How come despite the decades of trying, none of the female-led superhero movies or shows are any good?
Are female-led comics simply unadaptable? Are those comics just inherently bad? Are superheroines just boring compared to their male counterparts?

Imagine being right up inside her Green Lantern

That Wonder Woman movie that took place in WW1 was pretty good.

No.
It may have been looked good compared to the rest of Snydershit (even that is debatable) but it was trash.

Nah, it was completely competent and delivered on a good action movie. Now, WW 1984, that was a mess.

It was literally just Captain America but a different war

t was completely competent

Lol.

delivered on a good action movie

LOL

And Captain America was a good movie.

And siginificantly shittier.

Superheroine/"bad girl" led comics usually understood you needed some sexuality and femininity as a hook. It doesn't necessarily mean pin-ups, though certainly some of the most popular ones did lean into that, but also the characters acting like women.
Action movies with female leads want to avoid that, trying to make the heroines unfeminine and trying to emphasize they're equals to men, which also ends up negating uniquely feminine aspects.
Black Canary in birds of Prey is a good example of balancing good characterization and sexyness that makes her feminine without compromising on making her an engaging character. She has a lot of flaws that would be polished out in a live action adaptation in fear it'd come off as sexist. She's headstrong, she's terrible with computers and tech, she's a bit boycrazy, she likes to eat. But she's still strong willed and capable, it gives her a quality that makes her uniquely female in how she's portrayed vs a male hero, but still heroic.

in a BLACKED night

None of those irrelevant shitters like Green Arrow or Black Canary are compelling characters.

Superheroines have generally never made a strong connection to any particular western market. Traditional superhero structure is masculine fantasy, and the audiences fairly entrenched in that regard. However, those superheroines that did work incorporated more feminine power/narrative structures, notably romance. You can see this in successful foreign markets where superpowered women are more common and even dominate their own genres like magical girls.
Take Wonder Woman, her original book had elements of Planetary Romance, she was as much a Flash Gordon as she was a Superman. And even taking into account Marston's bizarrely good contract, Wonder Woman was successful for her time. Wonder Woman's 2017 movie was relatively successful and maintained many of those elements, where Marvel's attempts ignored them.
As a trend those elements, alongside a lot of other interpersonal drama aspects in general, like secret identity, have been pushed aside if not outright buried by modern writers both in the comics and adapted media. Leaving very little on the table to connect with. Especially in solo feature films, where they can't even rely on an ensemble cast to carry it.
For whatever reason contemporary western creators seem adverse to feminine power and structures when advancing superheroines.

Hawkeyefag pls

Wild how all those flaws magically go away in a Green Arrow comic where she's always in the right 100% of the time.

magical girls.

The problem with those is that they appeal ONLY to women.
At the very least I can't imagine a soifaggot who could unironically watch that kind of shit without cringing hard.

The problem with those is that they appeal ONLY to women.

thats not true at all. Lots of boys watched Sailor Moon. The manga is more just for girls, but the anime was written more in a way both genders could watch it (although boys would be discreet about it.

Sailor Moon

That only proves my point. Sailor Moon was awful and something I can't see a boy watching and actually enjoying. At least the kind of boy who wouldn't end up trooning out eventually.
It was very obviously aimed at females.

Booba

rent free.

Well, maybe you should've named a good female-led anime like Slayers for instance that can be enjoyed by boys and girls.
Sailor Moon is inherently way too feminine and too saccharine to the point that even its drama is grating. I can see how women could enjoy it, but I really don't see how it appeals to normal boys at all. I hated it back then, hate it now.

They tried to ride female-protagonist action movies that worked a few years earlier, but they removed the GOVERNMENT BAD part because it fed crackpots' delusions despite it always being an obvious stand-in for the angsty teenage viewer's parents, and they took the love triangles out because romance is bad now, so there's no reason for the target demographic to watch.

Faggot

that worked

It "worked" by bringing money to the pockets of jews in Hollywood, but that's about it. On its own merits it was hot garbage.

oh sweet, is this the faggot thread?

The discussion was magical girl series though. Which have always had some crossover market when it comes to anime.
Slayers isn't really a magical girl show.

And the point is that magical girls genre is something that inherently only appeals to women.

Female led superhero movies are by nature not allowed to be fun adventures at all. They cannot get into fun misadventures and get into shenanigans and then fight some bad guy in the third act.

Female led superhero movies have to be EMPOWERING and INSPIRING!
Which means they need to be inherently political and topical, they are not allowed to have any levity at all because they must be a super special symbol of empowerment to all women everywhere. The villain must represent some traditional antagonist to female empowerment and be some sexist evil male, or some stereotype of old traditional anti-women values or religion. and at least 1-2 scenes where they overcome adversity, in the form of some anti women shit as usual. The whole movie needs to be combed over by ivy league feminist bullshit to make sure it checks all the current year empowerment boxes and never ever steps over the line that the ivy league feminist types might find problematic.

"Empowering" overly message filled political shit always makes a real boring slog of a movie to sit through.

That is not limited to just women either.

Remember when 75% of Falcon and Winter Soldier was dedicated to Sam overcoming adversity and trying to get a boat loan, losing his whole position to some super special blonde haired blue eyes white guy, then hanging out with an old black man who told him stories about how bad things were in the 1950s. When people just want to see a story where a good guy punches bad guys. Every black character is fucking Required to be in a story about overcoming historic racial aggression no matter what the story is. He can't just be a superhero, he has to be a black icon of triumph against the system that is stacked against him like we're watching some historic drama all over again and not a goddamn superhero movie.

There’s barely been that any movies and shows

First thing that comes to mind is Jessica Jones, which was pretty much white woman revenge porn with all kinds of boring angst and a pathetic joke of a main villain that comes with it.
Except it's not allowed to be fun and over-the-top kind of revenge porn (ie I Spit On Your Graves movies) because it's still capeshit so it's the dullest thing imaginable

tell that to Anon Babble.

cosplaying as Arisia

Hal Jordan poster

I could almost, ALMOST, stomach you being a blackedfag but a casual as well? Drop dead. If she wanted to fuck black guys she'd cosplay as Katma, you stupid baboon.

you know why

Checked

Because women are inherently boring and don't make for good protagonists, especially in action stuff?
Yeah.

Wonder Woman (1975-1979)
Stargirl (2020-2022)

Nah, it was completely competent

Dude... You can like something and still recognize it's bad.

Thats because you don't know the depths of the magical girl genre. there's a lot in the aside from Sailor Moon and Pretty Cure.

cringe crap

Only proving my point.

My Life As A Teenage Robot, Totally Spies, Atomic Betty, Winx Club, W.I.T.C.H, Ladybug, Word Girl, Powerpuff Girls, She Ra, etc
Yeah they're not based on comics though.

You decided you would call whatever was posted in response to you was cringe before I even opened this thread, anon. Its a meaningless criticism from you.

Maybe because magical girl genre is fucking garbage.
Symphogear is the cringiest shit imaginable that appeals to nobody, so what's really meaningless is your shit opinions since you're an idiot with shit taste

garbage only carried by boomer nostalgia

CW slop

No.

1984 is hilarious. I especially loved random children spawning in the middle of the desert playing or how she flies by catching lightning. Finally some good parody

>garbage only carried by boomer nostalgia

She's got nice big titties. I wasn't born for decades after the show ended but I enjoyed it. Surely you can enjoy pretty women with big breasts, right?

the show is shit in absolutely every way

HURR DURR TITS

I hate porn addicts so much.

>the show is shit in absolutely every way
