ITT: popular cartoons you never really cared for all that much

List as many as you'd like.

1447375365174.jpg - 1024x768, 227.66K

I think Adventure Time kinda sucks. People point to all the "good stuff" and it still doesn't impress me enough to give a shit about the show. I don't hate it, I just don't think it's that great.

Shows like Steven Universe and Gravity Falls. I'm not gonna say that they're bad, they're just not the kind of cartoons that I enjoy.

Gumball was always too LOLZ RANDOM Rick and Morty for me.

Animaniacs

Any of the Sonic ones.

Jimmy Neutron unironically does this show's premise better.

Avatar is boring man, I dunno.

Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends sucks. All it has is the premise and Frankie. What an ugly, grating show.
Ren and Stimpy is vastly overrated. Technically impressive but terrible sense of timing for jokes.

Shut up ADHDfag

Foster’s isn’t ugly

You can’t just drop a take like that with no elaboration, OP. You have to attempt to explain why you hate a perfect show like Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Even Peter Griffin tried to explain why he hates the godfather.

hate a perfect show like Ed, Edd, n Eddy.

Kys Edfag, the later seasons sucked.

Okay. I never cared all for Ed, Edd, n Eddy that much because I found it loud and annoying and none of the characters were particularly likeable. I know late millennials/early zoomers are supposed to love Ed, Ed, n Eddy but I just found it dull to sit through as a kid. Same with Billy and Mandy to an extent. I always preferred Johnny Bravo, the Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Lab over it.

Fuck Rocket Power, Mucha Lucha, and Puffy Ami Yumi.

Courage the Cowardly Dog was boring.
Flapjack was ugly and unfunny.
Chowder was obnoxious.
Adventure Time was cringe and gay.
Regular Show was shit.
Gumball was tryhard.

Every character in Chowder is either annoying, unlikable, or an asshole. Also because it abuses the fuck out of the fourth wall to the point where it stops being funny.

I'd probably enjoy it more now that I'm older but Venture Bros never kept my interest for long

Ren and Stimpy is vastly overrated.

Ren and Stimpy gets its due credit from me for being the "first of its kind" in an upcoming era of creator-driven shows, but it being "first" is the only reason it's still notable. It's largely unremarkable otherwise and Ren and Stimpy suck as characters.

Shut up Billy

Based Billy

Characters should be wholesome chungus and not allowed to have flaws

FTFY

He’s a filtered retard

Almost based but fumbled one of them (and you know which one).

All the ones made after 1999.

That’s not based

Filtered away from all the plebs who like those shows.

All the ones this guy likes.

MUH PLEBS

Kys retard

I'm sorry I insulted you and your kind.

You insulted your kind by being a retard

My ancestors are smiling at me and my good taste, actually.

At least make the annoying unlikable assholes funny, ATHF proved it can work.

Nope

Yeah huh.

Never, you retarded mongrel

Your ancestors are smiling at me too, out of awe that someone with such refined tastes bothered to mention them.

Get a room you two, this is a hot take thread.

Shut up, I'm having fun.

Nobody gives about you just because you are assblasted by kid’s shows on an indian bodybuilding forum

Nice to meet you, Nobody.

The premise is boring, the art style is too squiggly, and the kanker sisters are conceptually awful characters on every level

Every taste on Earth exists and at this point I just feel bad for people who hate things I think are good. May they find joy in other things.

I’m gonna gouge out your eyes

it reflects the antipathy of the creators when they are incapable of creating relatable or likable characters. It's not that it's bad art, it's only dehumanizing (like a Rothko painting, reflective of his intense misanthropy and loathing for anyone who dares to try to 'appreciate' his work) and stuck in a particular mood of expression which can get as exhausting as listening to a pretentious guy explain all this in a long post online.

byciclereff.webm - 600x600, 2.95M

/thread

You probably wouldn't do that.
You probably wouldn't do that at all, I'm pretty sure.

There's a balance between wholesome chungus and unlikeable jerk

Based.

Courage is simply not all that great, anon.

Nope

It’s more

Six for six. I'll never understand the type of people that liked Flapjack or AT.

It’s not only great, but exceptionally so.

I hope you never watch South Park then

I disagree.

why do people like goofy simple cartoons?

Ok.
See:

I don't hate Courage. It's just not good. Big difference.

K

For you

IT doesn't stink. It's just a dull show with low-effort meta humor, which might be worse than bad.

You’re ascribing an opinion you hold to a property of the cartoon itself. Courage succeeds at what it sets out to do.

And that's all that matters.

It succeeds at making me change the channel, yes.

I've read this post in Billy's voice

Filtered

Shut the fuck up smalldick/industrycuck

Yes, making people who don’t jive with what it sets out to do change the channel is a good sign.

Refer to

I don't think cartoons setting out to be boring is a good sign at all.

thinking that saying plebs is an argument

LMFAO

But this isn't an argument, just a disagreement.

Good

What you find boring isn’t objectively boring. If you are bored by atmospheric horror smashing together with slapsticky classic cartoons with a dash of R&S then it’s a good thing you are bored. That means Courage stayed in its lane.

