn as time goes on that the puppets are actually the cast/crew of the show who ran off into their fictional world to escape their own torment but since said world was shaped by their minds, the emotional torment came to follow them in a cutesier more cuddly way and they're trying to break out by finding people to replace them.
Yup - check out the website, there's a ton of multimedia fully voiced, animated, etc. stuff to peruse. Hours of content
I think my real question has anything resembling the underlying story come out yet?
when are we getting more Sally I originally thought she would be massively important
I would say so - as far as things are going, it seems that every update focuses on one of the characters dealing with the uncanny/uncomfortable nature of their reality. The story seems to be going towards each character realizing that things shouldn't be how they are. So far Wally, Eddie, Poppy, and now Julie have been shown in this light, and Clown (the creator) has specified that each character will get a spotlight. Also, it's hard to explain, but the websites changes are progressive, such as the town map zooming in each update to show the darkness of the woods
She's been pretty important in several updates as an instigator of fucking with people. But I'm sure she'll get her time to shine pun not intended
I think he means it’s a fandom built around nothing. When it first rose to prominence it was a few drawings and a paragraph of lore, so i sort of get where anon’s coming from.
Ah, I get it. It's not that anymore though
I'm sorry but I can't stomach that art
it just her being a literal star would have some interesting interactions with the House void whatever
More like Sesame Street if Big Bird was secretly the Anti-Christ.
You have a point, nothing can surprissed the peak of puppet horror that was the episode of El fantasma del estudio.
That would be really cool to see. I feel like under her bragadocious personality she has some insecurities that'll be exposed. We kinda saw it when she was incredibly uncomfortable and pained by having to stay up on a christmas tree for hours
Being serious here, try the unfiction general on Anon Babble, it fits the bill and is pretty much meant to discuss these kinds of project.
I see - I'm put off immediately by a bunch of creepypasta waifus farting images but good to know it exists
I’d imagine being a star gives her a reasonable chip on her shoulder wonder what House could pull to bring her down like Eddie
Maybe the oppressive darkness of House would challenge her. Sadly I don't think she'd win
It's also just the nature of how these "corrupted children's media" horror things tend to go.
You know what I can't help but think of whenever I see this genre?
I remember being a kid and thinking the Happy Appy creepypasta was scary. Looking back, there's a certain hilarity to the random 9/11 insert
I think what interests me most about Welcome Home over other "corrupted childrens media" stories is that it's mainly about the characters having to hide who they are to fit a 60's/70's moral demographic. I know it's gay to be interested in such things on Anon Babble, but compared to other things where its "one character is evil" or "it's posessed by a dead person," it feels pretty fresh.
She probably has some of the most sway in the Neighborhood being the whole entertainment system so I can see her moment at least being second to last
That's fair, that she might be the one wrangling everyone up to make plays and storybooks does imply she has a lot of control over everyone else
The art is nice but the creepypasta story around it I can give or take. Funny how it's basically an entire project themed around being unsettled by Muppet eyes.
Nah anon, I get that but I'm still waiting for the specific hook here. In the original reveal of the ARG, the heavy implication is that the people who dug this stuff up went absolutely insane and just became mindless drones dedicated to looking for more because of some outside force infesting their brains.
It's why I went for this theory here there still needs to be something involving like, how all this came to be.
Corrupted children's media can work well so long as it knows to not just parody the things we grew up on but invade the sense of innocence we associate with those things.
I only recognize two of the tools here.
Fair, fair - I think the implication that the characters could be their actors is a real possibility. But I understand, right now, it's not explained
I just really appreciate the work put into this ARG with actual puppets and toys it’s nice
I also really like Sally god I stuck to her like glue
Yeah her best friend and the happies character in the show breaking down really hard over a flower right in front of his eyes.
They're all cow tools
Frank and Julie interest me so much because this update plays up that they're so close but we know Frank is gay. I feel like that has some meaning within all of it
Bug and plants also go together so there’s that.
The creator shouldn't have given the game away so soon. The enormous amount of fun in the beginning stemmed from the fact that we all knew it was an ARG but it was being treated like lost media. That was fun. That was a LOT of fun. The creator shouldn't have gone legit so fast, he should have kept up the mystique. Hell, he should never have told us this wasn't some lost show from the 70s. I think the fandom would be bigger then, people love a good mystery.
I think this whole project would work REALLY well as a VN IMO, stuff like Higurashi comes to mind. The visual novel format allows for all sorts of experimenting so you can implement puppetry, videos/music, animation and generally rework the format however you see fit under that umbrella.
I think things are still pretty mysterious but maybe I'm retarded
I swear Clown shot himself in the foot by making those two have good chemistry together maybe more then the canon couple i mean we only know Frank and the mail man guy are a thing because he said it but they barely interact (i dont read all of the book so maybe i am wrong)
They are very cute together but given that homophobia/suppression of who you are is an important part of the stories themes, yeah it’s meant to be a cover by the fictional creators of Welcome Home to try to hide the original intention for Frank to be gay
