DC’s biggest fumble

Literally they are sitting on Space X-Men/Star Trek and won’t do anything with them. It’s so frustrating!

IMG_8647.png - 339x250, 173.07K

That's lame.

Fuckers keep reinventing the wheel with them is one problem.

We had the original, the reboot, the threeboot, the return of the original but aged up, and then the most recent one where Earth was just fucking demolished because hopeful future what's that?

Star Trek would be star hunters

It’s so frustrating man reading up on them they are so cool

No, Star Hunters is Guardians of the Galaxy.
Star Rovers is their Star Trek (original series).

DC editorial stays making the worst decisions ever.
Imagine fumbling Hickman when he wanted to do both Legion of Super Heroes and the New Gods.
Imagine letting him take those ideas to Marvel.

House of X

Powers of X

G.O.D.S.

Imagine what we could have had instead.

Let's be real: The Legion is Superman's extended cast. Which is fine, just acknowledge them for what they are

Right? What the actual fuck. They are literally a group of superheroes in space. How the hell do the incompetent morons at DC keep fucking this up? It's a goddamn space opera. All you nee to do is pick a few of these young adults out of a hat every issue and have them go to some gimmicky planet and save the day. There's your ongoing. Done. It's not that fucking hard. Why yes, I am very butthurt mad about this. Thanks for fucking asking. Goddamn. Fuck.

Long LIVE the LEGION

Just like the X-Men, they've quite literally NEVER been worth reading.

They just feel too dated, I hate "alien" designs that are all just humans in different colors at best.

It genuinely makes me wonder why the excecs at DC and WB just make the most braindead retarded decisions possible

That's like saying the Titans are Nightwing's extended cast.
Yes, it's true, but they can always be more.

Flash movie flops and is terrible

WB/DC: cancel the flash game

I wouldn't make that an accurate comparison. Like it or not, the Legion of Superheroes is downright tied to the hip with Superman

Visited him in his youth

Creation is a direct result of his actions/career

One of their members is a descendant of Brainiac

Fatal Five have fought Superman a few times

I'm not saying they can't carry a solo book but maybe it would be in everyone's best interest to go back to basics an use the Man of Steel as a jumping off point to reintroduce The Legion to a new generation of readers

Really hope whatever Williamson and Snyder are cooking gives them both good stories and their place back as one of the prominent superhero teams at DC

Or at least more reprints fuck

This. X-Men is way better than Legion.

X-Men has coom. LOSH doesn't have that.

Marvel won’t let him go over to DC

They're incredibly lame. Generic superheroes in a lazy "futuristic" setting.

This. Marvel did the concept better with Guardians of the Galaxy.

There’s another thread like this about a similar topic, teams have never been a DC thing, it’s why they created Doom Patrol and Teen Titans to clap back against X Mens popularity

Doom patrol and X-Men came out at the same time

Yeah it was a real Swamp Thing Man Thing type situation

Doom Patrol

Correction, this was meant to clap back against Fantastic Four originally. New Teen Titans definitely DC's answer to X-Men, despite also having FF influence.

There's a bunch of geriatric crap in cape comics thats serviceable at best but held in high esteem because it was moderately better than other forgotten cape comics at the time.
It's not worth revisiting for anyone under a certain age and doomed to die with it's audience. Don't mourn it's losee or keep trying to jumopstart it's ghost.

This. Let Legion die already; it's boomer shit

Is Legion of Superheroes five year later worth reading? And should I read the Great Darkness saga?

Nope. Don't even try reading DC Finest.

Imagine letting him take those ideas to Marvel.

House of X

Powers of X

G.O.D.S.

Yeah DC really dodged a bullet there

5 years later is a lot better if you know and have affection for the characters.

Great Darkness is as good a spot as any. If you like Silver Age DC their book is one of the best of that era

Original X Men were flops and were cancelled before Claremont came in with a whole new creative overhaul.

Or maybe they just stopped appealing to people.

B-b-but it’s superheroes!

In space!

So is Green Lantern and outside of Johns’ run GL has not been that popular for a supposedly A-list title in the past thirty years.

Imra, my beloved.

kek I remember the LegionWorld forums hating this one, calling her an iron butt skank and using the Proty Garth retcon against her. How was she supposed to know her man was a meat-puppet for his own pet.

So you're saying turn Legion into a horny soap opera with a vague civil rights motif?

No? Plus current X-Men is a trans/gay allegory anyways that’s why krakoa era is a flop

This thread is full of bots or samefags.

To be fair, the quality of those stories make me glad that was fumbled. Fuck Hackman.

Marvel made it work

Dude, the Legion has more to cooom over than the X-Men even has females. Are you fucking blind, or just retarded?

The answer for these Questions bears one name JIM LEE

And the retards shitting on hickman here are didio shills since Hickman and Ewing are bros with Lee and didio's nemesis who is Geoff Johns

Guardians of the Galaxy was a failure until Keith Giffen completely ignored it and made something absolutely disimilar to both the original Guardians and Legion. If you weren't a non-reader, you'd at least have some inkling of this fact.

