The story is that King came up with the rough plot and Didio told him to make Wally the culprit.

First you gotta understand this story got some last minute rewrites apparently.

I like that it got completely janny'd out of existence because it was so abhorrent. The Empty Hand ate his first L that day.

5/10. even though The Flash's superpowers have shown to be influenced from their emotional state and could explain how Wally could be a dangee to himself and others this is more of an example of King needing an impossible murder weapon to explain away the impossible crime.

I liked how they retconned Wally's entirely arbitrary breakdown and attempted coverup to actually be Professor Zoom subconsciously convincing him to do it just for the hell of it

Then they retconned the speed force freaking out as Savitar escaping the speed force, and then retconned that everyone is actually still alive but got sucked into the speedforce

That's how most of these filler events work. The writer has a high concept, the editor tells them which characters are getting the push, then everyone is stuck trying to make it work.
With good editors it generally works out well. With shit editors... well... look at DC comics in the 00s and the 10s.

Flash struggled with the idea of Sanctuary and thought it might be a fake thing to placate him (other heroes going "no bro, we get it, we get it, we've all been there") so to understand whether or not he was alone or other people got it, he attempted to experience everything that every hero who had used the facility had ever gone through in the span of a moment, only to find that watching every traumatic confession a thousand other people had gone through was actually way too much, lost control of the speedforce and killed everyone nearby who had come out to see what was wrong.

He killed himself to punish himself and try to atone for what he had done, he framed the two survivors because after killing himself in the future, he needed time before Batman and the rest of the JL came to arrest him to try and make up for the wrong himself (by killing himself and leaking the Sanctuary situation to Lois). The idea was that he'd loop, kill himself in the future, atone for a few days and then die at his own hands--but instead he was interrupted and convinced that more violence and death wasn't going to solve the problem, so ultimately he was arrested and a cloned body was used to fill the paradoxical missing slot.

It doesn't matter what the actual reason was, it was a blatant attempt to character assassinate Wally, and they retconned it less than a year after the fact by making Reverse Flash the cause of every stupid decision the Flash family has ever made, like the speedforce war.

They should have made the event all about starting the therapy thing, not ending it in a poorly thought out mass shooting parallel. If the event was just "people are getting burnt out from superheroics" it would be great, but an obsessive need for pointless spectacle doomed it.

Now it's a side effect of Savitar fucking with the Speed Force. Iirc, Adam's contrived the situation so that Roy is making a sacrifice, and Wally doesn't really have any hand in it now.

His Batman run was a huge hit...among critics who loved that he was basically sticking it to Batman for being a white rich manchild and Mary Sue-ing Catwoman. This brought in some new readers curious about the hype but all he was doing was writing a Batman book for people who literally hated Batman who were going to leave when he left but not before he salted the earth.

I've had plenty of issues with Bob Harras BUT I give him credit for seeing the damage King was doing and kicking him off the title.

Mann was good at one time but this was around the time he started getting lazy and began tracing 3D models. You can always tell when artists do that because the coloring is always really weird (maybe to try and hide the obvious tracing?) and the facial expressions completely unnatural and wooden.

It gets even better.
King is co-writing the Lanterns show with Damon Lindelof. It's a match made in hell.
