The movies are shit

the movies are shit

the comics are shit

the sequel series is shit

the netflix adaptation is shit

Was ATLA lightining in a bottle? Why is everything else regarding this franchise shit except for the original cartoon?

Yes, I thought we were clear on this.

I just think it’s weird how the writers became obsessed with LGBT shit and started shoving it into every aspect of the series

Despite everything, I can pretty easily visualize an alternate universe in which Avatar became a successful franchise. The world laid out in ATLA was extremely rich, and the lore lends itself well to telling lots of different stories. They just fumbled the bag at every possibly turn, starting with hiring a guy known primarily for medium-budget thrillers to direct their epic Wuxia fantasy series.

There was also this assumption that Mike DiMartino and Brian Konietzko were these visionary auteurs who basically made ATLA what it was, when they were really just heading up a wider, roundly talented team.

Is it weird? That was in vogue at the time, and it's still something Hollywood types are trying to force.

Korra killed it with the setting change, that’s really all it took.

There was also this assumption that Mike DiMartino and Brian Konietzko were these visionary auteurs who basically made ATLA what it was, when they were really just heading up a wider, roundly talented team.

This is the only truth, it's like asking why none of Bruce Timm's projects post DCAU have never measured up

The right team of writers, voice talent, artists and composers were able to meet at the perfect time and you can look at the projects that spawned from that group to see exactly who was good at what

the original cartoon was shit too

The original is shit too

Korra's 3rd season clears the entirety of ATLA. I feel like

Kys retarded samefag

Agreed (barring the completely retarded take on anarchism) it was great. I always liked the fight between Korra’s dad and Zaheer. It was probably the first fight in the series where a water bender was trying to kill their opponent rather than just incapacitate them.

It's weird you think that actually happened.

It did happen.

korra becomes a dyke with someone she barely knew

comics go out of their way to discuss how all the major bad guys were homophobic and also how every society was at least tolerant of gay shit prior to Sozin

novels retcon Kyoshi and Yanchen as these superhuman dykes who could do no wrong

Yeah no they definitely have an agenda or at least a very deep seated fetish.

The original cartoon itself is shit. Its success is trapped in a bubble. Notice how people started to hate Last Airbender because the third season invalidated the ENTIRE series thus far. Why did Aang need to travel the world to help end the World War when all he needed to do was cry until the random Godzilla sized Lion Turtle showed up and said:

"Here you go you whiny runt now shut the hell up with your whining!"

That horrible third season utterly ruined the whole series in retrospect and by now no one really respects Last Airbender either as a series. And no masturbating doesn't count as being a fan, your dick is worthless.

and also how every society was at least tolerant of gay shit prior to Sozin

These idiot liberals are in for a rude awakening whenever Western Civilization collapses because the first thing to go during a collapse is virtue signaling shit like Feminism and tolerance of degenerate lifestyles like lesbian shit. Won't live to see it but things like people being beaten up til they're bloody or killed for being homosexuals or worse shitty trannies will be making a return. They will be lucky if they end up locked up in a sanitarium.

The only good thing about Avatar as a brand is that its a black hole for Nickelodeon. Hope it keeps losing money for Nickelodeon until they die.

Can you stop being a retarded faggot for five minutes

Your definition of "every aspect of the series" is as small as your mind. Tiny.

korra becomes a dyke with someone she barely knew

She knew Asami for four years, fought, laughed, and drank beside her. She knew her longer than Mako before going on on their first date to the spirit world.

If you must be a hater, try to be a decent one at least.

That was a good run up, did you manage to rub one out to little fantasy tirade?

The fact that you're jerking it to this sort of thing is very weird bro.

Hope it keeps losing money

Gonna need a source on that one, skippy.

I hate that the showrunners enabled you weird crackshipping yuricucks (solely to fuck with Nickelodeon by the way since they slashed their budget after S3.)

