I liked it but It's really overrated, it did not need to have like 8 seasons for like the same 3 punchlines. Also like other cartoons getting milked, they value you that over giving their other shows a spotlight. I was a baman piderman/dickfigures type of guy so I was kinda bitter how they managed to get more support while they just sort of get left in the dust.

I thought it was pretty cool as a kid. I liked the first couple of vids anyway.

It went to shit when it got a real budget. They immediately made the episodes longer and emphasized the characters suffering with more detailed, less cartoony injuries, and the 'silly popcorn gore' spirit of the OG shorts was diluted and lost completely. See that one ep where Sniffles gets mind controlled and tortured to death by the ants and the showrunners admitting 'yeah we overdid that a bit'.

The OG series had some gruesome moments too, but they were offset by the general campy vibe and the characters doing wacky shit like getting their limbs stretched out 5 feet and such.

The character of Cub also felt particularly low-brow in the context of the show. Even they must've realized how cheap and needlessly cruel it was having a literal baby get mauled to bits on the reg, as the longer the show went on with special episodes and collabs and stuff, the less often he appeared on screen. It's to the point he's stopped dying altogether all the promo material he appears in nowadays.

It's a show that's understandably lost to time. There's very little reason to go back to it.

Pop and Cub are the subversion of "overprotective father and curious child" that you see in shows where the baby would get itself into increasingly dangerous situations and the father would try everything in his power to save them while suffering all the injuries and consequences.
I think it's quite clever, and they had some really good plots involving them
