One of the main problems with Hazbin Hotel is that the show tries to pretend the denizens of Hell are "just misunderstood," while also including things like a cannibal street, a place where all the cannibals live.
I get that it's going for that 2000s to early 2010s cynicism-comedy vibe, like Invader Zim, Producing Parker or Ugly Americans, but in that kind of setup, Charlie should be fundamentally wrong. She should be overly naive, and the point should be that the denizens of Hell aren't worth saving. That’s where the comedy would come from: Charlie being turbo-naive and constantly failing to redeem the absolute worst people and probably have the sinner just get vaporized. Trying to take the process of redemption seriously while also making gags about how evil everyone is just something that doesn’t work.

It was still there. Just not given heavy focus since he was already not that bad a person, so he didn't have much to overcome to be redeemed, and Amazon gave them a compressed episode count for S1, so they had to shove as much plot as they could into just eight episodes.
Now that they've not only been given three more seasons (Viv herself is ending the series at four, so it's not Amazon pulling funding) as well as being able to now crossover with Hella will likely result in less rushed pacing for future redemptions.

If we see anything violent from him, it's not gonna be like, turf wars or beating up the guy who didn't pay their dues. It's gonna be him standing up to other gangsters doing those to show he's not that bad a guy.
