Oh, you liked that character that I created? Well, FUCK YOU!

Oh, you liked that character that I created? Well, FUCK YOU!

They are literally the same fucking guy.

Create satire

People don't understand it and enjoy it in an unironic, ignorant way

Get mad

Seems pretty understandable to me

It's narcissism, nothing more.

Doesn't apply to Moore.

Well if you are gonna call all originality narcissism

The small ectasy of creation

No, I'm gonna call externalizing your own failures narcissism. If the audience reacts in a way you didn't plan and don't like, it's not because they did something wrong, it's because you did. Own your mistakes as a storyteller.

Or better yet, lose the arrogance and just be happy the audience enjoyed it.

you’re wrong

I never really got if Moore was your regular run of the mill asshole, or if decades of comic fans and comic shit assaulting with fanboy crap and endless questions eventually broke him.

Two things can be true

It’s time to fucking let it go. Get a grip you guys

You're incorrect.

You don’t even understand his complaint, you hyperbolic fuck. And what’s the problem with these little fights between thrill-seeking authors and thrill-seeking readers anyways? So you have little disagreements while enjoying people rip eachother apart while spouting political extremism, so what? You really looking for level-headedness here? Quit being such a sensitive bitch and getting offended by fucking comic book artists

Aso it’s not anyone else’s fault you’re not cool enough to play with communists

No, I'm right. It's been said millions of times: Moore has no problem with people liking Rorschach, he's merely cringing at the self-inserting fanboys. And he hates DC, so he will not promote their comics, including the ones he wrote.

I'm literally your fucking operator.

Created Rorschach because he was a Ditko fanboy

Thinks that Rorschach is the nearest thing to a hero in Watchmen

Go back to Twitter and your Youtube shorts you moron

"I wanted to ... make [Rorschach] as like, this is what Batman would be in the real world'. But I have forgotten that actually to a lot of comic fans, 'smelling,"not having a girlfriend', these are actually kind of heroic! So Rorschach became the most popular character in Watchmen. I made him to be a bad example. But I have people come up to me in the street and saying: 'I AM Rorschach. That is MY story. And I'd be thinking: Yeah, great. Could you just, like, keep away from me, never come anywhere near me again as long as I live?"

LMAO. Moore making fanboys seethe.
Nothing wrong with liking Rorschach, but if you personally identify with the character...yeah, you got some fucking problems.

Americans are too dumb to understand a British comic book

This is the quote that drives people insane and it’s not even political, he’s just calling Rorschach fans stinky and weird. Fucking owned

yeah, you got some fucking problems.

No shit, he is a victim of child abuse. Jeez, do you guys even have any idea of what you are talking about or are just here to make feeble attempts at ragebaiting?

No one who is capable of extracting all supposed depth and nuance from their comic by melting down and whining about chauvinistic nerds 20 years later ever had any good intentions. He’s a retarded, abusive normalfag acidhead like every other person Anon Babble talks about. You have to remember that the overwhelming majority of the world thinks we belong dead in a ditch with a straightjacket on.

Pretty much, if you self insert or aspire as someone who you shouldn't. You deserve to be not only belittled, and embarrassed.

It's not even merely identifying with the character. The example is a guy going "LITERALLY ME".
Moore knows the character inside and out, went to a bad place to get all his spiel about the human vermin and dead dogs (on top of the Son of Sam material). Hell, some of Rorschach's philosophy is Moore's own (the part about the "rudderless world" is something Moore has expressed belief in). He's a essentially a dark, extremist, right-leaning version of himself. Moore was abused as a kid and grew up having shit jobs just like Walter did.
All wrong. You could see the trajectory of his bitterness over the years. He started super excited about working at DC, and about Watchmen, but by the 2000s he was pretty much over it.

too dumb to understand

nah Moore's thoughts and opinions are just dumb

So Rorschach:

smells like shit

is a squatter

hates women. Like really fucking hates women

has sticky hands and steals from everyone he meets in the book

has a black and white view of the world

You don't see how Moore might raise his eyebrow when people come up to him and claim that the character is a reflection of themselves?

I wondered the same. Sort l=of like how anyone who has ever acted in a Star Trek episode will forever be hounded by psychos with no sense of reality constantly calling them by their character name asking them about Commander Data all the time. Comic writers likely get this shit too, and the more popular the writer, the more insane shit that appears on their doorstep or in a Starbucks when they leave their homes.

Moore even got psycho shit from the director of the Watchmen tv show a couple years ago too. Mailed him a letter of autistic ramblings in the format of Dr Manhattan's self narration.

Not the point. Please, refer to the post two replies above you. Read it to yourself aloud several times if there's something you still don't understand.

Who?

Joker director.

What causes people like OP to fixate on repeating the same thread over and over again? Easy (you)s?

Dude you’re talking about one fucking quote where Moore said he didn’t want people who didn’t care about bathing to be near him. How are stupidly are you for assuming this means the artist doesn’t understand his own work? ‘It proves he never had good intentions’, youre out of your mind man

It is the point, it’s literally what Moore meant in the quote that’s been triggering you so much

You shouldn’t want to envy a victim of child abuse. Obviously Rorschach has some amount of heroism about him, but Moore is pointing out Rorschach is a ruined person and you shouldn’t want to be that

Making a pisspoor attempt at making comics le deep ain't gonna make your daddy respect you. Lol

Rorschach

He's cool in most of his scenes

overpower everyone despite being a manlet

Smart enough to figure out the plan of the smartest man in the world

Moore still plays by the pulpy/comic book rules for everyone. Although they are more “realistic”, the rule of cool is more important to him.

Fans of Rorschach don't envy him, they respect him.

Watchmen is great, but it's so stupid that he hates adult fans for reading it when he... literally wrote it for adults???

He hates that adult fans behave like kids about it.

the actual quote was "adults that read comics are stupid" or something like that. there was no nuance.

“I said round about 2011 that I thought that it had serious and worrying implications for the future if millions of adults were queueing up to see ‘Batman’ movies,” Moore said. “Because that kind of infantilization – that urge towards simpler times, simpler realities – that can very often be a precursor to fascism.”

“Hundreds of thousands of adults lining up to see characters and situations that had been created to entertain the 12-year-old boys—and it was always boys—of 50 years ago. I didn’t really think that superheroes were adult fare. I think that this was a misunderstanding born of what happened in the 1980s—to which I must put my hand up to a considerable share of the blame, though it was not intentional—when things like ‘Watchmen’ were first appearing. There were an awful lot of headlines saying ‘Comics Have Grown Up’.”

“I tend to think that, no, comics hadn’t grown up,” he said. “There were a few titles that were more adult than people were used to. But the majority of comics titles were pretty much the same as they’d ever been. It wasn’t comics growing up. I think it was more comics meeting the emotional age of the audience coming the other way.”

“I will always love and adore the comics medium but the comics industry and all of the stuff attached to it just became unbearable.”

To be fair, you have to have a pretty high IQ to understand Alan Moore.

not what he originally said but if he changed his view then cool.

Watchmen is for teenagers. It holds your hand for the most part, which people still somehow miss. He put effort into fleshing it out, but it's not really an adult book.

Nearest to a hero doesn't necessarily make a hero tho

You shouldn't respect something that is pitiable
