Ben Affleck, Joe Manganiello, Jeremy Irons and J.K. Simmons set to return as Batman, Deathstroke, Alfred Pennyworth and Commissioner Jim Gordon. The Suicide Squad – Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Nightshade, Black Spider, Shrike, Blockbuster and Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) – are deployed to stop meta-human terrorist group Onslaught while being hunted by Deathstroke. Early drafts featured Onslaught’s goal being revive Black Adam, later drafts featured Onslaught’s goal being brainwashing Supergirl. Scrapped in favor of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Misha Green’s BLACK CANARY

Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett) infiltrates an underground martial arts tournament at the behest of Batman, organized by Ra’s Al Ghul to recruit a new member for the League of Assassins, so she can bring them down from the inside. She fights her nemesis Lady Shiva, notorious bruisers Bronze Tiger and Richard Dragon, and Green Arrow, who starts out at odds before becoming her closest ally and love interest. Glen Powell eyed for Green Arrow. Scrapped by James Gunn.

This actually sounds interesting, even if probably too intricate a plot for the caliber of writers DC gets to handle. How smooth was the transition in development between this and the GL show we're getting with Hal and John?
It's probably still happening because WB paid JJ Abrams $250M in advance to develop movies and shows and they obviously don't want to just flush that away. So technically Bad Robot is still developing it, even if it's clearly getting nowhere.

Cavil isn't aged out of the role at all. He's 41. They'll probably cast a 41 year old to play Batman in the Brave and the Bold. They just cast a fucking 59 year old to play green lantern.

Hal won't be the main Green Lantern, John will. Him being older is to show him as an mentor role.
