Which one?

4

2

1st one.

1 obviously?

2.

Jessie and Bullseye

Airport scene

Zurg

Al

Woody repair scene

Its such a great continuation to 1 that I have to give it to 2. Obviously the first movie is a big part of why the second movie is so great.

1 has better atmosphere. There's something about that movie.

Second because Jessie

The 2nd one was really annoying with Jessie and the prospector being assholes to Woody. At least with the prospector after a little bit of "I'm a humble man, we need you so we can go to the museum" guilt tripping he turns out evil so it doesn't matter, but Jessie being super manipulative only makes me not care about her sad backstory because by that point she's already gotten on my nerves seeing her combat Woody's goal that the audience is meant to share being constantly treated as the meanest thing in the world.

I don't fucking understand why writers do this. You follow the main character and what matters to them, only to see some plucky cute new character get in the way of that and you're meant to feel bad for them. Wreck it Ralph has Vanellope steal his medal. Scooby Doo Mystery Inc expected you to feel bad for Velma by trying to split up Shaggy and the titular franchise character because "he chose a dog over me :((("

It's braindead writing. I'd put TS2 lower on the list of this stuff but it's still aggravating how Jessie acts. Writers really need to learn hero characters opposing the MC every step of the way makes them fucking unlikeable, I don't care about some sad backstory introduced later that makes them this way that "recontextualizes" all the shithead behavior. Woody knew them for like a couple days, yet they expect him to drop everything.

2 is alongside MI the funniest Pixar film so I'd go for that.

1 is obviously more special. It was Pixar making a movie for the first time (after only making shorts like Red's Dream, Tin Toy and Knick Knack), plus the recently hired Stanton, Docter and Ranft proving what they're made of.

1 takes place in the span of a week. 2 takes place in less than two days and a half.

Nobody gives a shit, Sharkfag

I had it on VHS, so 2. I did like 1's end sequence though.

Kill yourself

How does anyone seriously like 2 more? To me, it's not even a question, 1 is a better film.

How does anyone have a different opinion than me?

So for you, why is 1 such an obviously better film?

Woody is less of a dick and we don’t spend most of the film in a kid’s creepy room.

sharkfag made the thread btw

No one's gonna admit it, but it's Toy Story That Time Forgot

Also the animation had an impressive upgrade.

Woody being a dick is left over from the many earlier drafts.
Early Woody is essentially a tyrant and and Slinky is his literal bootlicker.

Toning down Woody actually resulted in Potato Head and Ham coming across as bigger assholes for throwing him out the window and refusing to help him later.

Woody is at his funniest in TS1

I enjoyed the conflict at the heart of Toy Story 1 more than Toy Story 2 but, looking back, I think Toy Story 2 may have had more individual parts that I preferred. Namely the villain, the cast of characters, the emotional resonance, etc.

Jessie's backstory having that excessive emotional song felt more generic hollywood award bait than the first movie's emotional beats. Go Sailing No More was simple.

that one

THE GAY BARA ONE

same

I think they're reasonably close in writing quality, but it's impossible to separate the original Toy Story from the technological achievements it represents. The most well known CG animated works before Toy Story was stuff like Reboot, which was hard carried by the creativity of the writers to get people to look past how fuckin weird it looked.

John Carter 2012 is underrated

No, it really really isn't.

BUT I DON'T WANNA USE MY HEAD

Toy Story 3's the best

Try harder with your bait

Toy Story 3's The BEST!

That’s nothing compared to all the emotionally manipulative crap in the third film.

Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am

Bigger and stronger too

But none of them will ever love you the way I do

It's me and you boy

Bonnie doesn't deserve Woody
