A couple of episodes have been posted from S2, all them in chinese though

Save them just to have these in hand when they get eventually taken down.

Too soon for having another Bubblegem thread, but i guess is for the new season's hype which is broadcasting now. But still keep it at line since we might be of an annoyance for other anons and get exiled to /trash or idk.
hopefully we get the better quality korean ones and soon or this will be dead in the water, I'd like to draw as I watch.
I know, it's just that we actually have episodes for S2 so I wanted to post em
But still keep it at line since we might be of an annoyance for other anons and get exiled to /trash or idk.
eh I wouldn't worry about it half of Anon Babble is just the same 15 threads
This isn't Anon Babble
Based on these first couple, S2 seems pretty good. My least favorite so far though is probably Ep2, it's not bad but it definitely feels very toy-commercial like with the new powers for Purple and the house and everything. There's also the fact the in ep 3, somehow Purple got all those students out of the gym in literally a few seconds by carrying each into a portal? Other than that it's kino
Torrents?
Neat, thanks. Looks like they're all hardsubtitled (at least episode 1 is, haven't watched episode 2) so I guess we could screencap every line and run them all thru Google Translate if desired.
I could still get the concept of episode 1, even if I don't quite understand what Grey is doing there yet.
So season two really has premiered already? Nice. Though I guess it's going to take a while before we get full subs or an English dub. Still, definitely good news to see the new season is here.
Elements that were made obviously for toy purpouses can work and feel organic in a story, tho from what you have said, it looks like these were introduced directly in the show, athought I haven't seen the episode yet.
The powerup i can understand, in a second season about superpowered character, with stronger villains comes with more fancy powers, is the rule, but for the house aka. The Heroes' Operation Base, i'd keep it for a couple of more episodes to introduce it properly and feel organic in the story like, a reason why the characters needs that, but i guess kids can't stand waiting for more time nowadays.
I just finished watching episode 2, and it feels pretty forced. As in, they finish fighting the daily badguy, and they are just teleported to this house in the middle of nowhere. At least it does explain why there's this major golden door theme in all the trailers. It would also explain why Leo is hanging out with them as mermaids a lot more; he likely just chills in the magic playset house rather than visiting the mermaid kingdoms.
I don't really see a point. I would prefer to see everybody visit each others' kingdoms as opposed to just having a magic house teleporter. But I guess the toy department got some control once the show started getting popular. Playsets the shape of the compacts probably sell better than brushable dolls in most cases.
I don't really see a point. I would prefer to see everybody visit each others' kingdoms as opposed to just having a magic house teleporter.
This basically, it just feels kind of limiting, and the house itself doesn't even look that interesting. I guess it's too early to tell, but personally I feel like it's pointless
Haven't seen it yet since I'm waiting for subs or a dub but I can't say I'm too surprised they may start working in toy stuff now that the show did well enough to warrant a second season. Sort of reminds me of Miraculous and how it randomly threw in those pointless element fusions that the characters each used maybe twice before never using again.
I hope these stuff aren't signs that this show might go for worse and start going low in popularity. It has some promising elements that can work well but if these things like that ruins it... well, i guess it's finale will be sooner than later.
Also
I have something to say for that house thing, but its late now so i'll say it for tomorrow.
The toy stuff was inevitable and was pretty apparent even back in S1, I'm just worried that this season is going to be too focused on the power ups and the house and other stuff to sell toys. Even in ep 3, which I liked, I felt like the character interactions were really lacking (I know there aren't any subs but you can still tell) hope the future episodes are better in that regard, though I really enjoyed the fight scenes
Is this like true and the rainbow kingdom
If not
What are shows like that?
It's also weird how Grey's presence is never acknowledged, or at least not in a direct way. When the girls (and the audience) see him for the first time with Leo, Purple and the other girls don't even say anything to him (though maybe they talked about him) it's just weird
From what I remember of True, there's not much similar between True and Bubblegem outside both being colorful kids cartoons. True was something about identifying with people and building relations based on feelings, from what I remember of the first episode. Bubblegem is a magical girl concept where they're fighting villains so solve the problem of the day.
Still fun to watch but I'd not call them similar outside having the same demographic.
Grey's presence is never acknowledged
I'd assume he comes up later and they're just putting him in the show early to establish that he's around, kind of like how Indigo was in much earlier episodes before she had a spoken line. I guess Grey being Leo's friend is a good reason for him to be around, although it's still strange that he's in school when obviously so much older than everybody else (including all the other students).
ep 3 is on the channel as well
Nice.

