ITT characters that are either forgotten or just never really caught on. First, why didn't Darkhawk really take off? Not even the bottom of the barrel scraping MCU has dug him up. Last I saw of him was that controversial anniversary issue.....where they decided to kill off the old Darkhawk to introduce a new one only to not do anything with him

Darkhawk.jpg - 600x930, 161.4K

He's an Iron Man-Wolverine that flies and has a Peter Parker-esque secret identity. Seems like a no brainer

You forgot the obvious cosmic bit like Nova/Captain Marvel. Perhaps that's the problem

Dark Cock

He was another attempt at a Spider-Man type of character. Lower middle class loser from Queens who's life sucks lucks up and gets superpowers and fumbles around with it until he learns responsibility.

For some reason the character really rubbed some writers the wrong way just for existing.

A few of them were constantly making fun of how stupid of a concept was that some teen turns into a robot from space at least ten years after it was cancelled.

When I look back at how marvel used to dump characters who didn't track and think about now...

He was doing well until Marvel's crash in the mid 90s. And then he was shafted due to bankruptsy like a lot of other early 90s characters since they wanted to focus on the bigger names and more easily selling books for a while. By the time Marvel was back on their feet the character had been cancelled with no appearances for years and was a footnote.

He was pretty good in War of Kings. I liked how the origin was remade and he fit well into the cosmic side of things. But again, Marvel decided to drop that whole genre of late 00s cosmic stuff and focus on Earth events and he was sidelined yet again.

The 2022 book was a fucking trainwreck and was total shit. It also 100% ignored the cliffhanger from the previous 2019 appearance in Guardians.

Basically any Marvel or DC character that debuted in 1993 other than Bane and Tommy from Hitman.

Marvel just sort of does this.

Each decade they invent a group of

New generation heroes!

Only to stop caring and drop them by the end of the decade. Or kill them off and forget the6y ever existed.

Ghost Rider, Nova, Captain Marvel etc were the 70s ones.
Power Pack, Dazzler, New Mutants were the 80s ones
Darkhawk, Sleep Walker, Thunderstrike were the 90s ones.

It also 100% ignored the cliffhanger from the previous 2019 appearance in Guardians.

Nova having an evil brother who is dressed up like an evil Darkhawk but wearing Nega Bands sounds like a wacky fun thing to use. Too bad no one left at Marvel remembers he exists.

Having Kyle Higgins write it was a mistake. I've never much cared for the guy's writing, like at all. And it was clear that he didn't have much interest in the book

It's been a while since I've read Darkhawk, but I really enjoyed what I read of it as well as the mystery

remember RAVAGE 2099?

The whole 2099 universe (minus Spider-Man and Doom) is full of forgotten characters.

Lmao remember Nomad?

Which one?

I remember nomad having an aids baby he adopted. he rode a bike and was like the punisher but a lot more guilt-ridden and annoying.

posting FoolKiller for this thread

It was an annoying mopey story about a high school student getting cancer. And then yeah there was something about a robot from space, but basketball star has cancer!!!

Wow, no one really gives a fuck about Sleepwalker. Whatever happened with this guy? Most notable thing about his run was 8-Ball

Remember when they revealed that a bunch of his early history was just hallucinations caused by the armor fucking with his brain while it tried to gel with him properly?

Kid Thunderstrike and his valkyrie sidekick/mentor.

Man I still gotta read that run, but I'm actually Darkhawk is forgotten by now. Did they address the whole Fraternity of Raptors thing and Darkhawk being public Shi'Ar enemy #1?

Fuck brubaker

I remember most of these characters except for the Chip Hazard looking guy on the bottom left. Who was he?
and wtf kind of gun cuts people in half like that? the corpse landing in the dumpster was funny, though

I remember most of these characters except for the Chip Hazard looking guy on the bottom left. Who was he?

Public Enemy. Do you remember Mad Stan from Batman Beyond? That''s who he is, except he guns down civilians instead of blowing up libraries.

I have a whole pitch trying to cover as many forgotten 1990s-2010s Marvel vigilantes as I can lmao

Based!

with that said, I think I'm probably the biggest New Warriors fan who isn't a 90s kid

we have sin city at home

What were the rest?

