I rediscovered The Tick

I rediscovered The Tick.

The Tick has to be the only thing that has gotten 3 EXTREMELY different adaptations, all of which were amazing
I guess the TMNT as of 2003-ish could say that.
I recently rewatched it all, and this time the fox sitcom was decidedly the loser, but for its day it was fine.

The cartoon kinda sucked.

for the restrictions of 90s saturday morning, it was kind of amazing. And remember, those jokes hadn't been done to death yet. This was Venture Bros before Venture Bros, and indeed, the same guys worked on it.
I still lose it when The Terror is listing off the supervillains he's assembled, ending with "my good friend, Josef Stalin"
and the guy says "Oh no, I am not Stalin.. I am "Stalingrad." a grad student whose evil plans are BASED on Stalin's."

Really wish the comic would get a proper adaptation

would you want it to be really faithful or still expand? because I feel like Edlund has had so many more great ideas in the intervening years... It'd be a shame to stick only to the old days..
I would definitely want it to be a period piece though. And include the 'are you.. funny?' bit.

Good for you.

ENDING credits? dude the opening theme is where it's at

dum DWEEEE dat dat dat dwee dow!

The opening theme is the superior song.

But I've always enjoyed this little remix

this always reminds me that, like so many shows, all the rips online are the sped-up PAL version

Patrick Warburton was kino in that role and I wish he could've done more live action stuff aside from The Tick and Seinfeld.

Always fun. I met Townsend Coleman the other week. He quoted Tick lines at me.

Right? and I love how each version of the show has excellent new side characters. Batmanuel is fucking amazing. I would go anywhere with him in the Manuelmobile..
oh kickass. I like how they let him voice the talking dog in the Amazon series.

I don't blame him for memorizing them. Tick has so many perfect lines.

Isn't sanity a one-trick-pony anyway? All you get is rational thinking.

But with INsanity.. ohoho.. the sky's the LIMIT!

We need a new Tick Cartoon.

get back doc hammer and jackson publick, and I'm in.
you think the old voice guys are still in the game? Because I wouldn't mind Peter Serafinowicz continuing either, if Towny's not up to it.

I'm bummed some of the comics are pricey.

I would to see that. And maybe we might see some Venture Bros cameos or easters eggs.

I feel like he's one of the few actors turned VA's who really likes doing stupid nerdy shit because he genuinely enjoys it and not just because of the paycheck

Agreed. However I want them to port over Overkill and Ms. Lint from the tv show.
I really like Overkill as a character. I just love the concept of Arthur having an over the top 90s antihero as his brother in law

that's an accomplishment at least.. to have made something that became expensive..
i'm sure there's scans somewhere
oh man, you know what they'd almost definitely do? They'd do for the Venture Bros villains and heroes what each version of the Tick did for its side guys, yknow using a 'close enough' substitute that fills the role. A Batmanuel to the Die Fledermaus kinda thing.

truly that shit was incredible.
though I miss Dot as a mousy, Irma-Langenstein-esque jewess that marries Dinosaur Neil. I get what they were going for in the Amazon version, Arthur's no longer a schlubb, he's a different disrespected thing.

Rob doing his best Charlie Adler / John Kassir there

fuck you anon, that shit was so funny my dad would wait with me right before it came on to watch it on saturday morning too

I feel like The Tick could take place in the Venture Bros universe

I can't imagine being so dead inside to dislike the cartoon

Is the tick originally a comic?

Yes

the amazon show is fucking BORING sorry.

I want a capybara
yeah the creators started on the tick, and edlund guest wrote one episode of venture bros. they're on such the same wavelength that you can't even tell which one is his, they wrote all the others.

it's a little more subdued, but I find it still completely hilarious. Brian Butterfield makes an amazing Tick

that time when he almost said Spoon..

Crazy
Now I wanna see an episode where Hank stumbles upon the hero tryouts

I never like the 2001 show

it started out pretty damn good and funny, then it shat the bed at the end.
