Yeah saw the movie with the whole family which is rare now a days. Was pretty great, the vampires shocked me but loved the play on them being irish and two different music styles being used.

That's what I heard. Rumor has it MCU Blade was originally meant to be set in the 1920s, possibly introducing Blade's daughter too, directed by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. However Ryan went to Warner Bros, and made this instead. So did Disney piss him off and cause him to jump ship? Was this film really just a big fuck you to Disney for not letting him make the vampire movie he originally wanted? This would also explain why Blade is now in indefinite production hell, because Coogler essentially left with their premise and now they're spinning trying to figure out how to make the new Blade fit into their franchise

To be fair, Ryan Coogler does want to launch comics and cartoons set in the Sinners-Verse.

Not quite. The original script for the Blade reboot was set in the 1920s, but Coogler had nothing to do with it. That imploded due to disagreements between Marvel and Mahershala Ali, while Coogler was developing Sinners for WB on his own.
Coogler did nab most of the production team Marvel had assembled for Blade and then forced to let go to work for Sinners, as well as Delroy Lindo, who was going to play Blade's mentor and then played the old drunk musician in Sinners.
