I totally get why this series is hated but why is it hated as much as it is? I am kinda peeved that Ennis fucked off after vol1, I really wanted to see where that went.
Family values was actually pretty cool. Recently I've just been going through badlands. Its an anthology so I can't stay it's all bad when it's serval different stories and writers. Have I just not hit the "Bad part" yet?
My least favorite is Psychopath btw, I hatred the art style. I know it was trying to make a "People are really no different than the Crossed" BS but I didn't care
The Crossed is a really good concept, The virus I mean.
I do like Crossed but I feel like it's kinda wasted on the series. I would love to see a video game.
Is the movie/adaption rumor real or bullshit?
deserve the hate
not at all. if you want shitty gore its there for you, its just gore porn in another format like exploit movies or saw.
the only people who seem to genuinely hate it are just boring people, i understand hating the idea of it though
Is it really deserving of the hate
No. Normalfags only shit on Crossed because youtube and/or tiktok said it was bad
I haven't yet seen it on YouTube or generally online.
Either the hate drove it to near obscurity or it's just unpopular.
If I do see it online it's treated like the damn plague or the butt of a joke, Sorta like 'The painter'
some of it is
some of it isn't
in all honesty I think the boys was edgier
this, at least crossed didnt try to be anything else other than edgy gore.
The most damning part of my mental state is when i fantasize about this type of thing happening IRL as both revenge against people i hate and because the infected would be more like me then regular normies are
damn! ur like so sick dude! XD
Im not even exaggerating or trying to look cool. Honestly its a little pathetic in my eyes. Sometimes i think I need to be committed
you would cry if someone slapped you around a little.
you would cry if someone slapped you around a little.
I cry all the time regardless if someone slaps me or not honestly. I hate my life
really good concept
it's not. There’s a reason why so many stories in it are just rehashes of one another, that, and the fact that the writers had to basically make the crossed into superhumans at times.
im so sick and twisted i enjoyed steven universe!
I shouldn't have posted ITT, is that what you wanted me to say? Well there i said it alright
The Comics still aren that good desu
The Crossed die like normal people, they get sick, they dehydrate, they freeze.
The human body can do so much, it's literally natures perfect organism. Them being 'Superhuman' is literally just using their body to full potential.
It is a bit unrealistic how fast the virus spreads though.
Blood, semen, sweat, piss, spit. Any type of DNA really.
Personally I would say the virus was/is in everyone but only some extreme stress brings it out. In vol one someone drops nukes and planes crash that's enough stress for anyone to 'Cross'.
Is it really deserving of the hate?
No. The worst issues of Badlands are as bad as some of the stuff that gets praised in here.
What are the "Worst"?
The japan arc, the one that immediately followed the first Badlands arc, everything with Smoky is kind of wack
The human body can do so much, it's literally natures perfect organism. Them being 'Superhuman' is literally just using their body to full potential.
The problem is that Human durability is paradoxical. Yes, Humans can survive a lot of bullshit. But we also can get very unlucky and die to weak bullshit as well. Dehydration is the biggest, and if you don't plan your water or food supply properly you can easily die. 99% of the Crossed are infected suburbianites with no survival skills, they should be dead within days.
This is what you look like btw.
NO IT'S NOT! CROSSED ISN'T A GOOD CONCEPT! IT'S FUCKING STUPID! YOU SHOULDN'T LIKE IT!
Anyone who blames da zoomers!! for shit works getting shat on deserves cancer
The first series is surprisingly restrained. It's what came after it with writers who weren't as skilled as Garth, where the Crossed gained it's reputation as being particularly messed up.
anyone who thinks that my generation is overly-sensitive and retarded and quick to anger NEEDS TO FUCKING DIE
kek. keep seething about good stories because you're too stupid to understand them, lil' timmy.
Moore-sama...i kneel
Them being 'Superhuman' is literally just using their body to full potential.
Crossed is full of writing like that to make it seem realistic, in reality, they'd all die if they constantly pushed their strength to the maximum, their bodies would eventually give out.
The Crossed are shown to be drinking piss, blood from all sources. They eat any and everything.
They do have problems from this, yeah. Like any human would be they simply don't care. They just shrug it off or it's fun to them, I'm pretty sure Ennis said the disease fries the pain/sensory part of your brain.
