I always struggle to headcanon a character as a certain race unless the creator puts hints towards it, either intentionally or not, like Garnet, Darwin, or Moon Knight until he was officially confirmed Jewish

I think Pomni works better as a very short white chick (which from my experience is what most of the fandom hc's her as). For the rest of the cast here's how I see it:
Zooble is almost always some flavor of brown (usually Mexican)
I've never seen Kinger depicted as anything other than white
Ragatha is usually either white or black
Gangle is the one with the least consensus but I've seen a lot of her being asian, white, and muslim for some reason

I'm actually not too against raceswapping in concept. it's a cool what if kind of thing, and can lead to exploring how different people would go about the same problem.
it's just used by people who don't have a creative bone in there body (at least officially) and decided to go with the most bland character design and personality. sometimes just literally being the same character but black now (or worse)

I'm more against raceswapping when it's done purely out of spite. Like raceswapping cause you have a cool idea is fine, raceswapping cause you think it'd make a character sexier, fine. Raceswapping cause you consider it an improvement purely because it's a raceswap is where I draw the line. Like those people that draw humanized versions of characters and they make each character a different ethnicity.

It's a problem when it's done cynically. When people race swap because "we need to fill out black quota" it's a problem, when it's "I want to draw porn of this character as a black chick" it's much different.
