More of a Anon Babble YouTuber than a Anon Babble YouTuber but I recently came across this guy named Carbon Scoring. He's been collecting toys for a really long time and when he unearths them he'll talk about the history of the comic and the toy.

Our boi zack has lost his marbles. He's got a hate for critical drinker, nerdrotic, and anyone else in that sphere that rivals antisemites and Israel. He's basically promoting "if you don't like it, don't watch it/talk about it" and "only watch things you like", which is weird since he owes his career to mocking America Chavez.
I'm not even saying you can't call out those types of youtubers, when they're wrong, of course, but he's gotten to the point where he defends slop just because drinker said it wasn't his thing. Hell, he'll even rant against them when they like something because they gave to be wrong about everything.
All it tells me that everyone in the comics industry that piled on him years ago were fucking idiots and should've just let him do his thing, because he would've eventually ended up on this trajectory and we'd be spared of maybe half of the drama and nonsense that came about because of their pile-on

To be fair, the Critical Drinker doesn't seem to actually watch the movies that he reviews anymore and just gives a vague summary about things that you could have picked up from the trailer. I started to suspect that he wasn't actually watching the movies anymore after his review of Midsommar where he didn't seem to get why Dani was depressed about her parents being murdered and after he called Christian a thoughtful and supportive boyfriend.
Define "grifting" as the point of having a youtube channel is to make money. You won't find anyone on youtube who isn't in it for the money on some level.

99.9% of movie critic youtube isn't even about listening to a review for a movie you're wondering whether or not you want to watch anymore.
People like Mauler and Critical Drinker largely only got popular because a landscape had been created where the point was to go into a review holding a popular opinion you already agreed with and listening to said critic either glaze it or tear it a new asshole.
For the same reason as comic YouTubers, there is a lot of overlap because the most popular toylines are superhero related.

I watch those two guys in particular all the time and I can say I don't share every opinion with them. They often say things I just flatout go against, (i liked deadpool 3, mauler hates it) but, I still find them informative and entertaining. There's nothing wrong with someone using bad media as a springboard for funny jokes, mst3k.
Yms is another one, but in the opposite direction. I think he's smart and he's made me laugh, but I really don't gel with most his opinions. maybe it's cuz he's a Canadian lefty, but I watched Synecdoche, New York because of him and it was boring as hell.
I don't know about. I deliberately watched Beetlejuice 2 before I watched drinker's review and it lined up with my assessment, almost beat for beat.

I don't think anyone on youtube actually properly reviews shit anymore. Even those Red Letter Media guys pretty much phone in all their episodes for the past several years. We're at a point were near as I can tell, youtubers exist pretty much just to circle jerk or pick fights with, other youtubers. Nobody is bringing attention to things that gone under looked, nobody is creating meaningful conversations about the arts. The hell is even happening.