Looks like sort of a repeat or callback to season 1, when Green and Purple were learning to get along. The biggest difference is that the characters still feel overly defensive about Purple since she died last season so I wonder if that'll stay a theme with everyone else, or if there will be different conflicts later. Still, nice to see they didn't forget the Purple/Green relationship once Indigo showed up.
So what’s the whole thing with the friendship journal?
The episodes have hardsubs so it's just a matter of copy-pasting them into Google Translate if you want to get a full translation for the episodes. It looks like it's tied to Purple's new transformation device, probably the same theme as S1 with "learn to get along and mature" but the gimmick is getting a new powerup, rather than collecting Bubblegem shards.
I’m ashamed to admit that, as a Chinese American I can barely understand what they’re saying.
Stop shilling this crap here
No
Omg is that Starlight?
It’s better than most modern Anon Babble
I'd assume he comes up later and they're just putting him in the show early to establish that he's around, kind of like how Indigo was in much earlier episodes before she had a spoken line
With indigo she basically never really interacted with anyone (yeh she worked with Leo in the play but they didn’t really talk or anything). Here Grey is making conversation with Leo all the time, and even gets in the way of the relationship between Purp and Leo, which they just don’t say anything about. It’s not terrible but it’s weird
There’s also a strong emphasis on purple learing to be a better princess which is cute

I mean this in the least sexual way possible: little girls are the best.
at these point, these characters are very regonizable to me on how simple yet effective their designs are, holy fuck
We're not gonna get dubs/subs for a good while, aren't we?
also eps got taken down, anyone have a mirror?
Ugh... I hope she gets out of there soon. I haven't used the bathroom all day!
Why do you guys like the show?
I can't speak for anyone else, I just enjoy cute magical girl shows, even if they're not super amazing. I fully admit this isn't isn't something standout, and I am easy to please.
Me and a friend watched it super late and it turned into 3am schizo shitposting. We had fun. Also I just like all the girls, they each have a fun little personality quirk I enjoy.
eps got taken down
Wait, really? These weren't officially unloaded on YouTube?
Is the entire season 1 been dub in English yet? Also would your kidselves even had a chance with them?
Yeah the full first season has been dubbed for a while now it seems. Not sure how long it took from initial Korean release and English dub though. Could be a good indicator of how long it may take for the second season to get it's dub.
Are you still here?
These weren't officially unloaded on YouTube?
No, they were on some random fanchannel. They just released S2, and aren't going to just put it up on Youtube immediately. It probably took them half a year to start putting S1 up, and even then, it was weeks or a month between episode releases.
Honestly I have no idea, it's kinda concerning how much this show lives in my head
Any panties? Also what was that other 3d korean show with the girl with the big tits? you see it every so often
Are you still here?
I am yea. Got nothing better to do with my evening
litterbox won't take an upload
Okay, fine. We'll do it this way.

