Spider-Man

We should do something about this, we should stop watching that happen, we need to make a change, we need to find a new way to make Spider-Man editorial team understand since boycotting ASM comics doesn’t work, we need to pressure them into doing it, whatever the cost. I don’t care if we need to make manifestations, threats or whatever else, we need to act and just stop that bullshit. We need to show them that we won’t just let them do shit with Spider-Man, we need to do everything in our power to retcon one more day and to make everyone in Spider-Man editorial team either accept our request or leave (even better get fired). We need to stop being still, we need to do something. To end this rebellion message, FUCK ONE MORE DAY, ZEB WELL, DAN SLOTT, NICK LOWE AND BREVOORT

Note: this is not a joke, I am actually very fucking serious about this and I want to see that happen whatever the cost

This is here for everyone to plan what to do and how to do it, to coordinate this and finally make that One More Day will be retcon, Paul will die, everything will be back to pre one more day story (with Peter and MJ married) and finally keep everything street level (and a bonus would be to retcon every post one more day story like superior spider-man the spider-verse comics Silk and Shay all of it, a fresh start that will hopefully have no more nonsense)

(Please whoever archive threads, don’t archive this one)

boycotting

Anon, I have terrible news for you:
even Mackie's run, the unanimously panned ASM run, the 'retconned-by-omission-and-derision' run, was a consistent seller, often in the top 10. At the very most it didn't fall off the top 30 and that was rare occurence.
ASM sells because it's Spider-Man.
Marvel doesn't care. They care so little, they're happy to do a victory lap around a literal deal with the fucking devil as long as they got their single Spider-Man.

I know and that make me almost crash out everytime I think of ASM comics

The worst thing is that I have the full idea of a run that could fix everything but even if I became a comic book writer for ASM, the editorial team would stop me

I'm making the assumption that you're not happy with ASM. If you're not happy with that then just pick up an alternative.

Ultimate Spider-Man is a good one, pick up some trades or collection of past ASM issues.

But what you're proposing is just plain fucking stupid. Seriously sounds like you're to wrapped up and unable to differentiate between fantasy and reality. Anon, touch some grass and realize that you shouldn't invest your whole life and identity around some fictional character.

Ultimate Spider-Man is actually very good and I read it, it’s just that the more I try to forget ASM to concentrate into ultimate, it just creep back into my mind (but ultimate Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man comic book yet)

And it is also because I despise the editorial team (especially Nick Lowe) for just being assholes about it

Just like they did with Nick Spencer. He was aiming to try and undo OMD and Sins Past. Editorial slammed the brakes on Nick's attempts to undo OMD but gave a pass on retconning Sins Past.

As I said last thread, you'd need to nudge editorial and their writers into objectively ruining Peter's character in a way they can't come back from or downplay

I geniuenly hate the editorial team, they act as if they are the writers while they also are disrespectful towards fans

I am still waiting for the reveal that Paul is Mephisto fucking with Peter, I mean he did sell his Marriage to him.
Miles, Peter and Doc Ock owe him.

That would be interesting (and better than the shit we have)

How? Do you work in the comic industry? Have you worked any job that involves editorial oversight?

This seems like the proverbial straw man argument.

"Wah, the editors are making decisions I don't like and by default they must be mean assholes."

Just because you don't like what's being done with your favorite book and the folks in charge aren't indicating that things won't change doesn't mean they're doing intentionally doing it to spite you.

The decision to keep Spider-Man/Peter Parker single and MJ separated is not just made solely by Tom Brevoort. It's made by folks above him that have their fingers in the pie.

Have you ever looked at one of Nick Lowe’s Twitter post?

They should do a run with Peter as Ghost Rider

I kind of expect this reveal to happen some point in the run.

Since MJ was the one that convinced Peter to accept the deal with Mephisto.

