Why didn’t they just let Miguel be the protagonist of the second film? Instead of spider-society shit, just have him notice the spot, go after him, and have the other spider-people from the first film follow along.
ATSV
These movies and Spider-verse as a whole exist to devalue Peter and prop up Miles. Miguel got caught in the crossfire as the other most prominent Spider-man, and since he isn't Miles he needed to be vilified.
Of course. Don’t forget the circle jerk around spider-Gwen too
devalue Peter and prop up Miles
This. But the first one was so fucking good. Never watched the second one even tho 2099 is the best Spider-Man.
first one is so good?
Really? Other than the animation I thought it was just ok
I think I like it because it's tied to the Raimi Spiderman universe, has the 2099 cameo, Spider-Ham, Nicolas Cage, the art style is great but now every body is copying that low framerate look, sexy Doc Ock, Kingpin is the main villain. It's not perfect but it's better than most of the slop Disney/DreamWorks/Illumination were shitting out, and the best thing Sony animation put out.
devalue Peter and prop up Miles
You mean every Spider-Man who isn't Miles.
Nic Cage best performance is the one on Ghost Rider.
Because if they used a strongly defined character they can't appeal to self insert spider-sona fags who need something be OMG THAT'S JUST LIKE ME!!
Anyways, Miles got way less popular while Miguel made millions of women wet their panties.
why does every spider person look fantastic but spectacular looks like he came out of a blender fan project
yeh miles, just let your dad die
what the fuck
Man this movie really made me torn on the message.
On one hand, the idea that Miguel found SO MANY Spider-people who could be convinced to let someone die because its a "canon event" is just so against the Great Power Great Responsibility thing they all seem to abide by.
But on the other side I really found Miles' whole "just have two cakes!" and "I'll do my own thang" reasoning to be really fucking shit and made him unlikeable.
Isn't that the MTV Spiderman?
Man I remember how Anon Babble got so angry at Miguel's Spiderverse design being brown until they watched the movie.
Haha
I'm still mad about it and I hate the redesign and I hate his characterisation in the movie
Doesn't have enough diversity points.
Because Miles is the central protagonist that drew people in and his central dilemma is more appealing because you already know the characters and his family
noooooo you don't get it man! the hack writers have to hit back at the fans (and other equally hacky writers) at being too anal about Spiderman having the same origin story, the same dead people they care about and the same shitty scenario that got them there or otherwise it's not spiderman!!! who needs good storytelling when they have petty grievances to air out in a form of a million-dollar production like how all comicbook writers would!! Also, Gwen is their waifu and obviously she needs half the screentime as Miles from the movie since she's clearly relevant to the story more than even Miguel ever was, duh
It's when they name it 'canon event' that I rolled my eyes. It's too blunt so as to be stupid and worse still that they put it in as something Miguel spells out. Even if Miguel and the Spider Society has found a way across the multiverse, it shouldn't BE acknowledged much less woven into the driving force of the story (Miles now wanting to save his dad and now Gwen gets to keep hers too. oh and Pavi or whatever kept the girl's family alive).
It's moronic because they SHOWED what happens when you mess with these events and if Miguel didn't have the resources he built up over time after his own screw up, Pavi's world would've disappeared all the same after Miles' stunt. Extradimensional stuff carries more weight that the writers can't be fucking bothered with.
I'm expecting them to reveal that its the fact that Miguel and Miles, both foreign Spider-Mans from those two universes, stopped the canon event is why the universe collapses, and if the main native Spidey stops it then its fine or some bullshit to justify Miles being right and Miguel wrong.
Because Miles is the central protagonist that drew people in
this
they hated him
Unironically this.
The movies would have been great anthology pieces focusing on a new spiderman each movie. But no we gotta prop up Miles so let's just make every other spiderman act completely out of character for his benefit
They hate every non-Miles Spider in that movie. They just shit on particular ones harder, like Ben Reilly, probably because he was the original unwanted Peter replacement.
I still remember people here being happy because they thought Ben would be done well despite all the shit he's gotten in the comics. Those poor poor fools
He's white
the other most prominent Spider-man
Bro, he's not even the third most. The argument could even be that the five years between ITSV and ATSV, Peni and Spider-ham were more prominent than Miggy had been in years.
I feel like "classically prominent" would be the right term. The top 3 for that being
Spider-Woman
Spider-Man 2099
Scarlet Spider
I find fucking hilarious how they had the balls to show insomniac Peter in the movie, in his sequel suit btw, but not miles. Maybe because it will destroy their retarded narrative of miles being an anomaly or just because they didn’t want any miles to look bad and not make any iteration of him part of the death cult called the spider society. Fucking cowards.
It’s crazy how miles is literally the only one to go against Miguel. And the fact Miguel would hire a guy completely against authority (Hobie) is peak retardation
spider-woman
Jessica drew? Seriously? I’d even put kaine above her
Check AO3
Self insert x Miguel fanfiction has almost 1000 more fics than Gwen x Miles
Miles as a character is tagged in 6000 fics while Miguel has 5700
No other character comes close
Wish we got the design they teased at the end of spidverse 1
Sounds probable. It'd still make Miguel look stupid because why didn't he or anyone else on the dimensional science-ing team figure this out? (They have the resources to stabilize Pavitr's dimension, that shouldn't happen overnight) And it does tie into the extra stupid thing with because seriously WHO WROTE THAT.
Yes. The first movie was a giant success.
Man can you just imagine if Miles had to try and survive at the tail end of the 90s instead of getting his 100th second chance
this
but also it ain't a coincidence that all the "good" spider people ended up being KANGZ as well
guess people were hopeful that the teaser from last movie delivered and focused in Miguel instead of constantly handjobing Miles....again
Because then we got more spider-variabts to entertain us.
Who would you rather have for a chase scene? One spider-vampire, or hundreds of spider-men including alien cat or dinosaur lookin motherfuckers.
Its like asking why have the stampede in Jumanji when you only needed the bats and Van Pelt.
Would've been a totally different movie that way
Yeah maybe it could've been actually good instead of the worst Spider-Man piece of media since Sins Past
