comics like Invincible are standalone and written with a definite progression and endgoal in mind without the greed of wanting bestselling issues for decades to come so there can be proper endings for characters
The way the show is going i think it might have a different ending from the book honestly, but just speculation.

It suffers from the common mistake that did many creative works in. The main character is a fucking boring stick in the mud and lots and lots of minor characters are simply more interesting and you wish the show would be about them. How an ancient and devoted warrior finds his humanity and abandons his race and ideology for the love of his family. How a man who united his entire planet and ushered in a golden age got so mentally broken by the efforts that he has no space in it and he can only live for battle as a living weapon. How a boy born into shit and raised by shit and shit on by everyone and being a cunt manages to rise over it and break the cycle of assholeness. How a glowie has to constantly difficult decisions every day and bear full responsibility for them, as they are trying to thread the needle and find something that works against an insurmountable alien enemy. How another glowie died dozens of times in service and got traumatized to the point that he requested his memories to be wiped and he is essentially just cyborg but he still hasnt lost any of his humanity or bravery and decides to go the fuck back and make the difference for what he believes in.
I would rather watch or read a series about any of these dudes, rather seeing a boring ass coming of age story protag flip-flop angsting over KILLING BAAD
