If American Dad is finally coming back to Fox, does this mean Terry will return?
If American Dad is finally coming back to Fox, does this mean Terry will return?
Why did he leave in the first place?
From a production standpoint, not narrative.
One of the co-creators left due to creative differences. If he's coming back, so will Terry.
I'm guessing that this will mean American Dad will go back to its "political" roots. If there's one thing I noticed about the TBS seasons, it's that they were far more apolitical than the FOX seasons.
Mike Barker. He and TBS didn't get along.
Are you kidding? The Fox seasons stopped being political after, like, season 2. 3, tops.
The whole "All in the Family for the 9/11 era" concept was dropped pretty early on even before the TBS switch. Ironically Family Guy was more political than AD at one point.
Ironically Family Guy was more political than AD at one point.
Ok yeah, I totally believe you. I'm not shocked that Brian was used as a political soapbox more often than Stan.
Seth didn't leave American Dad due to creative differences.
Anon…
Perhaps that wasn't the wording I was looking for. I should've said that AD has been a lot more R&M-like since its move to TBS. I'm 100% sure Dr. Kalgary was created because of R&M alone, along with giving Dr. Weitzman more screentime.
I want to ask a genuine question, does he only do voices on the show now like he does with FG?
Ehh, do I REALLY want to see more of the "Tank Bates is a homosexual" poster..?
Not entirely possible, the Bush era ended long before the show got transferred to TBS. So there was no point of using political jokes anymore.
I get the feeling he's even LESS involved with modern American Dad than with modern Family Guy.
Perhaps this is a monkey's paw waiting to happen, but we're in a similar era right now.
more like it will be closer to where it was around season 10 when he left the show
That's what I was thinking. Hopefully that means Billy gets little-to-no screentime
American Dad was already pretty apolitical before the move to TBS.
Yeah, I must've been thinking of EARLY AD.
Anyone else see the tbs finale. It felt like it was made after they knew they were going back to Fox.
I did, and it was an alright episode. It was certainly better than Guardian with its TikTok memes.
Huh?
The real question is what happens to Rogu. I hope they keep him.
It's the episode before the finale, more specifically the one where Stan tries to use an AI in order to complete Steve's homework.
Oh I missed that one I think. But the finale if it wasn't written before they found out about the move back to Fox was a hell of a coincidence
Go to the big city and be successful but ultimately have to leave
Go back home and see it with fresh eyes and think it's not so bad anymore
TBS owns the rights to Rogu.
He will be missed...
But hey, that also means no more Billy.
I should actually watch that episode again, because I've only seen it once. I'm glad you got something thought provoking out of it.
cute tie
Are we gonna see him during the 311 tour?
Thanks for the info
Billy? Was that the spindly, sickly little kid?
Yep, that's him.
He was forced to quit because of contractual bullshit with Fox.
Terry's voice actor was one of the original AD writers and got moved over to write Family Guy when Seth ordered American Dad and Family Guy switch writers to try and fix Family Guy when the show started getting a lot of shit for being garbage/people started claiming American Dad was better than Family Guy. But while he no longer was a writer on American Dad, he still did Terry's voice.
When American Dad got moved to TBS, the guy got fucked over as Fox has strict rules not allowing talent to work on shows for other networks. So the guy was barred from continuing voicing Terry.
As such, they had to write Terry out by having him basically abandon Greg and their kid to follow the band 311 around on tour full time.
I wonder how different it'll be. I know there was a small shift when TBS took over that slowly became its own thing so I wonder how different Fox will make it.
TBS forced them to stop making Holocaust jokes with Klaus. I wonder...
American Dad is finally coming back to Fox
huh??
TBS cancelled it, Fox swooped in and brought it back.
Billy was in the fox seasons they just used him more in tbs like tuttle
Billy was in the fox seasons they just used him more in tbs like tuttle
I think he debuted on the first TBS season
TBS forced them to stop making Holocaust jokes with Klaus
"You came back from Jewish camp?" was on TBS
Huh so it was.
There was also that jingle Klaus wrote for Pizza Overlord, lmao.
TANK BATES IS A HOMOSEXUAL
There he is kek.
What happened to mindquad?