I'm taking it down tonight, ~12 hours, if not sooner. The Youtube videos were taken down in about one day, so I'm not going to mess around.
pass: bubblies
oh shit thanks bro, you're awesome
I have no idea what they're saying, but I can probably figure out the gist of things, cheers
It's entertaining and has appealing designs. I like the girls little antics and their interactions between them. All the girls are likeable and the english dub is charming. Simple yet fun show.
Thanks for saving them anon. I'll back these up myself when I'm off the clock too just in case.
cute girls and cool fight scenes
based
pretty much the same, something about it just scratches an itch I have with cute girl stuff and I love a lot of the dumb character interactions and the VA stuff. All the designs are super cute as well, it's just really comfy
your kidselves even had a chance with them?
Honestly I think I could only get yellow or orange
Green would hate how dumb I was
Red would only want a chad
Blue is too sporty
Purple and Indigo are together
I used to autistically rewatch eps from S1 a few months ago until I basically had them memorized
Ok, I finally decided to join this thread.
What is this series about and where can I watch it?
What is this series about
Mermaid princesses are magical girls and need to fight monsters to recover the macguffins and beat the badguy.
where can I watch it?

S2 just came out so you're not finding it anywhere officially, outside televised services. You can grab the first three episodes of S2 (in chinese only) here if you're curious. Someone had uploaded them to Youtube yesterday and they've already been taken down.
Ok this show has inspired me to do a little proyect about little magical girls with a similar premise but different elements to not make it a blalant copy.
It would have the monster of the week thing and lesson of the week too but more character driven elements and more sentient antagonist, as well as a different setting, but despite i have to make it different, i would like to have it similar vibes to the base inspiration so it feels like a sort of an homage and not a copy.
Could you give me some ideas with the later please? Thank you.
Did you make this doodle Ker?
ok, thaks
You haven't said anything, so it's hard to make much of a comment. There's an entire genre of magical girl shows in anime and even a few in cartoons, from Lolirock to W.I.T.C.H to even H2O: Just Add Water (for a live action TV series) so you have a lot of inspiration to draw from. You'll need something more specific than "It's like Bubblegem but with some different elements" since that's pretty vague.
more character driven elements and more sentient antagonist
To be fair, it seems like season 2 is going more in that direction already
It's something recently that i came up with recently, of course it won't be too much detalied.
And yes, I'd have to also draw additional inspiration from other shows. Doremi is one but those that you mentioned would be good. Tho i'd still like to have the feeling of the base inspiration but with more charm like, complex characters and stories.
Eh, it's more like, your typical Super Sentai Villain group with it's followers as MotW
yeh
If you ever make something of this, I'd be interested in seeing. I made my own crappy setting for a magical girl campaign I ran that was just the Imperium from Dune, but with magical girls. (sorta) I should try and rerun it. I grew really attached to the npcs I made of it and got art of the fuckers.
Well then I don't know what you mean by 'more sentient'
I'm guessing that by "more sentient," Anon means the random daily monsters. And as another anon said, we're getting a consistent group of monster-of-the-week who talk and keep coming back with Bubblegem S2, so check that out.
Alright, fair enough.
I do like the main cast being color themed. Not necessarily named Red, Orange, Yellow, etc. but having a singular color to distinguish them has a nice aesthetic. Figure out how many characters you want, since 7 is honestly a big crowd.
Are you planning on the mermaid theme as well? Because there's a lot of different versions you could use instead. I would assume that mermaids would be underwater more (compared to what Bubblegem S1 had) so you could just have the villains always screwing around in the water and the heroes need to go underwater to fight them, rather than just time stopping everything.
It might be best to theme the enemies together. Bubblegem probably had to keep things simple so that the audience would follow what the animals are, but you could go more complex. You could make an octopus villain and have all their minions exclusively be various octopus, squid, cuttlefish, and so on. There's tons of varieties in nature. This largely depends on how long you plan on running things, since you could easily have one octopus villain with similar minions, one shark villain with sharks/manta rays, an eel villain with various types of eels, a crab villain with crabs and shrimp and lobster, and so on.
Now this is high quality art, good shit Ker
My bad, i was refering to that but i expressed my idea very vague
Purple is so cool bros.
I think it won't be mermaid themed, i might think about that because, i need to figure out how to make the magical girl lolis i want to make look regonizable and memorable like in Bubblegem.
As for the setting, it would be on an island world with fantasy elements, so the girls might look very beach themed.
As for the villains, they might get inspiration on some mythical monsters with sea animals in the middle.