I remember one badlands issue where the guy made infected meth so he had a bunch of methed up crossed coming after him, thems was superhuman
Every series except +100 is great. +100 is still good, just pretentious
The Crossed is literally the worst "Zombie" scenario ever and it actually is the only one to scare me.
It's infectious through literally every means. If it comes out of a crossed body it's infected. Even blood that's on the ground for a semi long period of time. The Crossed will literally cover bullets and weapons with their blood, spit and semen to infect other people.
Not to mention it's just straight up airborne too.
The Crossed are only slightly more intelligent than run of the mill zombies but that's all they need. If they knew how to do it before crossing they know how to do it after they crossed.
That even means nuclear knowledge. Guns, weapons, hunting, surviving, trapping. The Crossed set up a breeding farm so they could stay high in numbers.
The Crossed is the worst 'Zombie' Scenario ever and there is no doubt about it.
One caveat regular humans have is that the crossed, if left alone too long will start to turn on each other (depends on the writer honestly it goes back and forth). Unless the crossed is in a 'Frenzy' a group bigger than 15 will start to destroy each other unless it's cut down fast.
Boring gore porn. Avatar Press in general is gory schlock, but that's all Crossed has to offer.
Did Crossed really sell that well in the beginning to justify all Avatar press put into crossed?
Tons of spin offs and issues
Or were they just stuck with a contract or something.
it probably sold well in the beginning, but the novelty eventually wore off
Any boomers here that can say how controversial/popular it was when it came out?
The Comics still aren that good desu
first honest thing youve said, but yeah please fuck off "edgy" larp fag
Frankly, Avatar Press is the publisher that showed me that Garth Ennis and Warren Ellis are only "good" when they have an editor keeping them both on a tight leash. Otherwise, they just put out bullshit like Crossed and Doktor Sleepless.
The boys had some batshit moments and then got reigned in and repeat.
I feel like I was reading a bipolar melt down
AKA Garth Ennis writing a cape comic. Pretty sure someone had a gun to his head when he was writing Superman, promising to paint the wall with his hack brains if he started pissing on DC's biggest name.
The comic series of The Boys was basically a traditional superhero comic of the good guy beating up bad guys when you think about it. Garth didn't do anything remarkable about the series. For some reason in the series, they made the scene of a child getting his tongue ripped out very bland.
I thought the idea was cool but execution just seems like something a teenager would draw when they wanna offend someone.
To me, Crossed and The Boys are genuinely everything wrong with comics in the 2000s. Just when Marvel and DC were getting over the edgy shit from the 90's and it looked like we were gonna start writing some intelligent stories (or at least stories that PRETEND to be profound), here comes Garth Ennis saying, "y'know how 'genre+hyperviolence' made me famous? Well that's kind of my THING now. In fact, I'm never NOT going to be doing that."
Crossed and The Boys are the two most "nothing" comics I've ever read. They feel like schoolyard children competing to come up with the edgiest ideas, and Garth was hiding in a bush with a tape recorder. And even then he seems to fall short! It's like, really? Severed horse cock is the best you could come up with? Given the extremely loose framework of his plot construction and dialogue, I can't even bring myself to enjoy those stories out of morbid curiosity. He just comes off like a cynical incurious man-child who's offended at the idea that some people feel sincerity and warmth.
Beyond my personal vendetta, the art in Crossed is light-speed generic. I know its an indie comic through an indie studio, but I've seen solo publishers at local cons doing better work than Jacen Burrows. None of the extended lore by other writers seemed worth my time either, so. Yeah, that series is pretty much a wash for me.
Crossed are shown to be drinking piss, blood from all sources
Which would kill most of them through infection/disease. It's not realistic at all.
Hell, with all the human meat they eat? Chances are they're a mayfly of a threat.
kek. this anon is saying that Civil War, Fear Itself, Age Of Ultron, and everything that came out of the end of the OG Ultimate universe was a-okay.
Crossed and The Boys are genuinely everything wrong with comics in the 2000s
Edgeslopper crying over someone criticizing Crossed
I read the entire series. It was 90% ass the entire time, except for like Smokey storylines. But that's because he was intelligent and had emotions/goals/and wasn't as retarded as the non-infected.
Dude, there comes a point when you pile it on so much that you make a pizza cutter: all edge, zero point.