That's what I meant by made it work

indeed
The costumed got even skimpier than what's in pick related. I'm not complaining, mind you.

legion1_07.jpg - 1024x700, 431.43K

Yes, but it's extremely dense.

They are from the Jetsons' future, thats lame.

That’s what most aliens at DC are though. The Guardians, Starfire, Lobo, Martian Manhunter, etc. all fit that description

Well, he did it to Legion first. L.E.G.I.O.N. '89 was the template that got applied to Guardians. So it already worked at DC before it ever came near Marvel.

chaste

THIS. Say what you will, but Geoff Johns has been the lesser evil at DC. If one didn't know about comics, that statement would sound pretty politcal, eh?

Also at Marvel, Star Trek, Star Wars... almost like it's not really a problem and anon's just a faggot.

The real problem will always be this: the real title is Superboy & the Legion of Super-Heroes. Crisis on Infinite Earths severely fucked that up. Until somebody figures out how to fix it, with an editorial mandate, it's going to continue being a shadow of itself at best.

the legion is for silver agefags and i'm tired of pretending they're not. you can't make it sell when half of them are named lad, boy, lass, girl, and kid.

the real fumble are these motherfuckers. they had something and they threw it all away. you can even have supergirl join in like the first arc and it'd still work

rebels.png - 382x600, 457.59K

you can't make it sell when half of them are named lad, boy, lass, girl, and kid.

Well they tried fixing that in the 90s

Johns fixed the boat, only for didio, lee and nelson send him to the Movie and TV department, where he managed to do and get shit done with the first Aquaman and Shazam, then the trio above gets fucking livid and began intervening thanks to warner listening to them, while they fuck wit hthe comics, aka turning Conner Kent which is Geoff's favorite superboy into a tranny, the man burns all of his favors to save him and DC retaliates by turning Tim and Jon kent into fags, and now Connor hawke.
Johns leaves DC to a better position at Image that is doing great, while DC's mainline is fumbling while Absolute, which is the brainchild of his bro Scott Snyder is doing well, as the Lanterns, Superman, JLA +JSA and Aquaman, 5 ips which he wrote before before.
While all of Lee's butt buddies shilled comics is doing worse and fumbling hard and losing to marvel.

Same situation at marvel too, since the OMD+BND gang is getting fucked by the Ultimate Universe, Thor and Venom editorial while the mainline universe comics are getting fucked and losing sales outside the retarded covers.

Tell me some favorites and if I get the time, I'll doodle one or two..

Johns leaves DC to a better position at Image that is doing great,

This is cope after Ray Fisher ruined him

Are they still? It's clear that Superman doesn't want them. Their origin revolves around Superboy, which hasn't been a thing for over 40 years.

Not really, Image really gave him a better position.
Reminder that Lee bankrupted Image and Kirkman managed to save the boat.
Lee is still livid that Kirkman's projects and TWD saved Image while DC got fucked by himself and not admitting his own fault, just as he did to Image.
He even put an end to Gen 13 and Wildcats at DC out of spite, even OG Caitlin Fairchild is still lost in some dimensional void until someone brings her back to DC.

I thought Fairchild was back on WildCATS but I could be thinking of someone else

There are 2 Fairchilds
The Nu52 one which is a inferior clone just as the shitty and spiteful recreation of his own stuff at Image, and the original that is still imprisoned in a Dimensional void at DC just as Peeg was for a while after World's End which put an end to Wildstorm Universe.
Lee always sucked as a businessman and he is only there at DC thanks to nepotism.

Liefeld and and MacFarlane was right once more about him being a hack.
Surprisingly the Fairchild in DC vs Vampires seems to be the wildstorm original instead of the clone backstory.

OG Caitlin and Gen 13 is still in the 21 and Down universe, saving those kids. Story's still on hold.

At this rate the only way to bring them to DC is by firing lee and claim that he gave the rights to the company.

Ayla
Zoe
Laurel

Didn't he give the rights to them by selling them off in the 90s? Pretty sure they're sole property of DC for over two decades now.

Yes, he sold everything to DC and has no rights over it anymore.
The problem is, when he moved to DC he fucked his own IP out of spite.

They shouldn't be 'brought to DC' - they don't belong there. That's where their story just dies.
We need th OG WildStorm universe back to give these characters any meaning and hope of success.

They tried giving them their own imprint ala Milestone again but then the Warren Wllis thing happened…

See, that wasn't the OG WildStorm universe. That was some whack DEI podpeople shit. Warren should be lobotomized for that.

Who's the sexy guy in the middle?

Rokk Krinn aka Cosmic Boy.
He's even sexier as Time Trapper.

I miss Brainiac 2 so much. He was brought back for No Justice and has barely been used since

It's time to accept that OG WildStorm was a product of the 90s and can never truly be recaptured. It died the moment Lee sold it off and shelved the Gen 13 movie.

I've tried to get into the Legion, I bought the Great Darkness saga but after like ten issues there had just been a few panels hinting at Darkseid but a whole lot of teen melodrama so I stopped reading.

Bedard R.E.B.E.L.S.

No, not this version. This was hacked out and dragged out hollowing of the property.
What you want to indicate towards is L.E.G.I.O.N. '89 - '94, where the real magic happened.

