My theory is that they’re not dedicated to using shit stories, but modern stories (which are unfortunately all shit). No one wants a repeat of the bad publicity that came from the lawsuits filed by the Ditko or Kirby estates. So, Marvel chooses to adapt stories that were created by creators who were locked into very explicit binding contracts stating that they own nothing they created on Marvel’s behalf.

This is why corporations should own everything everywhere forever.

Morlun was fun in his introduction, it’s the Inheritor/Spider-Verse garbage which followed that which made him intolerable. He fit the “it’s not personal, I just need to eat you to survive” archetype that Galactus does so well, but obviously on a more personal level. The whole “you’re the first villain to ever piss me off” rant was complete nonsense though.
