Like, honestly, what the fuck was up with them? When they learned that SOME humans were leaning into dark magic, rather than choose to teach them and educate them on alternative means to use magic, they instead launched a fucking crusade to oust every human being from their lands with support from the dragons.
This, of course, leads to even more humans learning and practicing dark magic, and refining the practice over hundreds of thousands of years. So not only did they ensure a constant state of racial tension, they basically gave their short lived lessers all the time and oppurtunity they needed to refine their craft--and further drive the humans contempt for them over generations.

Nah, I was reading reddit threads for the new episodes when the final season dropped and most of the highest rated comments were criticism. You'll get the occasional "just don't watch it bro", but I haven't seen a single site that is entirely positive about its last four seasons.