I'll accept that you're gay and useless and ignore your faggot opinion.

basically can never have the because the future has to suck and they can't endlessly crossover. megaevents gutted them, mcu finished them off

He's not wrong. What you really want is the Authority era WildStorm; the OG is more tied to its era and original publisher than Legion of Super Heroes is.

Lyrl's only good arc was the original Peyer R.E.B.E.L.S. '94 - '96.

The marvel version of LOSH is the imperial guard. So no they didn't.

The Authority was born out of the OG WildStorm universe and needs it to survive just as much as Gen 13 and WildC.A.T.s do. So you're both very wrong, actually.

Wildstorm was never good

non-reader opinion

Discarded

needs it to survive just as much as Gen 13 and WildC.A.T.s do.

It really doesn't

Neither of you are reading LOSH if you’re sperging about WS and Lee. Both of you fuck off.

As evidenced where...?
I don't see an Authority series thriving like the Og. I don't see an Authority series at all.

We can do both, and you can still be faggot.

It came out after the literal death of most the original teams. It can be read as the start of a new era for WS under DC.

Talk about Legion then faggot. I don't care about Wildstorm or Lee, make your own thread if you want to talk about that.

It didn't happen under DC, though, and it was still OG WildStorm, non-reader.

You talk about you want, faggot, and ignore what you don't want yo talk about, like an adult. Or you can fuck off.

non-reader doesn't know dates

You fuck off, no one is wants to hear you bitch about how awful WS and Jim Lee is.

we were having a perfectly fine thread

gets derailed with off topic arguments and shitflinging

What the fuck Anon Babble?

We don't declare the contents of our posts here, anon.
The entire first arc of The Authority was published originally by Image.
And the OG WildStorm universe never went anywhere, everything still being published alongside The Authority, which was a part of it.

Notice how it started going to shit when the Geoff Johns shills showed up?

We don't declare the contents of our posts here, anon.

That line doesn't make sense you underage

Then respond to my posts about L.E.G.I.O.N. and R.E.B.E.L.S. or fuck off, faggot.

LEGION and REBELS are shit like most 90s comic retard

Ok, then you can fuck off out of here. Your opinion has already been discarded.

People who read 90s Image Comics are emotionally volatile retards

Colored me shocked

Nah I can stay. You take your shit taste with you.

aggro posting retard

'b-b-but y-you're emotionally v-volatile...'

I said fuck off, retard.

Never though of it like that, you're right. Super Lame.

I for one like LEGION and REBELS.

accuses me of being the person he was arguing with

a-a-aggro posting retard

Following along with the conversation isn't your strong suit isn't it?

OP ruins his own thread by being an aggro douchebag

Sad.

It was a good thread, til then.

I really don't get the concept of Lobo, is he just American toxic male rebel fantasy turned satire?

No, he’s just a 70’s biker stereotype but in space

Why does he look like a kiss member on steroids

He had a few appearances where he was played more straight, then he was bought in JLI by Keith Giffen which had a more humorous tone and they leaned into that, especially ramped up by one of his formative writers being Alan Grant who was also a big Judge Dredd writer. Of course a lot of people enjoyed it non-ironically.

I think they could work if you just went ham on the retro scifi shit

Quality over quantity. None of these Legion girls are a memorable
Have they ever been drawn in a run as well as Jim Lee or Silvestri, or had as iconic art as Bengus in any iteration?
All the major X-men girls have an angle. Storm is the stoic and noble goddess, Jean is the smart and reserved perfect lady, Rogue is the fiery southern belle, Psylocke the mysterious ninja with a serious demeanor due to her complicated history, Jubilee the bubbly positive one, Kitty the mess who takes herself too seriously, Emma the ice queen, and so on. They all look really different too. You can imagine them speaking in different accents and at levels of properness. You can't really do that with the Legion girls.

Genuinely the best attempt at rebooting/modernizing/whatever the LoSH. Got rid of the dorky names and designs, no boring Jetsons setting, more alien-looking aliens and most importantly it's not reliant on a backstory for Superman that most people below the age of 50 agree that he's better without.

It also helps that they're in the present so they can interact with the larger DC world. They're not sanctioned off into an irrelevant ghetto like the LoSH.

lmaooo nobody wants to read about a bunch of pasty ass yt people in the future fr :skull:

I've always liked the idea of The Legion but the setting and execution often leave me cold. I feel like the concept needs a real hook to it because I don't quite get why they are a thing. Like being a Special Forces Team in Star Trek. Why tho? Also they always work some weird sex thing into the popular runs and I'm okay without all that shit. I feel like writers just ape X-Men a bit too much with this team so it never feels like it belongs with DC proper which is why it's often removed from Superman stories too. I don't know. I want to like this team but something is just off with them. So much cool shit here tho.

Legion needs more sex stuff in it. It has no memorable girls

I remember the weird psychic cuckold storyline from the DnA run and Triplicate girl fucking three different dudes at the same time during the Johns run. This shit is like land mines you're just wondering along then "click" random weird sex stuff . If they made it more sexy it'd be Red Hood and the Outlaws level stuff.