Yanchen

superhuman dykes who could do no wrong

Umm, she very much is not.
If anything, rather than going the expected ace route with her, Yee seemed to have actually made her straight
And she fucks up quite a bit in her books

Why is everything else regarding this franchise shit except for the original cartoon?

Because you need both Bryke and Aaeron Ehazs to rein-in each other's respective autism. As soon as they all split up, whatever their next project was destined to flop

Korra was pulled from broadcasting because the numbers were shit and shoved onto the nick streaming website before it was even done airing

The netflix series was not received well because it was garbo, the actors had no direction, and the show took too many liberties which did not improve the story and in fact made it worse

Seven Havens does not look or sound good

Every project they've made has been a failure, no one credible talks about anything but AtLA fondly

and the three of them also needed o'bryan, welch, hamilton etc. to balance them out. That whole team was a jigsaw puzzle

Wait was that before or after season 3? Because that was the only good one

during iirc

Makes sense. What kids wants to watch a show about young adults fighting caricatures of political ideologies while also dealing with adult relationship drama due to the slutty brown feMC?

What are your hopes for the next series? What are your fears?

Untitled-1.png - 221x330, 116.88K

I just hope that she isn’t gay and that Korra isn’t redeemed

Asami consolidating even more power through her patented Blackbeard off-screen victory powers

sato.jpg - 1273x761, 102.55K

I hope they get a deaf mute blind quadrapelgic named Matt to voice EVERY character!

I want her to go into the avatar state and bitch slap Korra for being a self absorbed cunt

That paramount cancels it

I really hate how homophobic the avatar fandom has become

They need a hard reboot where everything except ATLA is no longer canon.

Or an even harder reboot (my idea) where they make it Avatar but it’s a western setting, like medieval Europe. Where Avatar is Eastern, make it western.

I want to see “Not Britain” fighting “Not France/Germany” over “Not Christianity” using elements while everyone wears full plate armour (metal bending is not yet discovered)

Am I homophobic if I celebrated Anon Babble's victory in 2014 while fully acknowledging that Korrasami lacks substance? Because Anon Babble winning was REALLY fucking funny at the time

Yes you are. They literally consulted with female bisexuals to understand how their sexual awakening occurred. It’s probably the most realistic bi relationship in animation

They need a hard reboot where everything except ATLA is no longer canon.

Yes

Or an even harder reboot (my idea) where they make it Avatar but it’s a western setting

NO
I dont trust this IP in a western setting not ramping up the gay like Dragon prince did

Bisexuals awaken by homewrecking each other, multiple times?

They literally consulted with female bisexuals to understand how their sexual awakening occurred

Kek.... ohh wait your serious? let me laugh harder HAHAHAHA

No they didn't.

Would be cool if they reverted to a medieval level of tech after Korra shat the bed. That being said anything European or western should be expunged from the setting.

Yes. Have you ever met a bisexual woman? They can be quite dangerous, especially in their 20s and early 30s

It’s funny how the surprise lesbian ending ruined Korra’s entire series. Even woketards whine about it (though they are usually complaining about how it “came out of nowhere” and “needed development.”)

Oh contraire it's remembered fondly and used as a shield. No one talks about the stupid fucking robot, for example

Why do male writers love to make their female characters (especially the strong ones) “bisexual”? It’s like guys can’t imagine a strong and capable women who also likes to get penetrated by a man. I don’t get it

Fits nicely with heroic proactive archetypes tbqh. Not too deep, the RPG hero gets all the bitches

But like why can’t she just get a hot guy and settle down?

A lot of male writers are self-inserters.
And yes, that includes projecting their sexuality onto a female character.

Well then the story ends, unless the writer pivots to comfy SoL

I'll resist the urge to call you a turbo faggot - every writer "self inserts" and "projects their [whatever]" into their work. That's called "writing." Don't know why you're lasering in on men - have you READ the top selling women written, women consumed novels? Full of the gays(but not like ugly fat ones ew)

A lot of women also write from men's perspectives while still making the men straight.
Men these days tend to self-insert far more, so they don't want to write a straight woman since it makes them feel like a faggot, since the female character is not a character, but an extension of them and their behaviours and habits, including their sexuality.