Bring back 2099

Shit it up with a bunch of lazy <blank> 2099 OCs

Why did they just let Orlando do whatever he wanted with that?

nta but I guess Runaways, Anya Corazon, and the Young Avengers were the 2000s ones
The Avengers Academy kids then later on Kamala Khan and the Champions were the 2010s ones (which bled over into the 2020s for a bit)
And now we have the likes of Spider-Boy and those new champions or whatever
My 2000s X-Men knowledge isn't so hot so insert whatever relevant mutie you can think of into those periods too

2000s

Arana. Gravity. Too many X-Men to name- the ones from New Mutants 2003 and Academy X. The Runaways. The Young Avengers. Everyone from the Initiative, Cloud 9 was the most successful. And a bunch of even less relevant guys.

2010s

Spider-Gwen. Silk. Power Man II. Nova II. The Avengers Academy kids. Wasp II. Ironheart. Gwenpool. Ms. Marvel. Moon Girl. Brawn(Cho is a 2000s debut but only became a superhero in the 2010s). The rest of the Champions. Pei, who was supposed to be the new Iron Fist. The new Agents of Atlas, most prominently Aero and Wave. And a bunch of even less relevant guys.

Also, they forgot New Warriors, Gen-X, Slingers, and another Spider-Woman in the 90s, and Cloak and Dagger for the 80s.

2020s: Spider-Boy. I guess those multiverse Spider-people. New Champions. and a new crop of teen X-Men.

Because Marvel hasn't cared about 2099 since 1996.

same for the Slingers come to think of it

Man, quesada had the weirdest hateboner for them.

They didn't care.

Anya Corazon

Is that the Spider-Girl who got fridged in Grim Hunt?

where does reality puncher america fit in this?

I dunno if Agent Venom and Mania would count.

AAV.png - 651x1000, 898.25K

Young Avengers.
Mattie was the one killed in Grim Hunt. I think I'm one of maybe 3 people who likes her. I can say the same about a lot of these characters.

Do they still remember Rescue?

Is that the Spider-Girl who got fridged in Grim Hunt?

No that was Mattie Franklin who was going by Spider-Woman for a bit.
If anything Grim Hunt was good for Anya since she got to steal Julia's costume (who had now been cucked into being the Spider-Event exposition machine), and she got to definitively take Mayday's name as Spider-Girl since her book had just been cancelled for the last time

Is Julia the hot blonde from the 80s with the black and white costume? I liked her.

I just realized that she went from a strawberry blonde to a straight up ginger ever since she got a red costume. But yeah, that's her.

If anything Grim Hunt was good for Anya

No. It. Was. Not.
- loses her unique powers (she was pretty much powerless the whole time)
- her dad got fridged by Red Hulk
- her enemies pretty much her entire reason for being became Spiderverse fodder
Oh and lets not forget they chose her run to introduce Chat from Marvel Adventures into 616

Anya and Julia both suck

Fuck you Julia was great in West Coast Avengers

He had a resurgence during Annihilation and then everyone forgot about that after

Fingeroth probably has more talent in his little finger than any of those people

That was War of Kings

Not really no. They dropped the actual Fraternity of Raptors and that last bit of War of Kings where they accidentally blow a hole into the cancerverse and Talon convinced two Shi'Ar imperial guardsmen to become Raptors too thing was never mentioned again.

The 2019 Guardians of the Galaxy book had a group of Shi'Ar cultists pretend to be raptors and they dressed up like them but they were easily killed mooks that the Guardians shot through. They did capture Nova;s younger brother, brainwashed him and made him into their leader. He stole the Nega Bands from Mar'Vel's coffin and opened up a portal to Null space where a few actual Raptors killed the fakes. Weird shit happened and Robbie stole Chris's amulet and turned himself into a bird god with it and the Nega Bands, he was defeated and flew off with the bands. That was the last of Robbie or Chris Powell. Back in early 2020.

I loved 90s New Warriors, hated how they became some joke of Marvel and constantly made fun of.

...considering 3 of them became Avengers and Nova became one of the biggest champions of space.

I like Turbo

NW had a perfect balance of radioactive superpowered people, mutants, atlanteans, and normal guys with skills too.