Things nobody ever describes Courage as for 500, Alex.

Wrong on the money

The lane that leads to nowhere is indeed a lonely one.

Indeed, I should be paid more for that opinion.

Courage is well liked. In fact, you admitted to this when you initially posted it in a “popular cartoons you don’t like” thread.

Courage fans don’t feel lonely. It’s plenty respected.

Popularity has never been a 1:1 measure of quality, however.

You can definitely respect something for trying and failing.

You shouldn’t be getting paid for being buttbroken by cartoons

I agree, glad that's not the case. But it would probably be better than getting buttbroken for free over a disagreement, though.

Futurama

I've never seen the Hulu episodes, and I never will for sure because I was told to avoid it like the plague. Now with that out of the way, the entire show itself wasn't even necessarily as good as people claim it out to be. It's not that it's bad, I'll admit it has some very creative moments, but it's just dull, and at times it contradicts its continuity in many episodes. I'm just not a fan of Groening's cartoons, but I do admire his work

American Dad

Of Seth's shows, it's way better than Family Guy, I'll acknowledge that, but it's also full of missed opportunities. Much like Futurama, it's also very creative, but also dull. I'd say the show got confusing when they abandoned the whole post-9/11 American politics humor with the more science-fiction type CIA humor, which on paper sounds nice, but it's also directionless of what it wants to be. Jack of all traits, but masters of none

The Ren and Stimpy Show

Visually appealing, but overrated as hell. Even picking which era, the timing for many of the gags fall flat. Like the first half when the original creator was involved for the first two seasons, the pacing is so slow and drags on forever. The last couple seasons, the animation and jokes are either better nor worse

Adventure Time

I just did not care for the show. That's all I have to say about that

Courage the Cowardly Dog

Not a bad show, but it's as good as people claim it out to be. I like the setup and I appreciate what the show was going for, but I did not care for it on a personal level

The Critic

The gags were there, but they weren't as funny

Chowder

I thought the characters were a Russian roulette of boring, annoying, unlikable or straight up assholes. And here's my personal nitpick, I do not like it when shows and movies have to interrupt themselves by breaking fourth walls just to get their points across or for cheap laughs. That to me is just not funny

I feel llike its one of those "you had to be there" type shows. Regular Show I think has more staying power and is the best cartoon of the 2010s

Of course not, but as your issue with Courage appears to be fundamental, rather than a disappointed fan of those elements. In that respect, your opinion is the least valuable to any sort of discussion on the objective worth of the cartoon.
It’s like a guy who hates cake believing he can make objective statements on a cake, when it really boils down to “it’s not icecream”.
You can but that’s not the case for Courage in the Zeitgeist.

gotta agree. I genuinely don't see the hype behind it. even when it came out initially i thought other episodic/ loose narrative actions shows did stories better than it. I dont hate it but it's not like some amazing show that changed the industry forever

There were popular cartoons made after 1999? Name one.

AT just happened to hit after the fucking terrible post-financial crisis era at the right time, it was fresh and unique, and catered to the internet which was new at the time. I say this as somebody who didn’t jive with it when it came out either.

smalldick is samefagging

lol lmao even

I think my opinion is very valuable in the matter.
And your example makes no sense here since I'm not lamenting that Courage isn't something else entirely and attempting to compare it to anything better.

tfw don't have shit taste

You say it’s boring.
It contains elements that are not boring, and fans of those elements like Courage.
Thus, the only logical conclusion is you find those elements boring.
If you’d like to elaborate you can.

Because it is boring.

agreed but sometimes you gotta let out some steam a little.

Anime

TCW wasn't bad, but I never really understood why it blew up in popularity when Genndy Wars was right there and did the "bridge the prequels" thing better. I'm convinced it's because it had a hot alien chick because the majority of the show is 75% filler exposition slop otherwise.

theclonewars.png - 1200x675, 1.31M

Exactly, substance-less critique.

Anything with child characters.

Substance-less

Just like Courage.

Genndy is too good for Star Wars. He turned it into something it isn’t.

This show is what turned Star Wars into Disney. All downhill from here.

Avatar, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Spongebob, Steven Universe, ponyshit, Gravity Falls, Gumball, etc

Not cartoons.

Circular reasoning. But okay, because I said so is your final answer. If that’s all you got that’s all you got.

I don't have much more to give to something like Courage that doesn't have much to give in the first place except a boring time.

Anime is short for cartoons in Japan

youtube.com/watch?v=g1F69QhAerE

tried watching the show being parodied when it was popping off

realized it literally wasn't for me

grateful for not having whatever disability made it appealing

Maybe, but it's CG and all CG is trash.

anon doesn't know

The episodes were like 5 minutes and that pissed me off as a kid.

Adventure Time was cringe and gay.

Of course it was, it's a troony tune.