I’m pretty sure most of those novels are borderline pornographic “romance” “novels” about a plain girl getting railed by a 7 foot tall handsome guy who speaks only in growls. Women under 40 only read porn these days

I dunno champ, getting the feeling in another thread you'd be calling men who write straight women trans-in-denial - and there's plenty of men who do write straight women, it's actually the rule rather than the exception.

I honestly think the writers of avatar are somewhat misogynistic when it comes to straight women. Just look at what they did to Toph.

getting the feeling in another thread you'd be calling men who write straight women trans-in-denial

That would be your own retardation more than anything else.

and there's plenty of men who do write straight women

Not as main characters, no.
As a side character or a love interest, sure, but very few men these days write from the perspective of a straight female, since, again, it makes them feel like a faggot.

this person that has two lines of dialogue in the series with this other character was totally in love with this other person!

I'm gay as hell, and I still know this is bullshit. You fell for bryke's pathetic attempt to save their garbage series from criticism. Bryke is literally george lucas. The first series they had a bunch of talented writers and showrunners to reign them in, and when they were given free reign from that they made a shitshow.

Female attraction to men is easy to understand though. Just read blackpill shit and you’ll get it. It starts with height then face and then finally “personality” (body and then one’s ability to have a conversation that doesn’t bore the woman.) Stephen King is great at writing women for this reason. Every female character he writes that isn’t a mother or a crone is hyper sexual and very much aware of it. That is the female experience.

Even calling them george lucas is genorous. George at least came up with most of the aspects of the main characters we like from star wars. Zuko, Iroh, Azula and Toph would not exist how we know them to be if not for the writing team

Dude you're so full of shit.

Female attraction to men is easy to understand though. Just read blackpill shit and you’ll get it.

That doesn't really have much to do with my post.
The point is that a lot of male writers make their female main characters lesbians because writing from the perspective of a straight woman makes them feel like a faggot.
It's that simple.
It's also part of why you see so many lesbians in modern media, many men under the age of 55 are quite insecure in their sexuality and would have the same outlook you have ("I'm not writing a straight woman, she'd just lust after Chad all day, and since I'm not Chad I'd hate that, I'm not writing something I hate, I want a female main character but she has to be a lesbian so she can't be tainted by Chad.")

I think you're projecting.

It’s funny how the woman is either a cheating whore or a regular whore in most of those western novels

That and this anon is clearly retarded

Hopes:
-I want to see milf korra do a cool self sacrifice in a flashback that sends the world back to the stone age, but saving the planet from getting completely wiped out.
-I want the main plot to be trying to solve the mystery of what the fuck even happened, because I have 0 interest in the characters and setting they've shown so far, apart from it getting away from diesel-punk and back to basics.
-I want to see the spirit portals closed because opening them was a gigantic mistake. Spiritniggers literally did not do anything to help and don't even pay rent, and the spirit vines that resulted from opening the portals enabled a tyrant to create dumb superweapons.
-I want to see the avatar cycle restored in some capacity.
-A retvrn to eastern mysticism and philosophy and a departure from the black & white good vs evil western mysticism that retroactively ruined the setting.
-Actual distinctive martial arts for the different bending schools instead of everyone punching different projectiles.

Fears:
-The twins aspect is going to double down on the Light & Dark Avatar bullshit.
-There's still going to be futuristic technology; I think there was a leak that said the airbender guy is going to have some kind of holographic glasses, or arrow on his head instead of a tattoo or something. Worst case there are smartphone equivalents.
-None of what I want to see happens.
-They double down on current day identity politics allegories.
-The main character has a pajeeta accent.
-We get 0 flashbacks or talking to past avatar lives, even if it's just Korra. Bigger fear is that we only get one at the very end, and that it's a one-time thing. Biggest fear is that they don't have any past life communication anymore whatsoever and instead double down on that tie-in book thing Korra wrote to the next avatar.
I may have disliked almost all of TLoK, but she's grown on me.

