This is in reference to how Matt was debating if they wanted Marcy to be evil since if you recall there was a character board going over the personalities of the 3 girls and originally Matt was going to make Marcy a literal sociopath. You need to remember Amphibia went thru a lot of different redrafts and those redrafts ended up making the show arguably worse. First off, the Gems didnt give the girls Dragonball Z powers they gave them animal powers which is why in the test pilot, Sasha not only has her gem but her exposure to it was giving her reptile features meaning Sasha was literally destroying her body on a cellular level because her human DNA was being assimilated into human DNA

Now whether or not that would have been a better use of the gems is up for debate because quite frankly all of the problems with this show are how Matt has no idea what the fuck these magic space rocks do. Marcy and Sasha apparently dont need them since they give theirs over to Anne and she easily assimilates their power into her own Gem and adding even more stupidity to this Godimino says "I made them because I was bored. I didnt think Aldrich would use them to take over the world."

Its funny to me that this kind of freak talks a lot about good writing when one of the first lessons in screenwriting you get is to just focus on what matters to the story and not any other miscellaneous stuff that doesn't contribute to the overall storytelling.
Sure, Mufasa can be seen as hypocritical for talking about the circle of life when he and his clan eat their subjects, but the story isn't about the politics of the pride lands and their society; it's just about Simba. This is only a problem that is noticeable in the lives action remakes where they try to tackle this situation. And that is the type of people these freaks reek of, the ones who wanted animated classics to explain every plot point in realistic detail.

It was never gonna be a true dark fantasy vibe under Disney. And quite honestly, those early designs scream of a show that is even MORE episodic and comedic than what we got. You would never see that Sprig or Hop Pop emote to the level they did in the final show, those are designs made to be goofballs and nothing else.
