Mostly the latter.

i prefer the idea of him

I like him.

Mostly the latter.

In all honesty, he is probably at his best in the Fleischer Cartoons and the first superman movie.

The next best thing is probably the Silver Age hijinks.

Ever since Byrne's 'The Man of Steel', he has sort of died as a hero that people care about. Post-COIE really destroyed whatever appeal Superman had.

Won't know, I never met him. Fuck his pal Jimmy though dude's a dick..

I like him a lot. His comics were great. You should read them.

stop being a faggot

just the idea of it.

I like how he was done in Dark Knight Returns but any Superman fan would probably disagree. I liked that ridiculously positive, bright colored sign of hope in contrast to Batman, while he's also used by mankind's scummy leaders since he's naive.

Superman wasn't being 'used' because of some kind of naivety, he simply thought it was the best way to preserve world peace during the Cold War

Some things are that sometimes Superman is written with such idealism that he seems to display negative aspects, such as resentment, pride, and jealousy. This may or may not be accidental; it's hard to say because in those stories, Superman is THE ideal.
In other stories, Superman seems less of an ideal and more of a person trying to be better.
Although I'm only talking about the few dozen Superman comics I've read in my entire life.

Semantics

He was super jew all along

I'm not a Superman guy, but I liked that comic done by Alan Moore kind of like All Star Superman, but more straight to the point, and that one that is a loop.

I wish DC would make him single again. That way he could be more relatable to new readers.

Hi Slott

hello!

Definitely just the idea of him.

Superman makes me smile and I love him

terrible in groups, great solo, too many shit writers not earning their dbz fights

I like Superman when he is in comics that get the idea of him. For All Seasons, Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, stuff like that. Most of the time he is just used as the ultimate flying brick which is fine I guess but not quite what I am interested in.

I find him very relatable.

Do people actually like Superman

Yes

or just the idea of him?

Yes

I prefer Superman when he's fighting robots made by a mad scientist or shit like that

Neither. Superman is a retarded character and concept.

some faggot from some alien civilization looks 100% human but is also uber-powerful because his cells absorb sunlight and he like flies and shit and he comes here to teach us peace and love and fuck our women

Fuck off with this subversive shit. "Superman" should've been a book starring Lex Luthor, and it should've been a story about the world's smartest man upgrading himself with tech and augmentations to battle the evils that lurk in the universe. The only "Super Man" is Lex.

Get off the internet lex.

There's no difference he's not a real man.

People like Superman when he's in stories that actually use him right, which is increasingly rare. I'm not going to say any more on the subject, because every time I do I just get ignored.

because every time I do I just get ignored.

I wouldn't ignore you if you weren't so boring.

Do people actually like Superman.

No.

or just the idea of him?

The idea of Superman doesn't exist. Superman is like a prostitute, and DC is his pimp.
Superman will do and say whatever DC wants.
This means that Superman has no concrete ideals, goals, or coherent morality.

The original Superman used cars to crush criminals.

Kys retard

Wdym

you don't actually like X you like the idea of X

I hate this argument since it can be applied to literally any character

I think Clark's a cool cat. The 90's was a terrible time for comics.

I like him along with Spiderman, Batman (Brave and the Bold) and Ghost Rider.