J. Michael Straczynski had Mephisto taunt Peter and MJ with the image of the daughter they now wiped from existence with them giving up the marriage. Spencer ran with this indicating that Mephisto wanted the marriage undone because their daughter stopped his plans to take over the world it the far future. So to prevent this from happening he prevents her from existing. What better way to say "fuck you" to an enemy by saying you fucked their mom and knocked her up in the process.

It's kind of late for that now, so it's likely they'll possibly reveal Mephisto is the new Venom

I have but at least I have the wits and sanity to realize that when he trolls fans not to take it personally.

Dude has to tow the company line like everyone else in that organization.

Thought the new Venom was Carol or MJ.

"Wah, the editors are making decisions I don't like and by default they must be mean assholes."

No, faggots like joe quesada and nick lowe are assholes and losers because of their words and actions over a span of more than a decade. Literal spite-driven decision making shouldn't be rewarded, hating then is completely natural

Ok but I honestly think that I would be able to move on and sleep better if he stopped doing that because that’s just adding fuel to the fire (ok, I admit that I am not any better but I say that if he truly want the fan to move on, he should stop his trolling and actually stop talking about it but he keep going) and that’s not mentioning how spider-man is less and less a street level hero, not mentioning the fact that he talk about relatibility while making Peter even less relatable with each issue that release (but that’s a writer problem, I admit that)

Let's do a mental exercise.

Do you truly believe in your heart of hearts that Nick Lowe and Tom Brevoort truly, without a doubt, have the final ultimate say on what goes in Amazing Spider-Man.

That if the folks above tell them undo OMD and get Peter and MJ married. That if Lowe and Bevoort were to say "no" the folks in charge will back off and say "Yeah, okay."

If you truly do believe that then holy shit are you really out of touch with reality. Recommend stepping outside and maybe hangout with some real folks, just a suggestion.

Even Quesada had to get the decision to undo the marriage approved by some guy in a suit or a bunch of guys in a suits. Spider-Man is a lucrative source of income for Marvel/Disney, that's somebody's bread and butter that Lowe and Bevoort is playing with, and ain't nothing being done without someone's say so.

Could Quesada and Lowe handled it better, maybe, but it worked. It got people interested, keeps the book going, people engaged aka they were doing their jobs.

Trust me as soon as ASM sales dip, stops making money, and the numbers slag. I'll bet that OMD will be undone so fast you're head will spin.

Ok but how do we make sell dips, because we know that spider-man always sell. Like, I do not buy any ASM comics at all now but There is still so much that continue by the need to have them all (or for some reason like it). But it’s also a problem with the writer making the stories less and less street level and more not Spider-Man so as much as I say shit on the editorial team, the writers also have a problem

Well, organizing a boycott on Anon Babble is probably not the best way to go about it.

Try twitter or X or whatever it's called now but again I doubt it's really not going work as social media is more a reactionary force then it is a revolutionary force.

The only way social media would work is if Marvel/Disney does something catastrophically stupid like a video surfaces of Lowe and Brevoort wearing Klan uniforms screaming at the writers demanding that Spider-Man beat the ever loving shit out of some LGBT black-trans lesbian woman while screaming slurs.

You can visit your local comic shop and talk folks out of buying Spider-Man but that most likely get you banned from the store as your local comic shop owner needs those books to sale and won't take kindly to folks telling their customers not to buy comicbooks.

The problem is that Disney is technically IP company and they license things out such and Spider-Man is a licensed property they can use to generate profit. Comic sales slump then license him out to a video game publisher and make a game. That don't work then license him out to a toy company to generate sales. That don't work then license him out to make a cartoon. Get the picture.

The only way something like this would work is to turn Spider-Man into a toxic property where no one wants to touch him. In doing so Disney will be forced to do a rebranding and hopefully along the way they reinstate the marriage between Peter and MJ.

