This honestly. I just never liked how almost every dumb dad character is always a fat retard or just a retard. Having a laid back, non-fat, intelligent dad character would be nice for once. As for mom character, be nice if most weren't such nags.

I like the posturing. It sells the anxiety of trying to hold a family together while trying to not crack. Though I think the difference between the anxiety here and what she does have somewhat in the final show is this looks like the anxiety will be breaking down while the anxiety final Nicole feels just makes her want to beat people up.
That said it does feel like it would detract from Nicole, especially S1 Nicole, if you were to add this aspect to her, because she's still a great character in that season either way. Maybe if it wasn't entirely visible to her family it could work but we don't live in that universe, so I'm not dwelling on it too much.
