WORST DECADE FOR CARTOONS?

the 80's

everything was a dumbshit toy commercial. no actual entertainment for its sake or attempt to elevate the medium. why do you think this decade is looked back on with the most irony than others? because that's how you deal with the disgusting reality that your childhood was an extended toy catalog.

t. 90's kid raised on chad BTAS and Animaniacs. suck it.

The 90's were worse. Everything was not only a toy commercial, but also a vehicle for the worst kind of disgusting racist and sexist "humour" imaginable.

The 70’s was worse: nothing but Scooby-Doo clones and celebrity-based shit.

since when are toys bad?

2020s. There isn't shit on and I've been spending 90 percent of my time on Anon Babble and just peaking here from time to time.
What do you guys even talk about anymore?

Toys are bad. we should sell gender ideology to kids instead.

Wait a minute that's the reboot mumm-ra, not the 80's

Shut up Nerd

nothing can be as bad as the 2010s and 2020s

NOTHING

Absolute NPC take. Of course you like Animaniacs more than 80s action cartoons, and of course you're completely blind to how bad things are today.

The worst decade for cartoons is the one we're in now. Followed by the 10s. Followed by the 00s. Followed by the 70s.

Fuck yeah, I love toys. I want more cool cartoons based on toys.

70s were way fucking worse than the 80s retard.

00s started out strong as fuck and only went to actual shit in the last 3 years.

The 80's were mostly bad sure but the sheer amount of stuff being made and some genuine talents being involved gave us a lot of good stuff as well. The Real Ghostbusters, TMNT, the Transformers movie and select episodes of the other big shows were pretty damned good. I am not sure why people who grew up during that time are so uniquely unable to move on though.
Now the fucking 70's on the other hand is almost nothing but trash.

the disgusting reality that your childhood was an extended toy catalog.

t. 90's kid raised on chad BTAS and Animaniacs

yes because BTAS and Animaniacs weren't made to sell toys. Nope.

The 2010's were undoubtly the worst years for cartoons. It's nothing but bean-mouthed, calarts, gender dysphoria propaganda with the most disgusting character designs imaginable.

in terms of worst
now > 2010s > 70s

The only truly bad decades for animation were the 70s and 2020s. Yes even the 10s had some shit of note, mostly on the adult side of things but still. The fuck do the 2020s have? The fuck did the 70s have outside of fucking Fritz the Cat?

No one who denies the 20s being the dark age is older than 16

The 80s were the second best decade for tv cartoons after the 90s. The 90s are just the 80s but better. At least the first half, the second half was kinda shitty with plummeting budgets and more of a focus on cartoons with child characters.

Make me, Brainlet.

Indie shows that get two or three episodes a year and the occasional movie. Times are really rough.
There is a pretty big difference in that stuff like Transformers and He-Man were made as fluff to hock toys while these were made to profit off of a popular cartoon. Not that there is anything wrong with either model in my opinion.

complaining about cartoons being about selling toys

They're for children. Toys, cartoons, comic books, cereal, video games, Disney, all that shit is for children and it's all tied together. At least, when it's successful. What an odd complaint. It's like complaining about children's cartoons not being entertaining to you anymore now that you're an adult.

There is a pretty big difference in that stuff like

There is no difference at all. Toys, Happy Meal toys, and cereal promotions are *THE* reason any of this shit gets made, including stuff like Batman and Animaniacs. Without those promotions and commercial tie-ins you don't get those cartoons.

What a 1999-ass opinion. Must be nice to have be able to avoid the last 3 decades.

The 90s are overrated. Sure the stuff WB did was stellar, but for every Batman or Superman TAS, you had 20 shows like Double Dragon, or Highlander: The Series, or Problem Child, or Mega Babies, or Darkstalkers, or Sonic Underground, or Hammerman, or CB and Jamal, or CatDog, or ProStars, or Wish Kid, or Super Mario World, or Extreme Dinosaurs, or Yo! Yogi, or Little Shop, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

The 90s had the same good to trash ratio as any other period, what made it stand out is the fact that SO MUCH stuff got made during that period due to the explosion in interest in animation after the release of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And the good stuff was really, really good.

Animaniacs sucks and BTAS is overrated. I don't even like the 80s

Shut up retard

Cope, tranny

greatbaitmate

All art might not be political, but all art is designed to promote something. Toys, ideas, laughter, it's always something.
80s cartoons were at least entertaining. 70s cartoons are genuinely dreadful, the only thing they promote is misery

To paraphase Joe Barbera, he thought they were shit too but networks wanted more of it. He thought it was stupid to turn down people willing to pay for it.

How is this not the worst decade?

no actual entertainment for its sake or attempt to elevate the medium

Worst is an ideological descontructive pamphlet disguised as diversity/empowerment than a toy catalog, don't ya?

Era of Scooby. Even when HB tried to get out ny making their proto-Simpsons/Family Guy. The Taft company dragged them back into the kiddie pool

They are still making modern incarnations for all the bigger 80s cartoons, plus movies. They toys are still on the shelves right now.

The Taft company dragged them back into the kiddie pool

I've never heard anyone talk shit about Taft Broadcasting
Personally I don't see it and have never heard anyone say anything like that but I'm intrigued what you mean by that exactly and where you heard it

This

When HB made Rock Odyssey, Taft didn't like it due its contents (war, ptsd, drugs, death) and had it shelved.

Hola, Paco.

For me it's the Bruce Wayne quick change figure

They had some gems here and there like the MTV Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, X-Men: Evolution, and others though overall it was plagued by subpar shows and good ones either getting cancelled or bogged down by stupid humor that de-elevated the concept.

It's a bit different, though. Some shows held up on their own even if you never saw any toys for them or were aware of their toyline. Others not so much.

its not as bad as the 2010s, be grateful for what you had.

le worse

all those iconic characters remembered by many generations

I bet you think that Sissyven Fagverse is good, retard

Look up cartoons of the 1970s. Anime sucks, Disney is on the skids, and Saturday Morning Cartoons of the era are highly forgettable. 1980s are commercials UNTIL Turtles, which is a toy commercial cartoon but it leads to indie comics getting cartoons that have toys but aren't toy commercials like the Tick. 1990s cartoons are legitimately better, especially on Fox, especially as Nickelodeon got into the originals game in the 90s as well as Cartoon Network did later in the decade. It felt like the people who read all of those great 1986 comics finally got to tell stories that weren't "Really sell the tank."

Then cable cartoon TV killed Saturday morning cartoons and it feels like everything from writing to animation to concepts have peaked. We are past the silver age.

BECAUSE THEY'RE PRODUCTS. These aren't iconic characters, they're toys. The couch has more personality than these characters who just exist to hate a hero.