That would be the only way to realistically go about it, but again, we need to have the ressources needed for that which we probably don’t have

The only way something like this would work is to turn Spider-Man into a toxic property where no one wants to touch him

I already came to this conclusion
Hell during the Spider-Goblin arc some posters were actually claiming Peter would commit infanticide, but that never happened

This honestly make me sad, knowing what happened to Spider-Man comics while I grew up on Spider-Man comics, it just feel like a part of my childhood got ripped away from me and became what Spider-Man comics are now (at least there is ultimate Spider-Man that is a masterpiece (how is it that good Spider-Man comics are always made by a different editorial team than ASM))

The only thing I can think of is to get some religious nutjobs/emotionally-unbalanced parenting groups involved.

Let them know that Spider-Man, a superhero their kids like to read about and watch on TV, made a literal deal with the devil, violating the sanctity of marriage, and the folks in charge (Disney and Marvel) are perfectly okay with this.

The downside is that your are getting in bed with religious nutjobs/emotionally-unbalanced parenting groups and those are folks you don't want to align with.

That would work but it’s not good people to assiociate with so I’m not sure, but it would definitely work

They've already kowtowed to those types for years, you'd need something more drastic, like Peter doing something completely unforgivable to reinstate the deal

No one's going to get upset over something that happened nearly 20 years ago. Most people don't care.

But we could make some people care by mentioning how it is still used a lot to this day that they won’t undo it (and maybe twist the sense of some things said to convince them) that could probably work

Unfortunately, at some point you have to realize that you are no longer the target audience of the thing you liked as a kid and that the company that deals with that IP is no longer going to cater to you.

It's called moving on. Nostalgia can be a very harmful toxic drug.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to take a look and see what's going on with the IP you liked and maybe even keep up with it but to have the mindset that the company has to still cater to you is just delusional.

If we are desperate enough to think about getting help from religious extremist group, that mean that the ASM editorial team have a serious problem

I know but it still hurt

There is also the fact that Nick Lowe said that he wanted for everyone to be the target audience, which in the long run, make no one the target audience

I know that alone I can’t do all of that but I hope that somewhere here there is the one that can do it and I hope that it will be what we need. I know that I won’t do it on my own but I want to give the ideas for the person that will do it to make it work

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

Nothing wrong with thinking fondly of the memories. It's just bad when you insist on being stuck that way and unable to move on.

That's called generalizing. Again you seem to making assumptions based on statements.

Bring it on.

You don't seem to understand how Anon Babble works. There's no one person that decides what thread gets archived.

A thread can get archived.

If it reaches its a post limit. Once that limit is hit then the thread will eventually slip down and eventually go into archive.

Inactivity, again causing the post to slip further down and go into archive status.

The only thing you can do is just post again when the thread gets archived.

That would honestly take too long because it is basically 12 issues but the general is a one more day retcon, with Paul as the villain helped by mysterio that will betray him and at the end of the first 12 issues Peter and MJ would be back to being married (there Will be a lot of build up) and then I’d keep everything strictly street level but during the 12 first issues I would: fix ben reileigh, build back up to Peter and MJ’s relationship, make that Paul made one more day with mysterio and it was fake (Peter would in fact be revealed to remember the marriage and being trying to get it back for a long time and trying to find who was behind OMD), retcon the pheromones thing with Silk (in fact I would maybe even kill off Silk), retcon the revival of gwen stacy and making a story darker than most by starting with the death of aunth may (after the first 12 issues it will no longer be dark)

Thanks, I didn’t know that and this is the second time I make this thread but I didn’t understand how it worked so thanks

What's this weird obsession with having Spider-Man "street-level". Honestly, be flexible. Spider-Man can go to outer space, team up with the Avengers, become an Avenger, deal with global threats, take on mystic threats, galactic threats, and go on grand adventures. Insisting that Spider-Man only be a "street-level" really limits story telling options and is a bit asinine to me.

See while he CAN do that stuff it shouldn't also be the norm. That kind of shit stands out better when he's normally chasing after hoods and guys in powered suits.

A good editorial and writing staff can make any Spider-Man story stick out.

To insist or demand that a majority of Spider-Man tales be "street-level" is just limiting and really serves no benefit. At least to me anyway.
