The type of art he makes with a brush can't be replicated by AI. Sure, AI can do good line work now, but it's largely homogenized styles
There's a lot of spontaneity in brush inking and unique decisions in how Doug draws that AI just wouldn't do because it'd consider it "wrong"
Drawing that eye is a perfect encapsulation of what means- yes he can draw something "photorealistic", but he's never drawn a comic like that because that sort of perfection isn't what makes him stand out and sells his work.
