It feels like someone creating a comic to make a "manga", if that makes sense. It seems like the author is trying to create a cool manga because he wants to make a manga.
Rather than create an interesting and compelling story which is what separates this work and work that comes from most mangakas in japan. I hope it will improve and feel like an actual story rather than an imitation of one. Hope that all made sense

Looked it up on Twitter, I mostly just saw people objecting to it being called a 'manga'. Now, granted, I went to see what these objectors posted on a regular basis, and a few of them were indeed talking about applying race realism to christian theology or using niche slurs for particularly dark-skinned blacks or fellating the military or getting hyped for recent presidential policy decisions and that sort of thing, so perhaps these very much are chuds at work. Go figure.

looking at the interiors, its just kaiju 8 with black people and shittier art. looks like clip studio assets with poorly traced 3d models. not the worst looking, but looks amateurish at same time and doesnt look like manga. the animated trailer looks significantly better. whoever they paid for that gave them their moneys worth. it looks quite well done compared to other animated trailers indie comics have done.

As it is, it's alright, kinda diet cyberpunk hunting junji ito looking body horror slasher monsters. Jabari's actually pretty fun, reminds me or Ultimate Peter Parker during the early days or Static Shock, lot of fight in the dog and a boisterous personality with a fun amount of ego. I see people compare certain personalities to "Golden Retrievers" and shit and it feels kinda like if you gave one of those types a whole lot of self confidence and some smack talk.
