Was Jessica Jones a character with one or two decent stories in her, or is there still interesting stuff Marvel could do with her?

I don't know how interested marvel is into writing street-level stories anymore. Aren't most stories about big crossovers or world-level problems nowadays? The last time I enjoyed a smaller threat story was back when during Gwenpool's first run.

one or two decent stories

LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
Just say you want a mind control fetish thread, you pussy-footing faggot.
It's the only thing this shit character is good for and it feels patronizing when you're pretending otherwise.

She's a detective with super strength, Luke's wife, and victim of Purple Man. She's got nothing else other than those three things.

All she has going for her is the initial shock value of you being a kid in the 2000s and seeing a Marvel comic where characters swear and have sex. In 2024, you've probably seen so much edgy capeshit, it's not even mildly impressive.
She's not even remotely interesting as a detective, she's probably the most boring marriage Marvel has and Purple Man is a very shit villain so she doesn't even have a good arch-enemy.

you can reduce any character like that

Wolverine

healing factor and claws, cucks Scott, victim of Weapon X

frankly, if you can't, more often than not your character is convoluted
Anyway, any character can work out in hands of a good writer willing to do something interesting with them... And here's the actual problem with Jessica

I appreciate any couple that can stay together for so many years. It's very rare in the superhero world.
No you can expand on a lot of characters and show potential for more stories. Jessica doesn't have that and has never shown the capability for it. That's her only three things.

It's not like it's a compelling relationship (it's really not) In this case it just means the editors don't care enough to pull OMD.

Detectives have ton of potential for stories, it is just Marvel that is beneath even a decent pulp

The marriage being boring but the couple being happy together is the realistic ideal situation. But editors hate stability and happiness which is why they usually get rid of marriages. Jessica and Luke staying married means nobody cares enough to break them apart and I'm willing to bet Bendis at one point said he never wanted it to happen even after he left.

When I say "boring", I don't mean cuckoldry drama-filled crap like modern Spider-Manchild.
What I mean is that they have zero chemistry together. Pretty much next to none. When you look at some of pre-OMD Spider-Man comics or maybe even Fantastic Four, you can easily stumble across something that makes their relationship seem fun and convincing.
Never felt that way about Luke and her. They feel like they're only together because writers want them to be, without putting any genuine effort into why.

Except that those three are GOOD storylines.

My problem is that she's not even a very interesting detective.
One issue of Ellis' Moon Knight was more fun than her entire detective career in either comics or the terrible show.

They're together because Bendis Bendised
He wanted to tie down Luke with his OC yt hoe, and he succeeded because no one gives enough of a fuck about Luke or his love life

Pretty much.
It just always felt to me like a relationship equivalent of Oblivion NPC conversation. It may even be technically functioning at times, but there's never really any life behind it.

You technically COULD do an interesting story with her, but she really doesn't have much to prop a story up. She doesn't have any powers that lend themselves to an interesting storyline. She doesn't have a background thar lends itself to an interesting storyline, and her setting is just kind of generic big city. You could write a decent murder mystery with her but she isn't really known as a great dective. She isn't even a blank slate because she has that whole purple man story going on.

If you want to make a good story with her, take her out of the city and send her on a trip hunting some cryptid. Make her being a city girl with a bit of an additude out of the ordinary in her setting and make her strength tertiary to the plot. Put in some super natural stuff and eventually do a cross over with Alice isn't dead to send all the lesbians into orgasmic spasms.

I think the larger issue is that she's a very 2000s "strip away all the colorful and fun parts of capeshit" mentality. Things you've said about boring powers and generic city sorta apply to many other street-levelers, but they're colorful enough characters to bypass that. I mean, Luke Cage himself is pretty much "punch hard man" (Iron Fist too btw) but Heroes for Hire are cool and colorful enough for it to work. She's just really not.
And I've said it before, I just don't find Purple Man to be a compelling villain so any attempts to make him some kind of arch-nemesis for her just remind me how boring she is..
He's just a total loser with an equally bland design and personality.

Wouldn't that be just Buffy but worse?

I think you could have fun with her as a supporting character in a Spidey in High School story

Just Jessica Jones that one bitch who swears a lot and doesn't fit in with the rest of the kids
And sometimes have Jewel show up in the background failing as a superhero and tripping over Spidey and Sally Avril

And have the Purple Man stuff be a looming threat, you know it'll happen to her eventually and it's treated as tragic in the classical way

If they wanted to make a good story with her they should have killed her off instead of having her marry Luke Cage

its wild to me we had that Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, Spider-Man and Luke Cage in High School but no Jessica Jones/Jewel.

The issue with Purple Man is that he's too much of a joke to make into a genuine threat.

Don't actually have Purple Man show up, just have a bunch of foreshadowing and red flags showing that Jewel's story doesn't end well

what like a teenage Jessica going "man, I sure am glad I'm not a mindfucked sex-slave, and never will be"

Have her complain about mutants
Have her dismiss the threat of telepaths and mind control as a joke
Have her constantly fail as a hero or show up after everything is over so Spidey doesn't even really know she's alive
Use purple shading and overlays as an artistic choice to show her own mental state to foreshadow that something is encroaching on her

Theres a lot of ways to reference it without actually showing it

Jess and Luke should have a Power Family book.

I appreciate any couple that can stay together for so many years. It's very rare in the superhero world

Luke Cage has lost all of his personality and potential since being held back

Her show was EXCELLENT. Coomic was bendislop.

I think they could do more quality stuff with her tv version but I don't think they will.

Her show was EXCELLENT

No, it was utter garbage with no redeeming qualities.

The fact this bitch had her own (admittedly terrible) series only shows how far nepotism gets faggots like Bendis.

Fuck no.

Father : Mayor Luke Cage
Mother: P.I. Jessica Jones-Cage
Adopted Son: Joe, Purple Man’s bastard.
Daughter: Danielle Cage.

Hijinks ensue with this atypical American family.

Quit trying to make this thing work. It wont.

It shall.
Unless Luke is the All New Venom.

One of the few saving graces of that slop cartoon, really.

no, nigga, hahahah what the fuck.

This family dynamic shit is so fucking gay. Do you motherfuckers not have real families?

Luke is stuck being mayor but really just wants to run off and slum it with Danny.
Jess is fighting her demons while trying to be a good mom. She's reading bedtime stories when she wants to be getting hammered while getting hammered.
The Purple Kid keeps accidentally brainwashing the babysitter to get more desert.
Dani finally starts developing a personality.

You don't like the Fantastic Four? You don't like the Incredibles?
Why do you hate traditional family values?

everything needs to be fantastic four or the incredibles

What an admission to make.