Shut up faggot

I did not care for Finding Nemo. It insists upon itself

The only troon here is you

I’ll be honest and harsh.
Foster’s Home, Catdog, Rocket Power, Beavis and Butthead, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Adventure Time, Gumball, Steven Universe, Legend of Korra, Owl House, Amphibia, Teen Titans Go, Bojack.
Also, Animaniacs is overrated and is only just fine. And for my hottest take Over the Garden Wall is like a 7/10.

Adventure Time is trash, too. Gay trash. For trannys. Trannys named AdventureTranny. Like you :)

Reversed feelings. I have 0 love for anything Genndy has made. It's all just slop to me.
His Clone Wars failed to be a grounded star wars story and was just a lackluster ad for Episode 3

Hi retard-kun

What are some lesser liked/controversial/under appreciated shows that you like?

Beavis and Butthead

Space Ghost Coast to Coast

These are good. The rest are all for autistic babies.

Keep seething faggot

Keep faggoting seether

You have shit taste

Based and correct

OK KO is good and almost great. Samurai Jack Season 5 was almost cartoon of the decade, but it still evens out to pretty good. People sleep the fuck on Fillmore.

I think the worst part of the series is how they did the clones. The "they are implanted with a chip" thing really ruins the betrayal done to the jedi. it makes it seem too much like the jedi are perfect and can do no wrong.

You are an autistic baby

All of them. I'm an adult who doesn't suffer from autism so I don't watch cartoons.

I like B&B in concept but their banter is repetitive and boring. Space Ghost CTC is similar, but a bit worse because I don’t like any of the characters.

Shut up retarded faggot

Shut-up-faggotposter seethes whenever a modern toon is (rightfully) shat on.

but I never really understood why it blew up in popularity

Big Bang Theory was big at the time and making geek culture trendy. It's partly normalfag tourists that were checking out the latest Star Wars and zoomers with nothing else to watch on CN.

then why are you here?

Cool

Kys faggot

I collect (you)s. Anon Babble is filled with autistic people who can't not respond. Anon Babble is too busy and Anon Babble and Anon Babble are too intelligent. Anon Babble is just busy enough and the people here are just dumb enough.

Keep seething troon

Rick and Morty is reddit done right, and even the later seasons have something more to offer than your average modern cartoon.

We all agreed that his name is 'AdventureTranny'.

Act like a retard

”fuck off retard”

Ha I win

The pasttime of the retarded. Take the (you) it’s yours.

You are the tranny

more please.

I don't watch shitty American cartoons because I'm not a mutt.

Get fucked thirdie

I don’t watch shitty American cartoons either. I like the good ones though.

They talk like Speed Racer characters, or some other ancient anime dub where the English speakers are trying to keep up with the fast moving lip flaps.

American cartoon

good

lol lmao even

Kys Taco

Your favorite animator likes good American cartoons.

Amphibia

Your favorite animator likes old American cartoons.

fixed. the last time America made anything good Eisenhower was president, and 99% of the people reading this don't even know when that was because your education system is shit lmao

Ok, so there are good American cartoons, thank you.

This show felt like they were trying to put an hour of content into 30 minutes.

TCW wasn't bad

Correct, it was shit.

I just wanted to hate on popular cartoons in peace why are you like this

Bob's Burgers, Rick & Morty, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Star Vs., Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Owl House, Loud House, Great North, any of modern SpongeBob and many obnoxious modern Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks, Sony and Illumination movies are all loved by hipsters, pedophiles and moms over on social media, and also here on Anon Babble, and to this day, I still don't see the hype on either of these products. At all

Because you touch yourself at night

Schizos are everywhere. You can't let them go away

Agent Cooper chases after highschool girls btw.

Anon Babble isn’t one person

I never said it was

Yes I am.

Style over substance, just like everything Genndy does.

1703431405778.jpg - 680x1000, 123.69K

Style is substance.

Well Anon Babble either seethes, has normal discussions or doesn’t care about the things you mentioned

Filoni is the worst thing that ever happened to Star Wars.

Go watch Steven Universe

Mmm, yeah okay I can agree with that

The prequel trilogy*

They could've been executed better but they were just fine, overall.

They opened the door to the death of the universe.

does anyone have a download of all bunny maloney french episodes?

i feel weird that i preferred adventure time before it became some community college philosophy assignment.

based. courage is extremely overrated. its a decent show, but not this masterpiece redditors keep claiming it to be.
also the reused sounds piss me off. (that being said i still like the show)

Me too, but when I grew up I realized it was better as two hour long movies with the DVD volumes.

Show peaked way too early.

thats kinda based, yo

Irwin_Live_4.jpg - 340x260, 18.71K

Shut up Irwin

For what it's worth, George did want Genndy back for CGI Clone Wars, but that would've required Genndy to become head of Lucasfilm Animation and work on Star Wars stuff for the rest of his life. Genndy was willing to do it, but only if he had creative freedom and being able to make original ideas like a viking movie he had in mind. George rejected him and instead went with Filoni because he's the type of guy who was perfectly willing to waste his life making Star Wars.

That's a funny way of saying The Rise of Skywalker
