Ok well than to answer that question because the show is divided, there's the original concept for the show and what it became. Some people prefer the original adventure style of the show and hate what it turned into while other hate the early seasons and consider it an embarrassment. Now with a show this divided in its fandom you can see why people wouldn't want to get into it. Alternatively some people just hate the art style and or writing of the show usually to diaolog like this TLDR

Well at the time it was basically those two, and I preferred the later for its more....authentic and unironic, approach? Adventure Time annoyed me because the artstyle seemed more tailor made for like college age hipsters who were into that crayon drawing art, lolrandum quirkiness, etc, that one annoying "art girl" who wore slip on grandma shoes everyday and a sweatervest or that one guy too old to be listening to emo still and wearing Yoshi hoodies but still was, it just annoyed me because that archetype of person annoyed me