I expect nothing, but I imagine I will still be disappointed.

muh past

The whole point of Korra is that we don’t need to be shackled to tradition and in fact it’s best if we just forget about it entirely

The whole of korra was largely made shit because of that 'point'

Fuck Off heathen

All I’m saying is that you’re going to be disappointed if you expect anything else then a rehash of Korra

comics go out of their way to discuss how all the major bad guys were homophobic and also how every society was at least tolerant of gay shit prior to Sozin

its really funny when considering that in the original series Fire Nation society was objectively the most progressive when it came to gender
Earth Kingdom (minus Kyoshi Island) didn't have any women in power or as soldiers, Air Nomads segregated by gender, and I don't think I need to explain the Northern Water Tribe - like there is no fucking way the Water tribes tolerated any gay people.

That’s not an insecure outlook it’s the truth. The problem is that it isn’t particularly interesting to read about since most men and women already know how female sexuality works implicitly.

The air nomad culture of raising boys and girls separately (away from their parents) definitely resulted in a shitton of molestation and rape. No wonder Aang ran off

the original series Fire Nation society was objectively the most progressive when it came to gender

Could you give some examples? I can recall the female prison guard(s), and I suppose you could make the argument for the Azula trio, despite them being on retainer for the princess.

The only way it works is if you have Bryke, Ehraz, Ehraz's wife, and Filoni all working together to balance each other out. None of them can do shit on their own.

Off the top of my head, co-ed schools with a female instructor, Azula's mentors who aren't even firebenders, Azula being given the title Fire Lord by Ozai in the finale

No wonder it was atrocious, a good majority of female bisexuals say the dumbest shit possible because they're only bi-curious or incredibly insecure about the fact that they've never hooked up with a girl before so they try to over-intellectualize everything and whine about "how hard" it is to flirt with girls.

There are three types of bisexual women: the ones who eat pussy regularly, the ones who've always knew they liked girls, and the ones who decided they were Bi when they were 17 and never followed up on it and only the last one goes out of their way to tell people about it and insert themselves into the middle of every discussion.

A trio of 14 year old girls being the fiercest warriors in an empire and commanding a legion of tens of thousands of soldiers on an intercontinental siege isn't enough for you?

I think I could easily believe the Fire Nation would be indifferent to homosexuality. Like if you're a noble, as long as you continue the bloodline, then I think people, especially your family, wouldn't care what you do on your off time. It would also help explain the loveless marriage between Ozai and Ursa, because there might have been precedent for previous emperors and empresses taking on a lover outside of marriage and the marriage itself being more like a duty.

imdb.com/title/tt0417299/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cst_sm

ehasz, welch, o bryan and hamilton are the core group needed. Filoni was only a part of season 1 (but having him back as the showrunner in place of bryke would do wonders for the action alone), Bryke should only be credited as creators and/or do visuals only at this point, keep them the fuck away from the writing. Tim hendrick should be dropped, keep joaquim dos santos, giancarlo should be kept only for visuals like bryke. May chan and James eagen could be cut, pick up Katie matilla as a staff writer (she wrote tales of ba sing se). There, all the import pieces from the og writing team with the fat trimmed and certains pieces moved around. So long as Aaron and his Ex wife Welch can keep it cordial, this would be the play

I said

I suppose you could make the argument for the Azula trio, despite them being on retainer for the princess.

One of them being the princess

The quintessential “elemental powers” fighting example series, codified the words X-bending for modern use

Never fully allowed to expand into a full franchise with games and shit

Being an ATLA fan sucks.

Was ATLA lightining in a bottle?

Let’s be honest, ATLA was always just a kids cartoon that got a pass for being better than the usual slop in certain parts. I tried rewatching it a while ago and it immediately hits that it was made for kids, I couldn’t get past it

there's technically a korra game where you fight some villain out of a different anime that was actually surprisingly good mechanically, but otherwise I feel you
tbf s1 is kinda rough until you get to The Storm
