It's been well established that American "adult" animation is even more juvenile than kids shit. The only thing "adult" about it is dick jokes and incessant cussing, nothing groundbreaking on either the thematic or technical sides.

This is simply "old good, new bad". If they failed to make their mark at the time then there is no hope they will be relevant outside of a museum today.
