Despite everything you can still tell this was made in Japan because they let the protagonist get caught off guard and even have a sweat mark by how awkward of a revelation it was. Compare to Rocko's Modern Life, which had a whole metaphor episode about gay bashing and Rocko chased out of town for liking rainbows, where Ralph's transition was met with the unnaturally lifeless "THAT IS AWESOME" and Joe Murray even said jokes were removed by glaad representatives.

I'm confused why they extended the timeslot for GR when it could've fit over Naruto and Sailor Moon's reruns, only replacing Sailor Moon's. The only sense that makes is if they do plan on continuing OG Naruto and wants it to keep going to get back to where it was sooner, but that seems unlikely. Plus holding off a week for something never before on the block would be a perfect stalling tactic regardless. Just makes no sense either way you look at it. Maybe it just comes down to ratings, avoiding one less week before they lose it to get some viewership/money on it?

More shit happens and MC finds out that by getting powers, he's made things hard for the girl who gets into trouble with her superiors

Whole arc to save the girl from being executed

This leads to the first major villain, a Soul Reaper who wants to use a powerful artifact that happened to be bonded to the fake body the girl used to interact with the living world

This artifact allows the villain to do a number of things, such as gain immense power and turn powerful Hollows into Soul Reaper-like entities called Arrancars

Whole arc about these dudes, who kidnap another girl, who is the love interest of MC

Shit happens and MC eventually beats the villains, but not before learning he orchestrated a lot of major events, including the life of the MC

Because MC had to level grind to beat the villain, he momentarily loses his powers

Friend who has a power that's different from Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and even Vizoreds (Soul Reapers who can conjure Hollow Masks to fight), helps MC regain his powers

Original anime ends right around here because Blood War was crawling at a snail's pace when the manga was still ongoing

If you do end up enjoying it, should try the original anime, which is only 350 or so episodes, it's much shorter than One Piece or Naruto in grand total, since those two (OP alone and Naruto with its three anime) are 1k episodes. Plus, like 100+ episodes are filler in Bleach, meaning the total you'd need to watch to catch up is significantly less than what you'd spend if you were to try catching up with the other long runners

So far what I've seen of One Piece the arcs feel independent from each other only occasionally referencing/flashing back to previous stuff. People make Bleach sound like it picks up in the middle of a huge plot rather than acting as any sort of entry point.

I still don't get why these series have a designated love interest in mind (Orihime, Hinata) but the story completely focuses on another girl who is more involved, serious, close to the protagonist (from what I saw in the movies Rukia literally lives in Ichigo's closet), and usually does more connected to the story, only to tack on the protag getting with the other girl right at the end, satisfying no one. What was focused on the most goes nowhere and people feel cheated, and there was no commitment prior to the other girl up until the last second which just makes everyone hate her for being boring and "winning" like it's some competition.

"Muh Crunchyroll" is their excuse for not getting Gundam and YYH for Rewind.

honestly a pretty damn good episode. Really liked the action and music in this one. the dialogue is still eh, but this is growing on me.

My mom got discharged from the hospital on Wednesday and taking care of her by myself has taken enormously more time and effort than I expected. My least favorite part is being awoken at 6 AM to try to get her to the bathroom before she wets herself; also, I think her wheelchair is outgassing something that's making me sick. Getting an outpatient physical therapy appointment is a much bigger problem than it should be too. That's pretty much been my life for the past several days and I'm worried that I'm not going to be able to keep going.
